  1. Oh my god, this is too funny hahhahahahhahaah If this happened to me, I don't know whether to laugh, to scold or to cry
  2. Looking good, Pokz! The finishing line is in sight!
  3. I need to give credit where credit is due and my hubby has engaged a SUPER decal guy. Last Sunday, the decal expert came down to our place (together with his lovely wife) to take measurements of the tricky kitchen wall where we intend to place the celebrity chefs wall decal (my hubby's pet project) as well as to check out the arcade machine (we intend to place decals around the machine to spruce it up). So there he was in the kitchen, taking precise measurements and taking photos before bidding us farewell. And yesterday evening, I've received the final mock up of the wall decal, graphically superimposed on the photo of my kitchen wall that he took so that I can have a visual impression of what the entire thing will look like once the decal is up in place. And I must say, I AM LOVING IT! Here's how the thing will look like once the decal is up - hahahaa I just noticed that his wife's reflection can be seen on the left of the picture, being reflected in the glossy kitchen cabinets and the microwave oven.
  4. Thanks Makan!! 你过奖了。。。不过说真的,真的是廷辛苦的。 We have unopened (and opened) carton boxes everywhere and Aki's a typical curious puppy, so he keeps trying to go sniffing around. And to make matters worse, he's so tiny and I don't think he's fully realized that his name is Aki yet so he has a tendency to go missing at times and yells of, "Aki, come here! Aki, where are you?" aren't responded to hahahhahahaha Worst of all, this is a traumatic time for him - new owners, new surroundings, new food... so you guessed it - his stools were a watery diarrhea at first, before becoming soft poops. They were a terror to clean up in the new house lah! Thankfully as of last night, they've become firm again. But I have to say this - I was a super proud mummy this morning when I saw that he pooped and peed (twice) on the pee tray on his own! He missed once so there was a small puddle on the floor, but 3 out of 4 ain't bad for a start!
  5. Oh no..... now you're dragging up bad memories of last weekend. We really polished the piano until our arms were aching. The hubby's piano came in a terrible condition - it was incredibly dirty and dusty. So we did the following steps: 1) We used a wet cloth to wipe off as much dust and dirt as possible. This required around 3 changes of water because the initial clear water had turned blackish grey and really couldn't be used any further. 2) After we were relatively satisfied that we have removed as much dust and dirt as possible, we started with the polishing. 3) We put a couple of drops of 'Unicorn High Grade Piano Polish' onto a microfibre cloth and started 'waxing' a small area in a circular motion. (I've googled this brand and apparently it's from Yamaha so you shouldn't have an issue buying it. The hub's piano is a Yamaha, so the polish came with the piano many many donkey years ago) 4) DO NOT LET THE LIQUID DRY. This is key. If it dries out, you'll be left with streaks on the piano surface. Using another dry cloth (we chose to use microfibre cloths that we got from a hardware stall (think it was 5 for $3 or something like that)), immediately start to buff the area that you've previously applied the Piano Polish to. Preferably in a circular motion as well. Do so until the polished area becomes shiny. 5) Keep repeating steps 3 and 4 until the entire piano is nice and shiny 6) Use a piano cleaning microfibre glove to clean the keyboard keys. It looks something like this - Once again, the hubs already has the piano microfibre cleaning glove and the unicorn polish (he keeps it in the piano seat) so I didn't ask him where he bought them from. 7) Step back and admire the shiny piano 8) Take photos of said piano and post them here on Renotalk. Hope this helps!
  6. Thanks Pokz1981! Now the hard work starts in earnest with the unpacking and cleaning..... Very very very tiring. (Did I put in enough 'very's? hmmm.....)
  7. Thanks for the super kind words potatoes you were the one who inspired me to set up a t-blog so it's kinda fitting to have you come in as i draw a close to my RT journey and leave the forums soon HIGH FIVE!
  8. Looks good Jnohclee! Congrats on the completion of your hweeyooooh renovation hahahhaha
  9. hahhahhah that's what we do too - only difference is that we eat on the coffee table instead shouldn't have wasted money on the dining table hahahah
  10. hahhahahaahahhhahaha now still enjoying the puppy stage before it suddenly becomes big without us realizing it
  11. Thanks for the kind words, Vi. Nope - he's the shy type hahahahhahha Still havn't gotten round to enjoying it yet. Got a tonne of unpacking to do and it seems that no matter how often we clean the place, it gets dusty and dirty so quickly.
  12. actually no, it's a Japanese Spitz hahahahahhhah step by step - now gotta focus on the unpacking and the potty training
  13. Thanks greg! Still trying to potty-train him though
  14. But without a doubt, the most exciting event of the weekend is the addition to our tiny family unit. No, I'm not pregnant - we welcomed a furkid into our lives! So in addition to moving and unpacking, we also had to constantly run around, mop up pee, pick up poop and continuously yell "No" at the furball. People of Renotalk, let me introduce you to Aki! Thankfully he hasn't learned how to climb the staircase yet - Probably plotting his escape - Ok, sorry, I know that this isn't reno-related. No more photos of Aki - good night!
  15. Funny how practically every single weekend seems to be jam packed.. wonder when all the dust will settle and we can finally sit down to relax and enjoy the house. Started off the weekend with a nice cup of coffee on our coffee machine (we chose a white colored machine to tie in with the overall theme of the place) to brace ourselves for the upcoming battle of the final move. Shortly after our breakfast and the coffee, the piano movers were here with the hubby's piano. After placing it where it belongs, cue the start of a frantic hour where we had to wipe down the piano numerous times - first to remove all the dust and dirt before getting to work polishing away on the piano with the help of a bottle of fine piano polish to restore its shine, resulting in sore arms all over. For some reason, the 'wax on, wax off' scene from The Karate Kid kept popping into my head while we were polishing the piano. Wonder if Daniel-san / Mr Miyagi are free to volunteer their services.... *hmmmmm* We also collected our coffee table and we're pleased with how the white coffee table is tying in with the overall look of the living room - So here's how the living room roughly looks like now while we're still awaiting the arrival of our rug and other decorative pieces from our 2nd Taobao order - I couldn't help but wonder if the additional pieces from Taobao will make the living room look more inviting....Guess we'll only find out after everything arrives and is in place. *fingers crossed* Sunday was the day of our final move so that was an extremely tiring (and sweaty) day. (Ok fine, I didn't really have to carry anything heavy. That was left up to the hubby, my father and the 3 bangladeshi workers. But in my defence, I had to supervise and constantly yell out words of loving encouragement like "Hurry up lah, so slow" and "Eh, be careful ah, don't scratch the parquet" etc. That's very tiring, you know?) Even though this is already the 2nd part of our move, we still managed to fill up an entire pick-up truck with our items - Several back-breaking hours later, my WIW is now playing host to a mountain of carton boxes. The unpacking carries on tonight after work (and every other day actually). We are like the worst hoarders in the world..... Wonder how long it'll take before the unpacking of approximately 40 carton boxes (packed to the brim somemore) is complete...
  16. Ironically, that's what he said He's going to turn down all meetup requests for some time to enjoy the house, the arcade machine and the new FM14 *roll eyes*
  17. hahahahaha High five for your wife. No idea why you guys need to clutter up the entire house with books. Can't you read e-books? It's not as if you guys are technophobes... Regarding the arcade machine, I agree - it's rusty and worn out. my decal guy is coming over to my place tomorrow to take precise measurements for my wall in the kitchen. i will ask him to check out the arcade machine to see if there's anything he can do to make it look more presentable. regarding the cost, I'll pm you
  18. And the arcade machine has been delivered, now sitting in one corner of the recreation room. The hubby is quite sad because due to a prior appointment, we were out yesterday and only got back home well after midnight, so he hasn't even had the chance to turn on the arcade machine to try it out as yet. However, he was bouncing around the shop while doing the test run of the machine because the arcade machine comes with an emulator box which contains 748 games (some of them are repeats and hacks from what I know), including his childhood favorites (we havn't had the chance to sit down and really explore the machine as yet but he was raving about games like three kingdoms, double dragon, puzzle bubble and King of Fighters) Here's a quick photo of it sitting in a corner of the recreation room, all plugged in waiting for the hubby to have fun - The hubby has been spending a lot of time in the recreation room during the unpacking process. He lovingly wipes each of his books before placing them on the bookshelves according to genre. This Sunday, he'll be bringing over another 200+ of his books from his mother's place so that he can fill up the bookshelves. I've tried telling him that once the bookshelves are full, he should stop buying books and convert to e-books instead. He simply told me that he'll 'make space somehow' *roll eyes*
  19. Thanks for the kind words oldskool My reno is very simple without any feature walls in order to keep my costs down. it certainly is no where as creative as yours is! Still in absolute awe over how you've managed to stick closely to your intended theme *thumbs up*
  20. Hi PrawnMee, zero complaints about the fanco fan. I've tried it on all the settings and even at its strongest, there's no discernible noise. Good strong wind. However, I must give credit where credit is due and bro Eric did a wonderful job of installing the ceiling fan. It rests nice and flush against the ceiling so I don't get any of the 'wobbling' you tend to see with poorly installed ceiling fans. I'm definitely not the only RTer who has engaged the services of bro Eric because I know that 3dyms also engaged him for all the ceiling fans in her EM over at Bt Batok.
  21. You're very welcome - plus they're a bit of a social enterprise so it's nice too
  22. My hubby is going to kill me if he ever sees this. He'll probably take this chance to tell me that if i can invite you guys over, he's able to invite his friends over for mahjong already that's when i'll really die hahahahahhahahhahaha
  23. I think that's an excellent idea! hahahhahahahaha if i charge $0.50 per game, I might be able to recoup a bit of my reno costs
