  1. Hi all, Anyone bought rugs/carpets from irugs.com.sg before? I was trying to find those modern rugs and seems like they carry a great selection and at a very attractive price. They offer free world wide shipping and has an office in Robinson Road but solely for administrative purposes. Thanks!
  2. Let us know of your first experience there benetay! For the value and quality, it's worth ignoring the staffs until point of purchase. Syafia, it was the same experience i had. especially on the first floor. that chinese lady, wouldnt even give us a 2nd look. such a great plc.. would have been the BEST if the staffs were the least bit helpful.
  3. Knew it Syafia!! Knew you would like it as much as I do! Glad to be of some help! I thought I have died too and went to heaven too Yeap. The service needs some redressing I feel. Some unpleasant events happened but because the furnitures were SO gorgeous and affordable, I closed one both eyes. For those going for the first time, my advice, self-service yourself hahaha. My TIP: If you need to know the price, look for the sticker pasted somewhere on the item. A= $100 B=$200 C=$300 D= $400 and the list goes on. So for eg, if the sticker on a sofa shows A299, it's simply means $1299! Just wondering whyyyy on earth they could not just print the exact price out! Because, when it gets to G, I had to manually count with my fingers LOL! Maybe next time I should come in a swanky luxurious car.. maybe i'll be treated differently. OOPPS!
  4. YES! . They are incredibly pricey aren't they. We ALMOST wanted to purchase a sofa from them but when we got to know they need 100% payment and items will arrive only 10weeks later, we thought that was ridiculous.
  5. I just checked JS website too. And it fits Country Glow's French theme. I'm not an ambassador for Taylor B or anything but yeah, you should check out the actual place in person. A gem! They are more towards European style- you'll definitely find something you will like there to suit your theme. And their website... doesn't really do justice. I love that place to bits, however the service could do a tad better though Pricewise, they have the most affordable chesterfields (yes I have a chesterfield too) in Singapore. I saw a very similar L-shaped chesterfield you are looking for at Pa****me, but they are generally more pricey than anywhere that I've checked out. Ive scouted JB too, nothing much. Cheaper yes but the transportation is quite a killer and more often than not, will make overall price unjustifiable. But of course, you can still have a look2 see2! Just so excited to find someone on the same boat!
  6. We have almost the same dining chairs. For furnitures, you might want to try Taylor B at Keppal Road. GORGEOUS stuffs.
  7. Hello! One word- FINALLY!! Finally someone on the same wavelength as me! I absolutely adore your concept. Am trying to adapt it for my new home too. Nowadays, everywhere I turn to, it's scandi/ retro/ industrial- no offense to those having this theme, it is beautiful in its own way but just not my cup of tea. Anyways, cant wait to the final result of your home. We seem to have almost the same moodboard.
  8. Hi Wei Ting, please share your experience. They were one of the ID firms we spoke to during the ID selection stage. Was a big disappointment. Had high hopes for them during the 1st meetup
  9. Price-wise, quite reasonable. The sofa I had my eyes on were usually going at above 2k, 1.8k the cheapest. But at Taylor B, it was between 1.3-1.5k? Just to quote an example though, not promoting them or anything.
  10. Nice chesterfield sofa you have there! I'm also getting the same tufted sofa but in fabric. Have you checked out Taylor B. They have really2 good furnitures- especially chesterfields
  11. Hi Doris, may I know where is the shop for the switches and sockets? RM6 is a very2 good price. I went Tampoi and its RM40/pc!
  12. Yes you are totally right wyx03_2002. We didn't take up his idea though. Just decided to live with the existing HDB tiles.
  13. We just made a trip down to Tampoi Lighting Centre (TLC) on Christmas Eve- the highly raved shop where most Singaporeans frequent. Honestly, we were kinda disappointed. Since we were from some lighting shops somewhere in Plentong (JB), the TLC seemed more steeper. Cannot even bargain. Claiming that prices have been greatly slashed. Personally, not really wow-ed with the collections. But if you happen to be in the area, there are a few lighting shops within the vicinity. We went in a few shops and bought a huge chandelier and some normal LED lights from Starworld Lighting, just a few shops down from TLC. They have more "modern" designs compared to TLC. We had quite a great deal with the chandelier, which in Singapore might set us back by at least 1k.
  14. Hi, im also looking for any comments for this co. Nothing major... just getting them to customize bedframes for my kids' bedroom. And so far, they are the ONLY ones with sensible quotes.
  15. Hello, mind sharing how much you paid for the whole set of digital lock? Keen on getting them as well.

  18. So, I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and start my own T-blog- not only for the purpose of sharing, but also for my own 'momentos'. This is it, my biggest debt ever possibly in our life- our house, a 5-roomBTO unit in the east. We opted for HDB's flooring and we are currently living with both regret and relief. Regret as the flooring and skirting are hopelessly ugly. Relieve as it was nice to know that we wont be forking humungous cash that comes with flooring. Unlike many others, we started out sourcing for quotations really late. Really late = few days after keys collection. It was an ocean of choices out there. I ploughed through renotalk/FB/ random blogs to get things started. For the record, the husb was more inclined in engaging contractors. And so I started the ball rolling and made appointments. 1) ID 01- Quite popular on FB. Works are quite impressive. Managed to convinced the husb to at least meet up a few IDs as we should keep our options open! So this was our first. Met with a lady at their office in Ubi. At this point, being completely noobs, we didn't know what to expect. Let's call her R. She displayed lack of experience during our first appointment- kept having to ask questions from he colls , which we later found out that she was actually the Designer/ Sales Exec and will not be at the site. 2nd meeting, which was a week later, she surprised us with a FREE 3D drawing of the kitchen. But it wasn't a pleasant surprise? If she took this as an opportunity to wow us, she failed miserably. Layout & color were all wrong! Position of sink and stove were in a mirrored position. It didn't help that I had provided her photos of how we want our cabinets fabricated and that I wanted a WHITE kitchen. The drawing, wasn't even remotely our kitchen. We strongly feel it was someone else's drawings - hoping this extra gesture would win us over. NOT. Revised quotation came almost 2 weeks later. Just like Queen Elsa from Frozen, I have to "LET IT GO". 2) Contractor 01- We arranged for a meeting at the new house. The moment he arrived the doorstep, no introduction no formality, it was immediately down to business "OK what you want to do?" His whole disposition made me feel as though he was in a hurry. He advised that our kitchen's carpentry would cost us a bomb for the space we were bestowed with. He took down notes and measurements on his clipboard and only introduced himself at the end of the meeting. Amusing! We received his quote a week later and it was a mind blowing $42k. But to be fair to him, he got all the things we wanted- including overlay of tiles in the living room and bedrooms. 3) ID 02- Very knowledgeable guy, this Mr R. Was initially looking for someone else in the firm but due to his popularity here, had to cut back and pass our project to a coll. Mr R holds a very high post in the firm, hence, we felt we would be in good hands. First meeting was ok. Lots of suggestions and good ideas. We were looking forward to the 2nd meeting ONLY because he acknowledged our budget ($30-$33k) and even assured us that with some disciplines (of not adding things), we can even be at $27-28k. How can THAT not blow us away?? We developed a liking towards him! We then lived in high hopes, waiting for his quote. 2nd meeting, 2 weeks later, excitement were weaning off after we met Contractor 03 (our Mr Maybe). In fact, things began spiralling down when we first see the final figure. We knew it would inflate. I had prepared myself for $40k at worst. I almost had a seizure! $53k! FIFTY- FREAKING- THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. He addressed the high figures, knew it was welllll beyond our budget but it was an all-in quotation and I rarely would need to add in anything. Ok let's see. He had many unnecessary items factored in! things that I have never asked for- bookshelves per se (ok lah... call it initiative if you must) . Things that we wish to be done, he deemed unnecessary. Things that we deem unnecessary, he was persistent. Kept on citing that it would be good for his portfolio. Self- centred much? Things got progressively ridiculous.. especially when he said there is a $3k design consulting fee atop this quotation that he was thinking of waiving off to aid our budget. Some checks with the friend who gave us this contact (for the first guy who couldn't take up our project), infuriated me further. She got so much more significant jobs at $44k! Overlaying of whole house, IQuartz for countertop (I got solid surface!), window grilles and many more! Which brings me to another point. Mr R couldn't relate why parents nowadays need grilles- "Children last time don't jump down what. Maybe kids nowadays jump down because see too much ipad lah". IS HE FOR REAL????? Come what may, even if I can have only ONE thing done, it would be the grilles. My kids' safety can never be taken for granted! He'd better be kidding though. 4) Contractor 02- Met him at the void deck of my mom's place. First impression, very uninterested. Easily distracted. Spaced out many times to answer his calls/messages. Not a good start. He spoke with little confidence (ie softly) touching his lips whenever he speaks. But as time passes by, he loosened up a bit. I find him actually sincere and funny. We got a quotation right there and the which he scribbled on a piece of paper. We requested for a proper quotation which he said might be able to provide that night itself. "Depends on my mood lor. Sometimes I go back lazy already..actually very easy to type one..30 mins can finish", I like his candour! It isn't typically something you would say to a client but that's reality and I like such forthrightness. However, cant picture him being the one. Thankfully, the husb agreed! The quotation came that very same night. It was hovering comfortably at our budget. Btw, I got in touch with him through the strong recommendations here. 5) Contractor 03- Mr Maybe. I call him Mr Maybe because he may be The One. Still coordination and negotiating as we speak. Was recommended by husb's coll. Still stung by those 2 earlier contractors, Mr Maybe turned out to be a pleasant surprise. First meeting was at our place. We can feel that he is experienced. Provided us some suggestions. Quite young (late 30s?) and we could connect well. Seems honest and reliable. Quotation came 3 days later as promised. Very pleasing to the eyes. But the figures have since ballooned as we requested for more additions. We wanted to overlay toilets but he was so dead against it. Not secure and will have NO guarantee We have yet to sign the contract, onto our 3rd quotation revision now. So far he has been very responsive. Wish us luck everyone!! Will update soon.
  19. Apple 1: That is scary! Im doing tempered glass door at kitchen's entrance just like you. And I have a BIG mirror at the dining area. Wow.
  20. Arshavin: Precisely. It's such a prefect reason why we should NOT have overlaying done but don't know why we are still feeling very stubborn! LionFlyer: My exact sentiments too. I guess we will just have to live with it for a while then.
  21. snowy89 : Yes, multiple suction is one of the option. The other "better" option, he (the contractor) explained that he will cut the glass to fit all the accessories nicely. This way, we will get all the accessories first, have them fixed, the glass will come later part- which according to him again, is a very clean job and can be done anytime even after the whole renovation is done.
  22. Hi all, Looking around for advice on toilet renovations. We have recently obtained the keys to our 5 room BTO flat in Pasir Ris. As we are all so well-versed on HDB's rule on hacking toilet tiles- that leaves us with the obvious choice of overlaying or just living with it for the next 3 years (or is it 5?). We were clear that we want to have the former done but our would-be contractor is highly against the idea. Same reason time and again- not secure and tiles will pop out. But, he made a suggestion to use glass backsplash instead. Price-wise, it is "more or less the same with overlaying". Has anyone opted this option before? The contractor said it is a better option providing both security and aesthetics. We are not sure. Overtime, will glass rust or gets mouldy? We are unable to imagine to have a toilet with glass all around. Will it look to stark? If anyone has done this before, it will be very helpful if you could provide photos to feed our very unimaginative minds. OR, if anyone did any overlaying in the toilets recently, your two cents worth will help us tremendously. Thank you!
  23. Hello, anyone able to share their quotation from Omus Living? Heard they are on the higher side but how high is higher? If anyone can give some heads up, that'll be great. Im meeting them soon.
