Hi all, Received a few pms asking for our quotation. Just to share that I won't be sending anyone our quotation. Because I personally feel that you can't compare apple to orange for quotation and personally i want to avoid any situation that one day, someone brings our quotation back to Alan one day to bargain for a better price. How much we spend till date: renovation and flooring is about 60k (excluding all the sunken cost: hob,hood bathroom accessories etc etc) furnitures and the figure is still climbing because we kept adding stuff to the list. We've already busted our initial forecasted budget. To be fair to Alan, his price is already pretty reasonable. Do note that we chose more exp materials to work with. Caeserstone quartz, mosaics etc If you have a floor plan and would like to have a feel Of how much your house will cost. Contact Alan - 98892008 and say the couple at pasir ris sent you! I'll let him know and get him to revert.

Agree w u too! Communication w them is v impt! We were talking to one of the tilers today and he spoke to us and he was showing us a nicer way to lay our mosaics, we choose ur same toilet mosaic and the full plain white ones to mix and we didnt even realise that the 2 mosaics were of a different shade of white coz it didnt show up in the showroom. If he hadn't show us, we wouldnt have realise and wont be in time to make rectifications. Can i ask how much was the stool? U rmb if u've seen any turquoise coloured ones there?

Will either use it at the vanity or the study Yes 3D ones are really nice, we've only decided to go for it because we've seen it at Dean & Deluca at 313 somerset and they are using these w white grouting. Looks really outstanding.

For 2.. my girl will have her own 5ft. Hahha More reasons to shop. We still hv a standalone shelf of drawers that is about 3-4 ft. Personally i feel that there can never be too much storage if u have the space coz u can always use them to hide clutter But of dun do until u have storage space but no where to walk la. Coz we hacked 2 bedrooms into 1 so we could afford a bigger wardrobe. The previous house we had a 10 ft (but L shaped) and with L-shape wardrobe, you don't really get full 10ft and honestly it wasn't enough for us because we still have tonnes of barang, From bedsheets, to winter clothes and those many "i hope i can lose weight and still fit someday clothes". Thus this house we've decided, we're gonna maximise all the storage space we could.

No la, coz he say his tilers v scared of the tiles we selected. hahaha 3D and mosaics and he mentioned that he did a house w many expensive tiles and Hexagon mosaics on the walls on the wall and i rmb seeing it on ur blog. That aside I've actually seen the tile u selected on a pic on pin-interest and the effect is WOW! Cant wait to see ur finished product !

YAY to SALES!!! Esp Warehouse sale.. We pop by the Lifestorey warehouse sale which strarted today to check out on the sale. They actually have the Strauss chair by Green on sale! but by the time we reach, it's already been fully sold. But alas, we did grab some good deals there too. Managed to snag 4 pieces of Kristalia Plana chair (only $99 a piece ) and the Kartell Mademoiselle Chair at a really gd price

Although there are minor hiccups here and there, we are pretty please with the tiling works. It looks fantastic and we really appreciate the effort that Alan and his team of tilers put in. When we meet with hiccups, he is very prompt to come down to resolve the issue with us. I guess using contractors vesus ID means that you must be prepared to spend time and effort in checking and co-ordinating the reno yourself because it's YOUR house afterall. What about spotlight? , there are some that comes w a casing and it's hidden in the false ceiling like ur down lights. Then on that row, u can remove and seal off some of the down lights.

I like the ceremic tiles too! V pretty but I wouldnt and couldn't (not kids friendly) use it for my floor because Im the sort who will feel v gao weh and sad if the tiles discolour which is likely to happen overtime. How abt putting thm up on the walls only instead and choose contrasting colours on the floor. V chio too. Do you guys host alot? No kids living in but what about kids visiting. E.g: We used to have no grills in our first home and we didnt thought it was a problem until we started getting older and friends started visiting with kids in tow. Then our house became super kid unfriendly. There are times when we tot we need to install the grills even IF we didnt have kids then. Floor unlike grills. U can't suddenly change it later. It's major rework then

Anyway we pop by Ikea and courts today after our light hunting day since the husband is still on leave. We can get many many stuff done ! We have been looking around for a Fridge and a washer for sometime and we have our eyes set on a Samsung side by side fridge and intend to go for a Samsung front load washer (this is in case we need to get a dryer in future). We have been putting off buying the purchase because we think the later we buy, the cheaper electronics will be (as always) so when we were window shopping at Gain city, we came across a very good price for a Samsung side by side fridge (only $9 more than GAB or Khong Tai) and we thought it makes more sense buying from the big players for $9 difference but Gain City doesn't stock the model tt we wanted to get for washer. There is an on-going promotion by Samsung now where by selected models of the fridge comes with a FREE 39 inch TV!! Gd deal we think but we must purchase it before 28 Feb and have it delivered before 24 March. Redemption ends 24 MArch 2013 and u need to model numbers of ur items to be able to collect the premiums. We've also been hearing about the lowest price guarantee thing about courts so when we there to check it out and the price listed at courts was a whopping $110 difference from the amount that we saw at GC. So I asked the salesman serving us what does the lowest price guarantee means and he asked if we could provide pictures of the promo from GC (thank god for camera phones), he will match the price for us. We also managed to snag a gd deal from the washer since there was this member promo special price at courts for a particular model of washer. For just slightly above $2k, we snagged a washer, fridge and a FREE 39 " TV !!! GD Deal! Moral of the story : NPNT, always take picture for reference.

Haha.. good or bad? He will prob cringe when he hears my voice now. Haha Tiling started already loh too fast infact.. fast until Alan havent discuss with us where to conceal the electric pts and the kitchen is half done liao! Cham ah! and they also accidentally (listen wrongly) screed smooth our hollow block wall which is supposed to be left raw. Let's see how this can be salvaged tmr without having them to rework so much. Humans all make mistakes, those that i can close one eye ( and hide those trucking w fridge or hide w wardrobe), i will but if really cannot then bo bian because we spent so much on the hollow blocks on reconstruction (of walls) for the purpose of hiding the trunking. spend so much and still see them i might as will go bang wall. I'll post more pics tmr when it's mostly done.

The itchy backside MR change his mind about the shower system in the MBR. Initially we've already decided on the concealed eurostyle system without the rain shower but we though it looks weird and at the same time the mister is poisoned by the thermostatic mixer after reading renotalk so we went down ystd to check on it again. They have an on-going promotion that we thought was a good deal. The Grohe 27296001 Euphoria Shower System with Shower Thermostat was on promo at $888.00. sp we've decided to change to this promo instead. The husband gets what he wants (the thermostatic mixer) and I got my rain shower

The LED i experience was in my brother's place but he has really high ceiling so i dun get any effect other than when u look up. it's too glaring imo. so we're probably getting normal downlights for our place again this round.

Eh i,m not using LED for my current house (no LED then) but to be honest, I have not changed any bulbs in the past five years of staying le so i doubt lights spoil that fast la. my 2cents Im not inclined towards LED too becoz i find them too glaring white

I find them overly pretentious before u buy and once u've paid, they're super bochap and kns. Unlike shops like whitewoods. Can remember each time i visited even though i been there thrice and only bought my sofa on the 3rd time. Yes, we are using the ones w 3D effect and i think we didnt take the sample from LSH le.
