  1. mine is a 5 rm flat.. did one kitchen n common toilet. cost abt 13k, excl plumbing. the overall price of ur quote feels alright.
  2. Hi, can i know how much was the damage? Could you pm the contact as well? tks!
  3. didnt know a wall mount bracket is so ex. i have been thinking of getting something like this too, but its way too exxxx...almost half the cost of my tv. hmmm...
  4. well.. mayb myself to blame, since his rate is a little cheaper than the rest for carpentry. sigh. lesson learnt. just take it i guess, and mayb try to bargain down... since there's still some balance that i have not paid.
  5. Hi Sumbarajam, if u decide to go with univonna, if u can, try to go for full leather rather than half leather. I think the diff is only a few hundreds. I went for the half leather... and only the seats (front part) were full leather. the arm rest was pu leather... not so shiok. and u can tell the diff if you are standing near............
  6. thats true. haha. only the problem is we r diy-ing our electricity part. so no electrician. i guess we have to continue thinking. hi wuga98, my lamp is from lush. mine is the big standing version.. they have a table lamp version, and as chandelier too, which shld be the one u saw in magazine.
  7. Hi, I have a standing lamp which i would want to convert to chandelier. Any idea where can i get the wires etc to hang it? I have some ppics below. Any suggestions on how to convert into a chandelier?? Thanks! Here's the lamp. The look of the base. Close-up. Thinking of using wires to hook from here, but not exactly sure how to do it.
  8. bunbun, so all of u had plywood????????????/ why like that????????? sigh. very sad. i also dunno how, cos cannot really take the delay anymore. actually i wouldnt have realise... my dad's the guru. told me the sound is funny.............
  9. hey mafiawife, yeah.. thats the night mkt.. really not that cheap, but lotsa interesting stuff. if u find any nice stuff from phuket, must share!! sigh.. the contractor already confirmed that its not plywood. i forgot what its called, and according to my dad, its b grade wood. but also dunno waht i can do about it. contractor claimed that everyone uses this type of wood. upset! actually my solid top is not up yet. hehe. cos we r living there already, and too much barang, so cant wait to lay out stuff, even the solid top has not been laid yet.
  10. More updates.. the bathroom is finally done, and the carpentry's halfway done. Does anyone realise something's looking not quite right in the bathroom??? *drumroll* The golden frame mirror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Courtesy of my dad, who thought it would match with the bifold door for the bathroom. *faint* The thing is......... the bifold door is in silver, not gold, as my dad had thought. sigh........ dunno whether to laugh or cry at my dad's "fashion" sense..!! now i have to find another spot for the mirror. Carpentry done so far... looking decent, then i realise that the laminate is not the way i wanted. I had wanted the lines to be horizontal, not vertical. was a little shocked to see it vertical. After checking with the contractor, it seems that i had chosen vertical ones, rather than horizontal (not sure whose fault), and the laminate looks rather different from what i had in mind. (laminate looks v old fashion to me.. me and my "good" taste!!! grrr.. ) to redo wld take a very long time, which is something i dont have. I had no choice, but to use the existing laminate, but redo in the horizontal way, which would mean alot of wastage (and extra cost....... ). Sigh, so angry with myself! Just wondering, what is the wood material used for kitchen cabinets? We thought it would be plywood.. bbut according to the contractor, plywood is only used for thickness less than 15mm... and kitchen cabinets do not use plywood. Is that true??? Haiya, my dad's complaining, but we can only take waht the contractor says, since we have no idea...
  11. tiling is done... finally!!! here's some pics. pardon the bad angle though... bad photographer. hehe. concrete support for sink. abit old fashion, but i think it really goes a long way, esp after how i see the previous shelving crumpled after the sink started leaking. will be building wooden cabinets over it though. still quite dirty and messy. can't wait for everything to be cleared!!! tried to buy some switches n socket today as well... and choo chiang was all closed. due to scheduling of renovation, had to get some switches today. went to a shop next to kong kwang (?) at kelatan lane. the 1gang white colored MK switches cost 3.5, 2 gang 7 (i think) n 3 gang cost 9sgd, and heater switch at 11sgd. is that a reasonable cost?????? dont wanna be robert.
  12. Hi Okxygene, thanks! I went chatuchak (Soi 24 and Soi 7, i think) and MBK. You can try Suan Lum too, though heard its closing end of Apr. Good luck to your trip! There's lotsa cheap and nice stuff there. Went shopping for bathroom wares today. Realised that Genova was having a sale (ends tomorrow), they are having storewide 20% off and more discounts on some other stuff. Here's what i bought.. basin, finally! basin tap mixer Bought the above plus a kitchen mixer and some bathroom accessories for <300. Very happy with my purchases today.
  13. Hi Zila, ur place is really nice!!!! how much did u pay for ur chandelier? Really adds on to the overall mood of the place. Ur wardrobe is custom made, i suppose? And wallpaper... All so nice!
  14. Hi Shix2_82, i love ur vogue pink wall. What brand of paint and color shade is that?
  15. Here's a floor plan which i drew up. The proportion's a little off though. The flat is quite old already, ard 16yrs. And the layout is quite sucky in a sense, cos there are alot of pillars which makes laying furniture a challenge. The thing that gets me most is the common toilet. I must have one of the worse toilet layout, cos the shower area is right smacked at where the door is. Explored all possible ways, but there is no practical way the shower area can be separated (not even a kerb). Can only drool at everyone's shower screen. So far, have not really bought much stuff, except the sink and the hood (both from SSC). Having quite a bit of headache searching for the bathroom basin, and also can't make up my mind too. Was quite set on getting a square/rectangular basin, until my dad pointed out, "Dont you think it looks like public toilets?" Since then, all square/rectangular basin that i see just reminds me of those in public toilets. And i think my dad has a point........... Just have to find a un-public toilet looking one. Melting_starz, my dad continued to stay in the house during the renovation. I am actually staying at my rented place, and will be moving back when reno is done. Hacking's not that bad, since only a day or two. It really makes the place messy and dirty though, as I was home few days ago, and I can't find anywhere to sit in the living room! Wonder how my dad can take it. The renovation should be quite fast though (within a month max). My reno started last Thurs, and the laying is already almost done (and there was 2 days delay due to wrong tiles). Maybe your mum can take a 2 week holiday, and endure with the reno for 1 week?
