Hi pinkitsch, See the following picture. The difficult part is whether HDB allow you open window at the South sector indicated on the drawing, at least you should drill or bore some 50mm holes, this will help a lot. All the 4 red sectors can put moving-water features like fish-tank, water fountains etc. The stove designed in such a way is to make sure that it is with the red sector and yet has enough space, hope you like it and can implement accordingly. You can take down the store room and make your kitchen bigger and open concept. Most important, come back here to feedback your situation after staying. According to the China Fengshui master (Chen Zheng Ru) I met, "North-South" facing house is one of those that can get excellent fengshui if you fully make use of the 4 red sectors. Really like to congratuation you first. important note: you must get the measurement proportion accurate.

to tell you straight, if you take down kitchen and service balcony walls, then the air coming in from the front balcony opening is flowing straught through out off the back service balcony opening, bad fengshui.

Fengshui has a basic concept of "front" and "Back", for your case, "front" is your balcony "facing" side, "back" is your service balcony and kitchen side, in fengshui term "sitting". round building is inherently a complicated case, I will avoid, until I am very sure that there is a confirmed workable solution. Point block is still square, above method can still be used.

I am aftraid it is not so easy to take more accurate reading by layman. if you really want to try you have to follow this setp. Last time I wrote to HDB to ask for accurate direction and they really gave me.

Hi, your one is not facing North or South as my above case, but see what I can do. can you let me know which area and which block, does it on google map or street directory, I need to double confirm the direction, this is the basic and most important step before going further. There is not much margin for error, a few degrees out can make a lot different because it will fall into different "gua"（卦）。

uaually, balcony that side is "facing", but not always, actually by a look at floor plan you should have a feel of which side is facing, if everybody have a difficulty to identify facing by a look, then the particular house may already have difficult fengshui problem inherently liao.
