We had a very fruitful day - meeting an ID, visiting Unlimited & An Huat and eventually got so 'tiled' out. The floral tile will be slippery when wet due to the sealant but it is not easy to give up on the aesthetics. I can see my dream bathroom flooring flying out of the window soon ... But An Huat gave a compromised solution: - use these floral ones for the dry toilet and use normal non-slip ones for the wet portion Then Mr E gave another suggestion: Floral tiles as border in the bathroom by Makanology, on Flickr I think we should adopt both, solution 1 for master bathroom and solution 2 for the common bathroom. Hmmm now all this seem rather workable. Next, we need to worry about the color scheme for the 2 bathrooms carefully... -

If the furniture is old, the cushion may be worn out. I can't recall but does Spotlight sell cushions for such chairs? Then we can just do new covers. My handicraft not that good to do our own cushions or sewing hahaha -

Here's what Alan quoted me for: - hacking of 2 bathrooms + kitchen (everything) - hacking of living room + bedrooms skirting - 300x600mm homogenous floor tiles for 2 bathrooms + kitchens - 300x600mm ceramic wall tiles for 2 bathrooms + kitchens - Construct low seat in master bathroom plus 50mm drop down kerb - changing of all pipes, laying hot water pipes to 2 bathrooms, piping for washing machine etc - labour to install sanitary wares & kitchen sink - 10.5ft top & bottom kitchen cabinet (L-shape) with usual soft closing, ABS trimming, dish tray etc - Solid surface top 15ft - Full height kitchen cabinet 3.5ft to hold microwave & storage space - Laminated low dining table (hmmm we didn't ask for that) - Glass sliding door for kitchen - Glass door for master bathroom - Aluminium bifold door for common bathroom - Adjustable louvre windows with KDK ventilators for 2 bathrooms (taking this out as we heard rain will come in) - Full height wardrobe 6ft for master bedroom - Labour & materials for brick walls for dining area, bar area and wall behind sofa - Overlay laminate flooring for living room + 2 bedrooms - 2 full height display cabinets for living room (1 for Vodka bottles and 1 for my limited edition toys) - 1 bar table (granite top) - 1 laminated wooden panel TV ledge in living room - L box for living room & master bedroom - False ceiling outside storeroom - Whole house electrical wiring & power points ($2400) - Whole house painting ($1150) - New veneer doors for bedrooms & storeroom - Sliding windows for living room, common bedroom & casement windows for master bedroom & kitchen - Window grills for all windows Now this looks like a lot of work but we do not intend to take up all of these so will pick & choose and get him to revise. In fact, we didn't ask for some of the items but we guess this is a standard menu and we choose what we can 'consume' -

Saw this lovely chair on Oddyssey but can't buy yet! Nice retro arm chair by Makanology, on Flickr Also am inspired to buy old furniture and try our hand to restore them. Is it expensive to reholster such chairs? Or tailor made new cushions? -

No wonder you can squeeze in an 18ft! Initially we wanted a L-shape wardrobe to maximize the space in the MBR. But Alan felt our master bathroom is small and my Mr E is quite 大只, so he suggests we shift the basin into the bedroom. I am trying to squeeze the basin back into the bathroom so that I can have the L shape wardrobe back. Lucky we don't have alot of clothes. Been shifting too much that we realize less is better! No use so give away. Then excuse to buy new stuff -

9ft, 18ft ? Wah now my 6ft is pathetic. Need to relook at my MBR layout. -
The Kartell is so gorgeous! For your dressing table? And 3D subway tiles do give an extra oomph - good choice!

Have you decided how you wanna design your wardrobe? How long is yours? Alan quoted 6ft for ours and I think I will chope 4 ft for myself -
Hi remember you were thinking how to jazz up your skinny corridor? Saw something today that may be a good idea for you: Nice long carpet for skinny long corridor by Makanology, on Flickr This corridor just reminds me of yours. If you can find a similar looking long carpet, then perhaps it is alright to leave the wall bare.

Going to explore more options and hopefully we can find similar-looking ones that do not need the sealant...though this sounds like wishful thinking -

YIPPEE! Finally our quote is in! But it comes very close to $40k for a 3 roomer so is that normal? Or perhaps because it is the 1st quote, Alan quoted higher with room for adjustment & bargaining? Definitely it looks a standard template... Will need time to mill over it. -
Thanks for the tip!

@renodaze if you don't mind me asking, where did you get your tiles from? Locally or online? Yeah we will need to apply sealant and unfortunately we are looking at these for bathroom floor tiles (warning bells ringing!) stubborn me has to go to the tile shop to see and decide to use them as floor or wall. In a way, luckily there are no kids or seniors, just 2 of us + 4-legged friend And also considering putting slippers to use in the bathroom. Me thinks it may become a battle of aesthetics versus practicality! -
Is this your current living room? Track lights on L-box do look bit strange. What are you putting on the wall? Picture/painting?

Oops sorry we are referring to Alan. On the side, how do you find the overall service and workmanship of Nicholas' team? We are considering to ask him for a quote as we may have a tight timeline now, maybe 5 weeks for our 3 roomer. And furthermore, the feedback we heard from the other forumers is that his quote is quite competitive... -

Don't know if cement tiles also come from china but on TB, there are many nice ceramic tiles selling for low rates like【佛山瓷砖 新款墙砖上市 300*300绿色墙砖 地砖 厨卫高档墙砖]【http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=16715275244] Not sure of the difference between cement and ceramic tiles but I found this on the web: http://www.granadatile.com/cement_vs_ceramic_tile.php So the design we have been searching for are European designs and not exactly Peranankan... And such designs seem hard to come by on TB. Anyways off to An Huat & Unlimited this Saturday!
