PJ is right, she would have drawn it to scale. Again the scale differs on a ratio, for eg; 1:25, 1:50, 1:100, 1:1000 scale ruler which you can check it out. It's a triangular shape ruler found at art supplies store for ID students. The dimension on paper will be different from reality where the same dimensions will be very normal to the eye.

I think what's described in this article could probably explain as well why BBron's cakes become volcano cakes.
