Haven't been updating this blog much for the past week or so. Too busy with work and other stuff... Anyway this week, the aircon and lighting are all up. Just recieved permit for the window works so that should be next. Also, the carpentry should begin fabrication now and its the start of a long wait before everything can be installed. The paper protection on the floor has been removed and I guess the chemical will begin once the touch up of the tiling works are completed. Some pictures to share Living room lighting Warm light Warm + Day light I think the warm light is nice... If there is a need to brighten up the entire house, we can turn on both warm and day light but that will suck lots of electricity!! View from living room to dining room Ceiling fan I really like this fan! The 54" blades are a transparent arcylic material and it looks resort-tish yet modern. According to the shop, this is the latest model and definitely look better than the other wooden or metal blades fan I've seen so far I cant turn it on yet cos the wiring to the regulator is not done. It will be wired only after my carpentry is up since the regulator is going to be mounted on the side of the shoe cabinet. So I have no comments on the wind speed yet. Balcony cozy light The bird nest balcony light, together with the outdoorish tiles and warm wall colours, gives the balcony a really cozy feel. Too bad the balcony faces the next block so we cant put 2 relax chairs there MBR lights Simple downlight in the MBR Normal light Warm light Guestroom and study lights Both rooms are using the same light. Luckily our unit comes with concealed wiring so no trunkings are seen although there's no false ceiling here. Toilet and kitchen lights Nothing special in the choices of these areas. Chose practical and bright lights such as the dog bowl lights. Switches We decided to use the Hager switches provided by the electircian instead of changing everything to legrand. In terms of outlook, cant see much diff btw hager and the other brands. This is the Hager timer switch installed in the DB box to control my foyer light. The light will turn on everyday at a specific time. A really neat way to do it. Aircon Aircon is finally installed. We tested it for an hour and searched for leakage along the piping but eveything seems ok. We got the Mitsubishi Starmex Sys 3 Non invertor. Couldnt see how well the compressor was installed since the place was quite dark.

The quote i got for my 707 compact is $185 and 707 Alpine is $195. But these were lumped purchases with my taps so the guy gave me further discounts on the quoted price eventually. Got them at royal fanco.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, the 3rd one is simple and elegant. I like the 1st and the 3rd one best but cant make up my mind. I guess the other 2 might not be obstructed by the TV cos I'm getting a 37" or 40" at most and from calculation, there will be space left on the side...

Self Designed MBR Corner TV Console This is a tough one to design! I am going along with sliding doors instead of the fold down glass doors the ID suggested. After so many permutations, I have yet to come up with one I'm truly satisfies with. These are the few better ones IMHO. Please give me some suggestions if you can MBR Corner 1 MBR Corner 2 MBR Corner 3 MBR Corner 4

Self Designed TV Console + TV Feature I decided that I should try to draw out how I visualize some of my carpentry to look like rather than hope that the ID can come up with something I like. So spending after spending 1 hr in front of the computer, I managed to draw out my ideal console and some feature walls to go with it. Comments are greatly welcomed Feature 1 Feature 2 Feature 3

Both the toilet bi-fold doors are up These new doors definitely close and open better than the original HDB ones. Come to think of it, what happened to the original ones? Seems a pity to throw them away. Common toilet closed Common toilet opened Shower screen in MBR toilet also up. The installer paid attention to little details like adding a rubber cushion to prevent the swing door from touching the wall and rubber lining to better seal up the opening between the swing door and the static piece.

I went over today to take a look and some additional stuff have been done. Painting has been completed for all the white walls and 1st coat of the dark and coloured walls is up. ID was saying the 2nd coat will be done after carpentry is up because if these darkers walls get dirty, touching up will result in uneven patches. So its better to do the entire 2nd and 3rd coat after carpentry. Living room - The darker wall will have the TV console and the colour turned out pretty well. Luckily I used this instead of Mocha Delight as it is just the shade I want. Mocha will be too dark... MBR - Will be considering a darker colour for our headboard now since the wall is of a lighter shade. Maybe we will choose dark drown suede as the headboard + bedframe material Guestroom Study room - We thought for a long time before deciding to go ahead with this colour. This is the ICI Vintage Yellow and it definitely makes the room vibrant and cheery, great for a study/relax room . I like the result after the initial coat, hopefully it will look even better after the 2nd coat. Stuff stowed away in store room

How much did ur metal gate cost eventually?

My ventilation fan also done by Aluminium Central. $214 each is really a good price and they use the bigger diameter fans. But price excl wiring though.

U like the corner console? I find it a bit too big lei. And the front panels could be done better. Will definitely make my ID re-design it. I've been playing around with the shelter feature on photoshop. Hopefully can come up with something. I've also got an idea on how the TV console should be, maybe will try drawing it with google sketchup Tmr will be lighting installation... Hope my lights turn out nice
-
What do u define as small fridge? What dimension and how many litres?
-
Due to restrictions after advice from FSM, we can't put mirror at the shelter area nor use black in the entire house. The more I look at the drawing, the more I think I need to make some changes to make the living room less complicated. Maybe I should sit down and draw it out myself rather than hope the ID can comeout with something I want...

After pondering over the 3D drawing again... I am still not totally satisfied with it. There are still some things that I thing can be improved: Living room 1. TV console - Personally I dont like the glass panels. I am thinking of replacing all the doors with white laminates. Also, I think the console corners will look nicer with rounded edges. 2. Shelter feature - The placement of the brown laminates could be improved. Seems like there are too much brown laminates on the left side of the wall. I will have to think of a better arrangement MBR 1. Corner tv console - This is a real headache. On one hand I want this console to hide the trunking. On the other hand, the trunking seem less obvious now after the painting and I'm afraid it wont turn out as nice as I hope. The one in the picture is frankly quite ugly :( Anyway, will try to redesign the console to be smaller and lower. Again, I dont like the front panels. Maybe using sliding doors will be nicer? 2. The left side of curtains should extend behind the console and not end abrubtly in the middle of the room. Kitchen 1. Will remove the glass panel on the left side and extend the cabinate doors downwards. Somehow i really dun like these greenish glass panels. For the dish rack I have no choice but to use it 2. Need some large drawers for pots and pans. Need to redesign the layout of the doors. Overall the pictures can still be improved. Hopefully the next revision wont take so long cos my carpentry fabrication is suppose to start soon! Also, I wonder why my ID always send me scanned versions which are grainy while some of you with steven can get the large high resolution versions

Finally the updated 3D drawing is sent to me!! Overall I think this set of drawing is much better than the last round. However, there are still some small details to sort out with ID. Living room - Added TV feature wall and changed the laminate and design of the shoe cabinet & shelter feature. But I am still not satisfied with the TV console. Probably that will have to be changed but overall I think it is much nicer than before Before: After: Before: After: Master Bedroom - The only addition here is the corner TV console to hide the aircon trunking. But I think this console is a bit too big and too high. Will have to get ID to change this also. I am thinking of something lower and not at a 45 degree angle so it wont obstruct the walkway so much. MBR toilet - Added open shelfing below the vanity top. Its going to be where all the towels will be kept. Before After Kitchen - Chenged the laminate used and now the kitchen look more like what we want. Only thing left to sort out will be the placement of the drawers and stuff like that. Before After

No problem. The shop is Home Theme Pte Ltd. 3rd floor of Furniture Mall. Think it cost me $399. On hindsight, its a bit expensive for a table its size but its very nice Alternatively you can go to Marina Sq Muji. I saw a few tables that look like glass ones but upon close inspection, they were made of acrylic. No danger of shattering and the sizes they had were the ones I wanted too. Too bad I already bought mine Anyway the Muji one was $199 only.

No la. My lightings bought already. Can see my blog for those I bought and the prices. Cos I find the prices u listed a bit high Got mine at Chelsea Lightings. They have a lot of those rectangle lights selling $110-$140 only and the 2nd light seem expensive too. In terms of looks, 2nd light looks simple but nice. 3rd one will complement woody furnitures but if your design already has a lot of wood maybe for lights you should choose something with more glass?
-
Where did u see these lights?
-
Which model are u guys using??
-
Not sure if you can purchase it separately... Why not walk into serta shop to check it out? Even if they do sell you it's prob going to be in the range of $1000 cos the frame + bench is $500 with matteress purchase.

ID just called me... Says my 3D drawing will be done by tmr if no more hiccups... Finally! Painting going on now and lighting is scheduled to be installed this weekend. After one week of inactivity, things are moving again
-
No la, besides, painting, lighting and window, I still have ALL the capentry, aircon installation, shower screen, toilet doors, window grilles... These are the ones I can remember... You can see my t-blog for the condition of my place now... Its pretty updated...
-
Initially was quite fast and ahead of schedule but the past week things have slowed down. My tiling, ceiling, piping and electrical done up already. Next phase should be painting then lighting installation. I just received a permit on window installation so I guess thats coming up soon also. He told me things are slow cos many of the workers are tied up so he have to delay some things. The 3D is still not ready cos the drafter is slow!!! Think ideal house business too good Anyway today supposed to start painting. Maybe will ask him for an update later. So far I find him accomodating to changes and most importantly, I think he is an honest chap. He should try to be more assertive on certain things though, like getting the drafter to draw faster!!!

So how do u find your ID so far

I ordered a Serta Missouri today. Got quite a good deal. Can see my t-blog for details

Yeah I got the bench. Its free in my case and I think you should be able to get it if you pay $99. You can see my t-blog for more details
