  5. Dear All Quick question, what type of padlock are you all using for the main gate? It seems as though the HDB given gate can only fit a certain type of padlock? I wanted to get the Duro padlock from DIY shop but not sure whether it will fit? Confused Angel
  6. Hi Crazycar!! Just to check with you, did u have any issues with the height of the rain shower? We measured the length from the hdb given tap/mixer to the beam and it was abt 1.25m, but most of the rain showers we saw were abt 1.3m and above! how did u manage to install the rain shower in the MBR? From the pics, i can see that u even have space in between the beam and the shower head! If u dont mind saying where u got it fr and whats the height fr tap/mixer to showerhead? thanks!!!! !! Angel
  7. Hi Everyone! Need your expertise on these.... 1. Storage Heater - for those who installed the 30L electrical storage heater, is it true that the switch for the heater can only be at the kitchen (outside the common toilet)? Does that mean every morning we have to walk to the kitchen to switch it on? 2. Rain Shower - For those who installed rain shower in the MBR toilet, did you face a prob with the height as we have a protruding beam hiding all the pipes...? Is it high enuf and does not hinder the rain shower?
  8. hi xlan.... take yr time.....don stress so much....sigh....i also get stressed sometimes thinking abt all the things that need to be brought over. can check with u where is the toyogo warehouse and is it cheaper than the storage boxes at ntuc/carrefour etc? Angel.
  9. Did anyone make their kitchen door to slide to the front? i.e infront of the DB? If yes can we still use a magnetic stopper? Will it hinder the door? My door slides to the front....so was wonderin which is better....
  10. Hi Yang Guo Is the door stopper effective? Can tell us where u bought fr and for how much? Thanks!
  11. Today we faced the first upset in our reno.....the washing machine base is too small for the washing machine we have bought originally the base width was supposed to be 65cm while the machine's width is 60cm. when we went to check today realise the base is only 61.5cm! moreover the machine's water outlet is at the side instead of the back...there was no way the machine could fit in. at first was very upset with my id for shortening the width and told her to change.....but then realise there is no way cos the concrete wall support has to be in line with the beam if not very ugly. sob sob. now we have to go back to gaincity and try to convince them to allow us to change the washing machine... sigh.... donno whether we can get another nice silver machine to match our black and silver kitchen theme.... just wondering, why is a concrete wall even necessary? cant the kitchen sink be done without the wall at the back? sighzzzz.....
  12. Hi Rav yes yes! good fridge! my hubby loves the ice maker inside the fridge.....we also wanted a silver/stainless steel fridge as our kitchen is supposed to be black cabinets and silver electrical items to give a contrast i bought at Gaincity because I wanted the extended warranty la... actually Hong Liang at Alexandra offered $740 but they dun have extended warranty, i was abit worried as the fridge comes with the panel in front and am afraid it might spoil fast so decided to buy at gaincity so that can get the extended warranty.
  13. Hi Happy/Raven I dont think its necessary for the wall to be 1m. My washing machine is quite big and tall (more than 1m) and including the base, it will be close to 1.1m. So I have asked my ID to make the height of the wall 1120mm (1.12m) which is exactly the height of the beige tiles on our kitchen wall. I am sure they can adjust to what we require since we are the home owners! Angel
  14. Hi Kelvin! Your reno looks good so far. Good luck with it! Can I check with you on yr Alumix wardrobe....how much does it cost and for how many feet? I am planning to put a 4ft by 4ft (small WIW kind) in the guestroom but have not decide what kind exactly....abit confused actually. There's so many companies doing this nowadays! Angel
  15. Hi Linggie If I am not wrong, when it comes to heaters these are the options we have: Option 1. Instant Heaters - These are the traditional heaters that are placed inside the bathroom connected directly to the showhead. Good: Hot water is almost instant and its hidden from public view since its inside the bathrooms Bad: Downside is that they are not EXTREMELY HOT compared to options 2/3 and you can't get hot water at the toilet sink taps or the kitchen sink tap. Option 2. GAS Storage heater (e.g Rinnai) - I called city gas, they dont have the free gas heater anymore The new batch of heaters (apparently bigger than the old ones) will be coming in April and from what I gather they are not gonna be free. i believe it does store water since they have different capacity?? Not sure.... Good: Hot water is instantaneous and you can get hot water at the toilet sink taps or the kitchen sink tap. Gd for washing face on cold days and washing oily utensils! Bad: These have to be placed at the designated place outside the common toilet as the piping has been done by HDB. Heard that the "pop" sound that can be heard when its turned on is pretty loud, not sure how true. Also some ppl feel that having gas heat up the water is kinda dangerous (e.g leakage etc). Option 3. ELECTRICITY Storage Heaters (e.g Ariston - 30litres) - Storage tanks which store water (duh!) and are run by electricty (again duh!) Good: Hot water is extremely hot, you can get hot water at the toilet sink taps or the kitchen sink tap like option 2. Also no worries of gas leakage. Bad: Hot water is stored in the big tank and thus it takes abt 10 mins for the water to heat. Believe these also have to be placed at the designated place outside the common toilet as the piping has been done by HDB. Heard that if more than 2 persons shower, the water in the tank runs out and have to wait another 10 mins before water to heat up. This is what i gather from having read the forums.....Others pls feel free to correct me if i am wrong! i am planning to go for option 3. angel afternote -- haha just realised many ppl have replied to the post on heaters while i was typing the long story above!
