  1. Hi honeykitty, You have ordered quite a number of items from Taobao, and given that they charge by cubic cm, can I just kaypoh and ask you how much you have paid for the shipping for the above loots? On the replacement of the chipped ice cube lights, do you have to send the faulty one back to them? I'm contemplating buying a kitchen sink from Taobao (and some other items after seeing the good experience from people like yourself), but from the buyer comments from Taobao's website, some of them actually received sink with dents and scratches, so I'm a bit worried about that. The sinks on TB are cheaper in general, compared to Sin Siang Choon. Anyway, how's the rain shower you bought from TB? Got pic?
  2. This dino tap is indeed cute. *tempted* Did u only start buying from Taobao after your renovation started? Or u bought before the renovation?
  3. Anyone with any recent experience with this SIMS Interior Design located at Jurong East??
  4. Went to the soon-to-be-mine unit to see what furniture I can buy over from the previous owner, and it seems like only the fridge is reusable. The rest of the furniture is either too broken, or doesn't meet my expectation. Going to just offer S$80 for the 2-door fridge... is that too much? If later found to be useless, i can just buy a new one to replace without feeling too much pain. Then went to another renovation contractor nearby to have a chat, and was told that both of my bathrooms are too small to be installed with a shower screen. Oh well..... looking forward to getting my keys so that i could get these contractors down to take measurement and give me some quotations to compare.
  5. Hmm... what's the typical lifespan of air con units ah? Anyone knows? I think the existing air con units in my upcoming house are at least 6 yrs old. If they are near to the end of their lifespan then I might as well change. Oh oh, also want to ask owners who have ceiling fan with lights. Does the light give u the "flickering sensation" when u on the fan with the light??
  6. Oh zihui which street will u be moving to? If you have been to Jem, there's quite a fair bit of shopping available there leh. Looking forward to Bigbox.
  7. Hahaha... the size of a hotel deluxe room? If only I had the extra cash to make it really look like one. Started my sourcing of ID/contractor on last Sunday at Tradehub21, and i only have one conclusion: NOT CHEAP! Need some comments from you guys here: (1) Would you mind reusing the built in wardrobe left behind by previous owner (especially when the unit has been tenanted out 2-3 times)?? (2) If the air con units left behind by previous owner are working fine, but very yellowish in color, would you mind keeping them?
  8. Do u mind sharing where in JB did u buy this fan from? What's the brand and model?
  9. I bought Jurong East. Just started to visit some of the ID/Contractor today, and beginning to take note of pricing of furniture and electrical appliance. Looks like it will burn a big hole in my pocket. :|
  10. Hi there, I'm also currently waiting to get my keys of my 3-rm resale flat, and I have been refraining myself from buying any major items (like furniture and bulky items such as TV, dining set and so on) until i have gotten the keys, in fear of mismatched color scheme. Aren't u worried of that?
  11. Looks very cosy. Do u mind sharing how much did the ID quote you for these work? Also, how much was your COV??
  12. Got ah... the storeroom is between the living room and the kitchen. I have "purple lines" in my floor plan representing the storage racks.
  13. The floor space is not exactly big, and i am not sure if the kitchen is really that small. I just did a rough modification to the original floor plan intending to use the modified floor plan to get quotation. So it is not really to scale. I'm okay with a small kitchen as I'll be staying alone, and I won't be cooking much. The floor area is 84 sqm. 15 mins walk to Jem (my pace), 3 bus stops away. Hmm... i feel like i'm trying to "sell" my unit... even before i buy it.
  14. Hmm.... I did not think of that. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm trying to save some reno $$$ by reusing the existing built-in wardrobe in the unit, unless of coz the wardrobe is beyond usable condition. So an alternative location would be just besides the door, where the TV console is now.
  15. Thanks Makanology. I bought Jurong East because it is near to my family, so we could look out for each other. Hopefully the houses will appreciate due to the developments here. This is a corner unit, and there is supposed to be additional space in between the 2 rooms, which the "soon to be" previous owner has hacked off to make the MBR bigger. She also sliced the kitchen into 2 to craft out a dining area and a mini kitchen. I intend to retain the structure.
  16. Decided to stay on my own, and took the plunge to buy a 3-room resale flat at Jurong East. 2nd appointment with HDB scheduled on 15th Aug 2013. Need to start sourcing around to engage reliable contractor for renovation. Don't have a lot of cash left after the hefty COV that I will be paying, so have to do renovation on a shoestring. First timer here with house reno. Did some rough planning on a floorplan but not to scale. Can anyone comments if there's anything that I should be looking out for, or if there is anything generally wrong with my planning? Any improvements that could be done? Thank you.
  17. Mind to share how much is the reno package?
