  1. Notice everyone sing praises on the Blum runners, will take note of it. Thanks.
  2. Just a question...do I need to get the Roomba for vacuuming and the Scooba for mobbing or is one sufficient?
  3. Wow...after reading through I am really tempted...but with my reno coming up...lots of things need to pay...so may skip this till later unless got a real tempting offer...but this is definitely on my list, then my wife won't complain I never do house work...I just let the (i)robot do it. Heehee...
  4. My previous one got no cover, much like what you see in the Ikea catalogue. Like that look more chio I guess...hahaha...
  5. Yeah, I guess the only way is. Remove existing fan coil, so old compressor now supports 2 fan coils. Than install a new single split system. So end up with 2 compressors. You need to have the space to house the 2nd compressor. I only problem is, it will be **** messy to clean up after that...heehee...so for my new house, think have to one time pain and install all inverter.
  6. Never can afford such a vacuum cleaner so will not even look at it I do know FD (from class95) owns one and swears by it. But for that price...I don't know...I am not in the same income bracket as FD definitely.
  7. I Have use the Ariston FB 51.2 IX and loved it but have to leave it to the new owners when we sell our house. It serves all our purpose so most likely will get the same for our new house. It's affordable but not sure if it serves your functions. Mayer now having sales for this model think cost $629.
  8. I personal preference (many may disagree) is LCD. And those non glossy type. I reason is LCD have no reflection and very good for putting in the living room where you got lights from window, ceiling light and all that reflects and making it difficult to see the screen and hurt your eyes. Cons of LCD is the color not as rich, so some manufacturer now put glossy glass panel to make the color rich but for me, it defeats the purpose as now it reflect lights. Another good thing about LCD is no burn in problem (or at least not so easy). Mine I have it for more than 2 years and not burn-in problem (yet) but my mum's plasma less than 1 year already face burn-in problem. So for me, my choice is clear. But it may not be for you.
  9. I am using Thomson slim type (those suppose to be front load but slim and open from the top). Quite good, finally died after...gosh...can remember how long...but was a looong time....more than 8 years definitely. So tempted to get another Thomson but now very tight budget so also no sure how. I prefer this slim type. I am still using the dryer.
  10. Was considering Ikea kitchen (some may know I am a Ikea fan), but my bro say the wood use are not as good. But the last kitchen I did the contractor also ended up using lousy wood as I also have no idea which wood is good and which is not. And that kitchen cost me 5K. I estimated this kitchen if I can from Ikea everything in (including installation) will probable cost me 3-4K. If I do outside, with my bro's lobang, probably about 4K+ (but with better wood as my bro assure me). So I have still not decided, but most likely will trust my bro. So, if you are comparing with outside contractor, may sure they use better wood, wat wood I also dun know maybe some forumers can shed some light. I'll try to check with my bro too. One thing I like about Ikea kitchen is the internal organisation. The drawers are excellent and very quiet. One way to get around, if you can get a very trusted contractor, get the internal from Ikea and pass to your contractor so they can construct something that can fix those internal stuff. My bro-in-law did that.
  11. Don't like Morris, went there coz I saw an advert went there nobody know which set is the one advertise, so bought me to see 3 other sets in 3 levels (wonder if they trying to buy time) that is not related to the one advertise. Gave up, went home. Ikea has a 2.5 seater at $695 which is half leather which you might want to consider. Just walk past Seahorse last Sun and got some on offer at less than $700 including L-shape I think. Courts...well...I better not say...got some cheap ones but...hmm...may not need to go and see unless you happen to walk past.
  12. I use to get from IMM, but their lighting shops seems to have shrunk tremendously, so may give them a miss this time round.
  13. You can say I am bias but so far I still find Ikea got some of the nicest sofa design. Of coz I am talking about that price range (1K-2K). If you got more than 2K budget, than there are a lot more nicer ones like Lorenzos and a few others. Check out the Straits Times everyday also got sofa advertisement.
  14. I also got a shoe cabinet from V.Hive (shoe cabinet is not Ikea's strong point). Not bad, got holes at the door so the shoes won't be smelly, quite sturdy and nice looking. They deliver and assembly. Will be looking for another one from them most likely, unless got better alternative. Price is reasonable.
  15. yeah...I know what you mean...my seahorse pillow was serving me well than one day I suddenly can't sleep well and it has been for a while now. But it did last me for about 2 years I think. Time to change one. Maybe I'll just get another new seahorse one...the tempur one seems like very good huh. But at 200+, but if it can really help and last for a long time, maybe can consider. Those who have use tempur, how long have you been using the same pillow?
  16. Hi, I am an avid Ikea supporter since my last house has 90% ikea furniture. Heehee...but I am definitely not from Ikea. So here is my 2cents worth. Billy Bookcase - bought in 1998. Still using today. Got 3x60cm, 1x80cm, and 1x Corner, + 1x Benno CD rack. All shelfs fully utilized. Even put encyclopedia in the top 2 shelves. Not sure if I am blessed, none of the shelves have warp. I moved from original room to another room after reno in 2005, than in 2007 moved it to my mum's place while waiting for my new house. Will be moving to my new house soon so will shift them over again. Just check, condition still good. Will be adding doors and extension unit to it when I move since still in good condition. Lack Table - after 2-3 years, threw away and bought another same one. Coz so cheap, can afford to throw away every few years. Vika Table - 1st 2 tables (from 1998) threw away during reno in 2005, already in very bad condition (warp badly), than in 2007 threw away the the 150cm one, realise too long warp easily, the 120cm one still in good condition so gave to my brother. Will be getting the 120cm one for my next house. Sofa - bought from Ikea in 1998 the 2 seater sofa, super comfortable, sat on it in the showroom and decided that is the one. Did not do any maintenance at all, lasted me till 2007 when I gave it to my new owner, who kept it to use. Will be looking at another Ikea sofa set again for my new place. TV bench, used it since 1998 with my 29" CRT TV, than with my 32" LCD TV, warp a little, but new owner wants it, so gave it to them. Bed - the one bought in 1998 is now at my mum's place after hers bought from neighbourhood shop gave way. Is the cheapest solid wood queen bed frame during 1998, think 200+ only. I end up sleeping on it now (my sis bought her a hotel type king size bed) till my new house come, already have a 2 year old Ikea Hopan queen bed now dismantled an now is under this bed which I will move to my new house. Also got a Robin series single bed with underside bed, still very good and using till today, at least 2-3 years old liao. Chest of drawer - Got a 2 year old MALM 4-chest-drawer and 2-chest-drawer. The 4-chest drawer realise one of the drawer the bottle gave way. Have no time to see if it can be fixed, not totally gave way just warp so still using it. The drawer rail is every solid, one of the best. I bought one totally wooden 4 chest of drawers (no rail) one in 1998, every difficult to open and close but my mum kept it till today coz the wood still very solid. Got a Robin series 3 chest of drawer, still in good condition. Can't remember which year but should be at least 2-3 years liao. Wardrobe - Robin Series wardrobe, this one not very good as the bottom warp liao so can't close properly, but still using it. Think also at least 2-3 years. I suspect more. Got a few more Robin series items, multimedia shelf, book shelf, and one more tv console. All only about 2 years old. Still ok but need more time to tell. The Robin desk gave way though but this one is because of my installation problem, I accidentally crack it during installation but still lasted me 2 years before I finally throw it away. Many other things like lightings, accessories, tables, chairs, bowls, pots, etc...most I think are value for money and last me for quite some time. Overall, if you are looking at those really cheap stuff, than you also expect the quality is so so, the mid range items are very value for money and the expensive series, well, for those who can afford it. I usually go for the mid range stuff and some cheaper stuff. High end stuff out of my budget. Needless to say, will be going to Ikea more often now since I just gotten key to my new house. Cheers!
