  1. Anyway, just a quick update, the shops at Concourse have moved to Tekka Mall, level 5. Was just there over lunch time. 5 feet xmas trees range between $55 - $110. Not say very cheap but quality is quite nice.
  2. My new condo was renovated by Candy and May. I am very happy with the designs and actual implementation of the works. Candy, May and all of their sub-contractors are dedicated, hardworking and accomodating. I am sure the excellent service attitude that you are seeing in the sales process will surely translate into the actual works itself, for I have experienced it myself.
  3. I have used Goodhill Enterprise to cover up the planter box on my balcony. Quite reasonably priced. You can call Darren @ 93666246
  4. Oh no....I am doing some hacking of walls to extend merge my masterbedroom and study room. Man, i better keep my eyes peeled with a big big torchlight on that day. I think better take leave the whole day to observe the hacking process. I was telling her that I am afraid that the hacking of the wall which is near toilet may damage the tiles of my toilet due to vibrations. She assured me that it will not. I asked her if damage how and she was not able to give me a convincing reply. Better agree with her upfront first and get it in writing.
  5. Hi Chris, Agree you with you on the wallpaper bit man. She charged me about the same price for 1 piece of wall as well. In the end when I went to Goodrich direct, I can have my 4 walls wallpapered for the price of 1. I can understand if margins are charged for areas where there is high value add like designs of carpentry work, wall / mirror features. If it is simple as taking paper, putting glue and pasting on the wall, I would expect the margins to be lower. Thanks for the tip on the last payment thingy.
  6. For her to say that it is an "Act of God" is surely WRONG! Act of God usually refers to natural diasters like earthquakes, floods, blizzards, storms, lighting strikes etc. I think it is more of like "Act of the Unskillful Plumber" If she is unwilling to change the base wood, you may like to document formally in writing to her and make sure it is noted. And if within 3 years of the warranty if you have issues like bubbles on the laminates or bad deteroriation in the wood, you can hold her responsible to it. Just my suggestion.
  7. We have completely revised the initial quotation as there were quite a few items being removed and others being added onto it. The 3D perspectives drawings have been agreed. Lighting plans are in review now. I am collecting my keys next week so Candy and I should be on-site to take exact measurements for the carpentry work. No one is perfect, that have been good experiences and areas for improvement. My comments so far.... Good Stuff - Candy has been pleasant and patient with us. She and her team came up with many options (at least 5 options per perspective view). In total, ~30 drawings have been done. She has been nice to show us all the different types of laminates that can be used and has never rushed us to finalise our choice till we are comfortable. - The MasterBedroom and Walk-In Wardrobe area have been designed very nicely. The resort theme style was exactly what we have envisioned it to be. Good work on this. - Lighting plan was ok and strives to highlight key wall features. Standard stuff, not particularly creative. Areas for Improvement - We do not think TIP is particularly comfortable with the "Greek modern classical" theme that we wanted for our living and dining areas. For more of what "greek modern classical" is, you will have to check with my wife. We have tried to illustrate our vision by showing them pictures from Architectural Digest and modern classical hotels in Europe. However, the eventual product was not something that we really wanted. Many of the wall features in the living / dining areas were our own ideas in the end. - Pricing is steep. We have removed quite a few items from the original quotation cause my wife and I had contacts with cushion makers and wallpaper applicators. Hence we decided to do the wallpaper and bay windows cushions on our own. That has helped us save some money. This is our 1st home together so everything also have to buy new and is burning a serious hole in our pocket. Hence this is all I have to say to date. Will surely share more stuff later when it goes into implementation. Good things and not so good things as well so that all can decide for themselves.
  8. Very entertainting to read and filled with info. Keep it up. Bookmarked the page already. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Hi Chris, Think you should really share your story cause I think people on this forum are reasonable folks. There are good IDs and contractors out there who have got very good praises from the folks here so I think each can judge for themseleves. The sharing of your story may help lots of people be aware of the areas where these IDs and contractors may try to smoke us in the areas where we overlook or lack experience in.
  10. Yeah, dun lose heart. Plan early enough and never feel pressurised to make any decisions. Give yourself enough time and if you do not feel comfortable about anything at all with regards to the ID, usually your instinct is right and so walk away. Check out this forum and do a search on the good IDs which have won praises from real actual customers and not just awards which they can just satisfy some superficial documentary requirements and pay $$ for. Cheerios
  11. Maybe...just maybe the owners of Cisceern has a vested interest on this forum. But nonetheless, I must say the Cisceern has very good marketing and business management strategies. Lots of publicity generated and from a business standpoint, it is a good business model. But not impressed with their designs so far. "P
  12. My ID is The Interior Place and we have been quite happy with them so far, still at 3d drawings perspectives review phase. Pricing wise, dun think it is good to share lah, cause everyone will wanna do different things, you can even install gold tap if you wanna you know...haha!! I have commented on them in another section of the forum, you can take a look here. Hope it helps. Cheers. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12513
  13. Electical appliances are like PCs. They are technology based. You should try to get them last because as new models and better technologies come out, the older models will become cheaper. Take for example, I wanted to get a 50inch Pioneer Plasma - HD Ready for my place. In Dec 07, the thing was selling for $7999 at HN. In Feb 08, it was selling for $5999, all in a matter of 2 months!!
  14. Harlows, would recommend that you goto KEC to take a look. I went there with my wife, brought along our own music cds and movies dvds and tried it on 3 different systems. They are veri nice and patient with us, plug and unplug all the 3 systems to let us try. Dennis is a good man and sincere sales person. We probably got the best service from them for a audio shop. In the end, we bought a Tannoy Arena HTS from them. Do go down and listen for yourself. Cheers,
  15. I am going for the Modern Classical theme at my place. If you are looing for such shops, may I suggest you can goto Park Mall - Level 1 and 3, Furniture Mall - Level 1, Robertson Walk - Level 1 and Kaki Bukit where you can get country furnitue at wholesale prices. Do not goto places like The Cottage Place and Iwannagohome, they are just complete "sucker" places to goto.
