Just went to tabao breakfast yesterday, always like the food there.

Depends on how hard core you are. If you are the occasional drinker than a small 15 bottles one will do. Think cost around $100+.

Wah...missed your blog...chop chop....hope to see more pix!

What I understand is all new install must conform, old one if the owner want to change the window must conform to new ruling, else can stay put. If don't conform and HDB found out (or when want to sell the house), must redo and conform to new ruling. You might want to check with your ID or with HDB before you do it. Just to play safe lah. Unless you don't mind taking the risk of needing to redo it next time.

Wah...gold mine area...heehee...

Got special door? I was actually thinking of the semi-circle thing, in the end that side is too small cannot put the semi-circle tray also. So got to live with it. Err...just wondering, window can use different color scheme meh? Here is what I got from HDB website. B)Windows at Parapet/Balcony (i) New Developments [new flats handed over from 1 Jul 07 onwards] For installation/replacement of windows at balcony/parapet, flat owners need to comply with the colour scheme, proportion and type [ie casement to casement, sliding to sliding] with that of the original windows provided by HDB, in addition to existing requirements. (ii) Existing Developments For installation/replacement of windows at balcony/parapet, an advisory note will be incorporated into the renovation permit to inform flat owners to comply with colour scheme and proportion with that of the original windows provided by HDB. For info at HDB website. Wonder does it means all windows because here is the reason for this regulation. "From 12 July 07, HDB will be introducing some control measures to ensure that the aesthetic appearance of the block/precinct will not be marred."

If got door, I think it will be more necessary as the door will have added weight to pull the bookshelves forward. We wanted to get doors, again the size is different now so no way to get it. So just have to clean more often (as if I really do) coz no doors means more dust. skywolf: a word of warning, as mentioned, the BILLY bookcase does not seems to be what it use to be. Read from IKEANFANS forum that the material use now seems to be not as good as previous (cost cutting to lower the price). But at $59 (4 days sales) for the 80cm, it's a steal anyway. I try to find out, coz all those I don't use discard liao. But one of them is from a forummer and another is from classified. Will try to let you know.
-
The extension won't fit mine. Coz mine is 3x 60cm and 1x 80cm. Now all the BILLY are 40cm and 80cm only. So cannot be 1 extend the rest don't. Never use the extension before so don't know how it is secured, but I do believe it will be secured well onto the shelves. To make sure they don't collapse, they come with something to secure to the wall, not to wall mount it. If you getting IKEA to install for you, they will probably also ask you if need to secure to the wall. Think is 1 hole only. You might want to check with them first when you are down at IKEA. I usually don't bother to secure it, hate to have holes drilled, so just to minimize to those necessary. Mine is Wellmax. I also cannot be sure they are good of not, but quite comfortable with the uncle so just go with them loh. I think someone else called they and feedback the price is so-so only leh. So I also don't know if they are cheap. But I got 3 quotes and they are the middle one and the uncle seems quite sincere compare to the other so just went with him. Don't know how to comment on workmanship since still new all looks good. Need time to tell if the workmanship is good.

Err...I only know the total, cannot really remember the breakdown. I did 2panel sliding window for the service balcony with grilles. Plus grilles for whole house windows, and wrought iron grilles for the balcony (no window). Total damage $1.7K. I think the balcony wrought iron grille is around $700, so $1K for the grilles plus windows (at service balcony). The window should be $300+ and the aluminum grilles $600+. I hope my (short) memory don't fail me. Hi skywolf, its not that it is not available, just they change the way they do the corner. Last time is special shape corner unit, now they use special bracket to make the 40cm width bookcase 'appear' to be a corner unit. The look will still be like a corner unit except the shelf in straight. I left it standing without fixing to the wall. When it is filled with books, it is not movable. BUT! If you get the BENNO CD tower you will realise they is this 'U' shape hook to secure it to the BILLY bookshelves. This hook is perfect to secure between bookshelves too. I have just enough to secure everything with the 'U' shape hook and so all the bookshelves are link together, so it is in my opinion, secured. I will try to post a pix here later to show you what I mean. 10years on, and after moving 3 time, the bookshelves are still going strong, guess I am blessed huh.

Yeah, should check out chong pang, for those not driving, can take 859 from our house downstair's bus-stop and it wills top at chong pang. Got lots of things there, and big wet market. Walk to 505 and back ah...wait all the food digested liao Hmm...u brought up a good point, how come Sun Plaza food court no malay food, considering the fact that Sembawang has quite a big Malay community. The 334A coffee shop malay food also close liao. I like to eat malay food actually, heehee...heard from my wife there is a malay snack/food shop open at somewhere near the MRT, cannot remember exactly where.
-
Someone did mentioned that certain months of the year due to the direction of the wind, the dust from the sembawang shipyard will blow over. When I was choosing house one of the upstairs neighbour who saw us looking around the area invited us to their house to take a look, and he too told us about this problem that his neighbour facing the school got the same problem too but he doesn't (he is facing inside).

Moving with existing furniture is a HUGE job! But it also means lots of savings coz no need to buy so many new ones. Haha... No...on budget, so no false ceiling, all REAL ceiling for the whole house. The fans really come in handy, and now wondering should I have done it for kitchen, the kitchen is so hot! Maybe its the weather now. The stainless steel/glass backing is more for a nicer look I guess, tiles are actually already quite easy to clean (except the lines) but the glass and stainless steel make it even easier to clean and look nice too. FULL MARKS for sharp eye applefreak. Heehee...it's my 10years old billy bookcase. All except 1 in sizes no longer available today. Plus 3 Benno CD Tower. The BILLY bookcase on sale!!! But warning...heard the quality not as good as 10 years ago as they try to bring the prices down. Read it from IKEAFANS forum. Also, corner unit for BILLY no longer available, what they use now is a special bracket to fit the 40cm width bookcase as a corner unit. More IKEA items coming tomorrow...heehee...and thinking of changing my masterbedroom vanity top. The HDB one cannot make it, change one liao less than 1 month the color run again. Looking at the VATTERN series from ikea, but not decided.

My bad....I thought I saw $30 written somewhere. You are facing where? Facing Admiralty Drive or the basketball court? If facing the road I understand it will be dusty, if facing the basketball court not so bad.

The movers that came that day said the same thing. Hahaha...a 20ft truck suppose to come but was help up, and it could not fit into the 16ft (or was it 15ft) truck. Needed 2 trips! But after the 1st trip the 20ft truck arrived and pick up the rest of the stuff and came over. And they is only the beginning, the unpacking is crazy.
-
Thanks...so lazy to go hunting after moving in and still doing all the unpacking...haha...need to really pull myself up to go and find. I understand both are very good stainless steel material but the 18/10 will be more resistant to corrosive compare to 18/8. But normal home usage both should be fine.

The mini-mart is cramp like anything, but sells quite a bit of things coz they really fully utilise the place. The price are quite good too so a lot of people shop there. Only 1 counter accept nets for $30 and above purchase, else is cash. The price use to be even better but went up a bit, but many items still cheaper than elsewhere. Not a bad place (except the cramp-ness). The coffee shop at blk 334A sells mixed veg rice, zhi cha, western, fried kwey tiao, fishball noodles, chicken/char siew rice, prawn noodles and indian food. Plus bao and chee cheong fan at the drinks stall area. Hope I covered all. Haha...food wise so so lah, and the malay stall close down liao, that one actually quite nice leh. The wet market when my mum went (she stayed at my sis place in sembawang during her confinement), she gave up and take bus to chong pang wet market or her place downstairs wet market instead. Say small and lousy, which explain why NTUC at Sun Plaza always super long queue! Think people might as well buy from NTUC than to make their way to the corner of Sembawang. But a bit far from our place right, heard the one at 406 also not bad. The 505 western food also sells nasi lemak (western style!) and wu xiang. Strange but logical combination since a lot of fried stuff. Haha...

I just remember I forgot to buy mine! No wonder my contractor never fix for me. Does Poh Joo (I presume is this) have lots of different sizes for the basket? I haven't measure mine yet. Where exactly is the place? Any other places I can go and source?

I'm in 359A, moved in 3 weeks ago! Or is it 4 weeks?
