  1. Hi queen, I just engaged my previous master again since it's the new year soon and stars directions change. Maybe you can approach the master who you went to back when you got your flat and ask. Since according to my fsm, he say if got lift upgrading nearby can affect, and every year, the placements of fs ornaments sometimes shift. So all these if happen have to inform your fsm. My San Sha door next year will be my kitchen for instead of my main door. And if I do nothing, it may affect health. My kids were falling sick so often. So when last year my fsm say my kids room bad for health I freaked out. But it can be simply resolved by placing 4 metal rulers. Since move in til now, my little ones hardly fall ill as compared to my previous house.
  2. I did get a few quotes. From master Chang, from master Jeff etc. in the end I went with master Jeff Lo. I'm very happy you ask me whether work or not I dunno la. My previous house, I never do fs, jialat (could be bad luck) so my this house I really don't wanna take the chance you know... Even if the slim chance is 10% I never consult I also don't want:) so I Weng with master Lo. He help me see the date I should move in. Was quite tough. Cos it was either 2 week after I get key or like very long after then can move. So I really everything chop chop n move in by 2 weeks (good dates hard to come by.) Anyway, dunno is Fengshui or what la, but everything in my this new house very smooth for the last 6 months. Good luck in your fsm search!!
  3. Haha ivy!! The person scared you liao!! . Anyway I still appreciate you send me the list all those months ago to help me make a decision on which fsm I should NOT go with! Lol!! When go high tea??
  4. Hi everyone, Just thought to update since I got a few people asking me via PM about the Master I engaged. and it's been abt 4 months since i engage and about 3 months since i moved in. My background, I never believe this kind of things.. even til now, I just do it for 'erring on the side of caution'. This is cos my 1st flat at punggol, I kenna 1 mad pair of twin neighbours. got 6 dogs, call police say i steal her furniture which she throw all over the corridor, etc. In the end, I moved out, left the flat vacant for 4 years. finally i sold it! My audit was $499 for my 4 room. But after adding things like fengshui stuff (which i requested to be as cheap as possible. I just want ping an, I no need fa da chai) added up to $1000 plus. And after I asked one by one what this for, what that for? I minus until got $700 left. At that point I wanted to just scrap the whole fengshui thing.. Cos on top of $700++, I will have to cover up 1 row of windows (my recess area) so that my facing is considered 'good'.. otherwise my facing is very bad. In the end, I put 1 row of 3 Billy bookcases with doors from Ikea. covers up the window and no major reno.. So, 1 got 2 kids share 1 room, I and hubby 1 room and the remaining 1 room was for study. So the previous owner did cornices or light box surround the perimeter of the room on the ceiling. So no matter where I put the bed, it will be under a 'beam'. Which is ok. Since can put fengshui things to alleviate the 'pressing energy'. But to cut cost, I only put in my room and the kids room. Reason being no one sleeps in the study.. Anyway, since day 1 move in at the date my fsm tell me to, everything quite smooth sailing.. But also dunno got anything to do with good fengshui or just good planning,, Kids love the room since I took effort to buy nice sheets of their fav action hero, paint walls their fav colour and also put 2 rows of ikea shelving for all their barang barang. So, 1 month after CNY my mother in law wanna come to stay (she's from a another country) and we bought a sofa bed and put in the study for her to sleep. OMG! She complained of having bad nightmares until cannot move for the whole night for 1 week. and the next 3 weeks with me, she decided to camp out on my living room sofa.. .. ok so far she on the sofa, she say no dreams.. so we let her sleep there.. up til that point i never thought of anything. Just maybe change of environment cause her to have weird dreams. Then, since we bought the sofa bed in the study and open up, no body sleep on it, right? 1 of my kids decided to 'try' out the bed.. He always like to try new things. and the study some more got computer and games to play.. So weekend, we let him sleep there.. And the whole night, he was crying. every 2-3 hours awake 1 time, we go in patpat him he sleep then few hours later again... .. HE's 6 so normally he sleeps thru the night. He stopped when my hubby carried him to our bed and slept thru the night.. That said, I am really unsure if fengshui had any part to play with it, but somehow got coincidences leh. Apart from that, family life is quite smooth so I am happy. Even if it did not work, I will know that i did my best and will not keep second guessing myself "should I have done it or not arh?"
  5. I got the Bosch 6 place setting table top one. Only used 2 times since got it. It's good! But if I had a choice of best like, I'll go for the fisher price drawer that's built in. Super love that one. But alas, the built in already there and hubby don't wanna touch it. The other one we considered is the 9 place setting Bosch. 45cm width. But after measuring, no where fits... I bought mine from Harvey Norman at millennia walk. It's the cheapest due to promo. $799. But! Beware! They tell you inclusive of installation. But it's not inclusive of parts. You need to buy your own water splitter. N then when water is discharged, I tried to squeeze both my washer pipe n dishwasher pipe together. Then!! My whole kitchen flooded! Seriously flooded! But at most stores I asked, they say as long as got water point n discharge water hole, no problem and installation included. Those parts aren't expensive but it's not standard size and its a hassle to keep going hardware store and asking for something that you dunno the name of...
  6. Thanks! I called Roy for dismantling my feature wall left over by previous owner. Roy is conversant in English( rare with a lot of contractors ) and he is courteous and give info without being pushy. Will see him next week and ill update
  7. Yep! Me too! I wanna remove the existing feature wall to get back an original plain wall Where I can paint. Any one got good contacts to do this, please pm me!!!
  8. I just bought a resale, renovated 5 years ago. The wallpaper feature wall is coming out and torn off at various sites. How do I remove wallpaper by myself?
  9. My previous home, everything i got from Ikea. Got pros and cons... - 4 door wardrobe with sliding doors, - 2 door wardrobe for the kids room - 2 toddler beds, - short billy books shelves - tall bookcase - shelved cupboard with doors x 2 - 1 large study table, complete with keyboard trays etc - 1 coffee table - Expedit shelving - metal cutlery holder - all cutlery, - all dining wares (plates/cups/bowls) - curtain rods for DIY fixing - All lighting fixtures. - and plenty of wooden unfinish pine shelving. What is good: - dining wares. (if something breaks and chips, you got easy replacements) - tall skinny black bookcase, (fits in small corner in the wall. and still study.) - Expedit shelving (no mold) - curtain rods (easy enough that my hubby can fix all our curtains) - lighting for the whole house. (cheap and good plus easy to replace the bulbs.) -chopping boards, knives set. - wall shelves + brackets x 2 What is bad: - 4 door wardrobe, (they use cheap ply wood for the back of the wardrobe. So after 1 month... before i even moved in, all moldy) - 1 coffee table (the bottom of the table surface, turned moldy after 1 month.Plus, it sages. ) - 2 door wrdrobe for the kids room ( same as the 4 door, turned moldy) The above funiture, turned moldy within a month of delivery/assembly. I called up Ikea and every CSO I spoke to said a different thing. I got: - you did not stay in the house.. House no one stay, easy to get moldy. - your house moldy that is how it transferred to the furniture. - you did not clean your furniture. - the whole batch of plywood was moldy, so even if change for me, within a month will still be moldy. Since mold have 'deep roots' and 'spores' even if they changed, the spores would have gotten into the surrounding air and if change, it is likely to grow back. So I was advised to just wipe it down and clean the furniture as and when the mold grows back... When ask them to replace the moldy stuff, they refused. until I went down to their shop at Tampines and talk to the manager, armed with pictures of the mold, receipts, etc. I guess, since it was crowded, they did not want me to create a scene, so they agreed to change. So, they say "We will change to the 'better quality' wood for you. I did not understand how my house can be moldy... cos my other wooden stuff like a wooden dining set, seahorse brand cupboard (donated by a relative) and a wooden side table are all fine., except the IKEA plywood - The big study table.. (sags under the weight of a laptop after a while.) - cutlery holder and cutlery. (all rusty. Yes even the spoons and forks.. ) So, conclusion is while I still go to Ikea for diningware for my 2nd home, I will avoid all their wooden stuff (unless its very cheap and I don't mind throwing away) and their metal stuff that comes in contact with water, cos it'll rust badly. And Kitchen cabinet, why so ex at 9k? I did mine at 1.5k inclusive of the granite counter top. So if I add $400 sink, $100 mixer and $400 hob and $300 hood, 2 x $280 chicken brand pull out stainless steel drawers, still cheaper. My kitchen built in is 20ft running with a tiled floor cos I hate wood rot... ... So maybe yours is bigger.
  10. I got a quote from Master Chang since so many people engage him.. But with all the good comments, he also got a lot of bad comment. so I a bit scared. He quoted me $584 for a 4 room flat. So far, I decided after getting quotes to engage Master Jeff Lo after checking and seeing he is not in the bad fsm list. But since he only going to do my flat this weekend, I dunno if he is good or not. But he came recommended by my cousin. Apparently, he did for my cousin house first cos his wife is sickly. Then now his office too.. and his office like expand a lot since the last 2 years he engage this master. So, wish me luck people! He charging me $499 for 4 room flat.
  11. My sister and mom both bought the Baron W303 1-pc set at $288 in 2011 cos at tht time it was retailing at $400+. Then my sister's HDB (newly bought resale) keeps on getting choked. And we thought, maybe it is just her, never flush toilet after big business?? Then after like 1 week, my mom also fix.. My mother is very "on" sort when it comes to flushing. Whether is number 1 or 2 also flush. But still it got clogged up. Apparently, the flush cannot even handle 1 big business from start to end. Now, my parents have found a 'way' to counter that. If do big business, half way thru, need to flush. Then finish, flush again. Then it will not get clogged up. I find it very scary and like a time bomb waiting to explode at the most inappropriate moment. So I'm giving this Baron a miss for my flat. If you want very cheap for this Baron w303, the cheapest I have sourced so far before discovering it is the same as my mom and sis's is at a Geylang shop called bathworkz or something.. only $180 HTH!
  12. Thanks guys! Henry, your information is really useful! The one i see is retailing at $899 or $799 i cannot remember.. around there. any recommendation on which detergent is good and economical for everyday use?
  13. Wow Henry Bong! That was informative! Btw, how do you know all these info?? Do you own a Bosch dishwasher too? Also, how do I use the separate powder n salt etc? How much to put n put where? Looks like got 2 compartment to put right?
