Hey Yang Guo, if i'm not wrong, e sound is due to air in e pipes & some pipes r not fasten properly. It wil go off wen more ppl use e water. But i gues it wil takes some time.

Hey cyprusblade, i agree with jusnel. Yang Guo's advice on e pricing esp 'painting' r rite. The quotation is way too high, considering its from a Contractor, not Interior Design Company. If u havnt sign e contract, i wld say, DON'T SIGN IT. If u had signed e contract, i wld say, Please Counter-check With e Contractor e Quotation Again, On Each Individual Items. - wats e price of tiles? eg. $3.50 x per sq feet. - wats e price of carpentry? eg. $120 x per foot run (kit cabinet in laminate finish), $240 x per foot run (wardrode in laminate finish). - sliding or casement door wardode? With frosted glass? Aluminium frame? - if in veneer finish instead of laminates, it wil b +$20 x per foot run externally, +$30 x per foot run internally. - e types of materials he proposed 2 use? - e piping pricing is TOO HIGH. - e electrical pricing is TOO HIGH. - e painting, plaster, waterproofing pricing is TOO HIGH. - most of e items, personally i find ITS VERY HIGH IN PRICING. - e quotation quite detail but its detail til it wil makes 1 blur. Even its really e blur, u stil need 2 go thru every single item, s large amount of $$$ is involved. (if u got tons of $$$ 2 spend, i rather u donate 2 charity). If u were 2 show dis quotation 2 an Honest Contractor, i guarantee he will Aniway, jus my 2 cents worth of views + GST - discount. The choice is up 2 u.

Hey gadgetman, i kinda agree. i belong 2 1 of e units dat got superb North, South & East View. Can see e whole of Bishan, Potong Pasir, Kallang... Initially, i felt i kinda strike 4D/TOTO olso, but now seems like, i gona fork-out e 'lottery rewards' instead. Dear neighbours, who will be at ur units 2nite & 2mr nite? i wana go see fireworks + kpo ur nicely reno hm.

Las time wen i was a kid, during 'horse racing day' used 2 see e punters gather in super big groups at lor 5 area, est. >100 ppl young & old, men & women. Hey Mapleleaf, think its wiser 2 get it done ASAP. Ur neighbour (e 1 facing e lift lobby), i find 'they' r not so 'kampung-spirited/neighbourhood watch/helpful type etc). Cos dat day, after u mentioned abt ur chain kana cut-off thingy, e following day i wen dn 2 kpo. Wen i reach ur storey, jus happen dis neighbour is at his main door, he quickly closes his doors, lock inside his hm. I dunoe abt others. Hey Redwrym, Some may like e , some may not like e . For mi, i dun like e of shopping complex and cineplex jus beneath 79. It wld b good enough if it is situated opp 79 & jus across e rd. If a shopping complex cum cineplex is built beneath 79, there bound 2 b issues to arise -> 1) issues concerning the Rules & Regulations of Authorities; 2) issues concerning the Landlord; 3) issues concerning the Commercial Tenants; 4) issues concerning the Residents of 79; 5) issues concerning the General Public. Fyi, my current hm is above - wet market; - shops; - 24-hrs supermarket; - 24-hrs fastfood restaurants; - carpark; - mrt stn. Kinda sick of it oleady. Aniway, mayb i had think tooo far liao. Hey gadgetman, u r rite. Btw, e best view frm 79, personally i find its frm - blk C high levels units (esp #40, e centralize refuse chute hopper area there); - blk D high levels units (esp facing South); - blk E high levels units (esp facing South & East). Blk 79A & 79B, well, personally i find its view is kinda being obstructed by many High Buildings nearby.

Hey Yang Guo, i think alot ppl had missed-out or gona miss-out dis wiring issue. Think u gota find a win-win solution, then all ur neighbours can learn frm u. aniway, do u work or ever see e 'office' environment wher e employees have their own workstation? There is a 'hole' on e 'work-top' behind/near e computer. e computer's wiring round thru dis 'hole' & connect 2 their respective socket outlets. Wen dis 'hole' is not in use, a plastic cover is used 2 cover it. Mayb u oleady noe, preferable solutions r 1 & 3. !! i think u will need at least 3 'holes/slots/sleeves' in ur TV feature wall/console. - 1 behind e LCD TV, on e feature wall. (e feature wall shd b hollow) - 1 inside e tv console, at e center, at e part wher e console & feature wall meets. - 1 on e top surface, at e centre of tv console. end of e day, e 'thin' wiring of e speakers stil can b seen wen after connected, u place e speakers at different corners. unless u wana drill 2 'small' holes jus for dis speakers' wiring. !! e 'thick' DVD player wiring is connected & hiden inside e tv console & feature wall. !! Dunoe u understand wat i meant anot. aniway, i'm not really pro in e elect thingy. jus my suggestions. Hope it helps in one way or another.

Hey neighbours, like dat huh? then y dun write a petition letter 2 e MP of Toa Payoh GRC, ask them 2 use e linked-building beside MSCP, convert it 2 a Child-Care Centre, instead of a RC Centre? i think Child-Care Centre wld b more practical. If 1 were 2 look at all e existing RC Centres in Toa Payoh, - i believe he/she wil see most of e centres r closed most of e time. - i believe e RC centres r only open wen there r 'planned' activities takin place, esp during e festive seasons. - i believe e RC centres r set-up more 4 e 'senior citizens' 2 gather around & chit-chat / TCSS etc rather than 4 us (young families). - i believe e 'senior citizens' r more comfortable in their current turf (void decks, esp blk 179). - i believe if there's really a need for a RC centre at e 79 MSCP there, then by upgrading e Toa Payoh Ctrl CC, its a waste of $$$, resources & time? Somemore built until 4-5 storeys high! - i believe we can propose 2 use either (1) e building beside MSCP or (2) Toa Payoh Ctrl CC, 2 set up a Child-Care Centre to cater 4 e upcoming 79 neighbourhood's Future Leaders - i believe most of e 79 neighbours r gona agree with mi. - i believe u'r now thinkin of who shd write e petition letter? (i oleady hav 1 in mind. she is e 1 who wrote 2 e relevant authorities regarding e ERP thingy) Aniway, these r jus my 2cents worth of tots + GST - discount.

Hey ms_white, i dun wana b e 'bad' guy mah. At least giv others some glimpse of hope. Regardin e reno debris / discarded items / rubbish, i believe e ID/contractor hav e duty 2 throw them in2 e 'tank' behind e future foodcourt, provided by Town Council. So far, i'd seen; - most contractors jus leave e debris at e lift lobby / centralized refuse chute area / isolated area. - e IDs/contractors instruct e Bangalashi haulage workers 2 throw 4 them. Since residents pay conservancy fees; - mayb somebody (esp those oleady moved-in) shd call-up Town Council & check with them. - if not, u jus shift e debris away frm ur main dr 2 e common corridor loh.

Hey nautilus, Resale flat reno is like dat 1. Demolition works by itself, already add up 2 thousands of $$$. Then gota add in e new works' cost, it wil b a hefty sum. Aniway, personally i find - e quotation pricing is quite reasonable. - e items r very clearly listed out. (No hidden cost) . - e elect quote is not high, considering e nos. & types of pts & works. - frm e way e quotation is itemized, i believe they r quite organize & detail in their work. If u were 2 get another quotation frm another ID co, mayb u wld b able 2 judge e pricing. But i gues dis quotation is a very gd benchmark. Can PM mi e ID co? Would like 2 find out more abt them.

Its gona b another bz & tiring period again So u'd replaced ur cooker hood 2 1 w/o chimney & glass-wings? Or u ask e workers 2 'modified' e chimney 2 a shorter 1?

By brush? - e white homogeneous floor tile is priced at $? per sq ft? Brand? Frm China? - e floorin at dry kitchen izit 'African Black' laminated flooring frm 'supreme'? Ur peppermint loft is definitely - e biggest hdb 2 bedroom unit in SG i'v ever seen; - bigger than many pte apt; - well designed than many pte apt.

Hey droplets, s i mentioned, e prices r rough guide. If were 2 really check-out e market rate, i believe it wld b cheaper. All e pricing i'd posted r obtained frm IDs or Contractors during my course of reno hunting. It wld b gd 2 share around but it may not b e most accurate, s every co got their own profit margin. Actually, i kinda grateful 2 e neighbour who intro mi 2 Renotalk. i had - gained invaluable knowledge; - got 2 noe tips & lobangs; - got 2 noe new neighbours; - got 2 make frnds who r like-minded, eversince. But e funny thing is, i had yet 2 noe who is she & hubby in dis forum. Mayb they jus wana b anonymous. i stil remember they told mi they had confirmed 'everythin regarding their reno', its only a matter of gettin e keys & start e 'show'. Btw, dat was half a yr ago. Latest update is dat i'd saw their main entrance foyer bein laid with pebble wash finish.
