  1. no prob at all to travel via train with big luggage.. only need to have the strength to carry the luggage up any stairs in train stations that do not have any escalator or elevator. 1st thing to look out for is location of any possible escalator or elevator. If dun have...no choice...take the stairs... so maybe you can consider two mid sizes luggages to share the weight among you two...easier on movement and storage too.
  2. i bought a handheld vacumn cleaner to jus only vacumn my fabric sofa and bed. i do it once a month. i make sure my fabric sofa cover is removable before i bought it. i wash it in the washing machine once a year.

  7. the light guy came to install my MBR ceiling light. simple PLL surrounded by halogen and led. Option to ON any one of them, any combination of 2 or all of them. I merely on it for 20mins, guess what, 1 PLL gone, half of halogen gone too. Lady boss from lighting shop says maybe i din on aircon, and the light is too hot. They will review whether to change the light to another model (means i got to go to the shop to choose) or repair the lights again. sigh...
  8. life time warranty, means as long as the company is still alive and around.
  9. i do agree that highest floor has a higher ceiling. Not sure about others, mine is a 20 years old and i stayed on the highest floor, my ceiling is indeed higher or look higher at least.
  10. i have similar kitchen layout as you. after living for coming to 7 years, and going to revamp the kitchen, i am now better to know what i want and how i place the appliances, stove and basin. I cook regularly and hang my clothes inside too when raining or at work. my dining table is also in the kitchen. I know nuts about FS and only can share with u the practicality part of actually using the kitchen. Triangle formation for fridge, stove and fridge is indeed important. Do not put the stove next to window, your window grill and window panel or the ledge will be super dirty and oily over time. And when the wind blows in from the window especially when u are cooking, before the hood can suck in the smoke and smell, the wind already blow it into the whole house unless u close the kitchen door. U might think u will close the window panel, then u will know how dirty the panel will be. And not forgetting the wind will blow off the fire, unless u use induction cooker. Your stove should be on the other side of the basin. You can also keep an eye on kids or guest in the living room while cooking. Stove nearer (cooking and ganchiong part) to fridge is better than sink nearer to fridge (preparation part) Basin next to window is good cos the breese helps to dry the plates..haha... As i am right handed, it is easy with stove on my left and basin on my right. Cos i can easily dump dirty utensil and cockery (used during the cooking process) straight into the basin await for mass washing. My fridge face the kitchen door, cos it is convenient for guest or family member to get drinks or snack.
  11. cost about $9k Excluding cost of all fittings & accessories such as heater, toilet bowls and basin and shower mixer, tap mixer, shower head, toilet rank stuff. I bought from royal franco at jalan besar and have it delivered prior to the reno. My contractor did not bring me to any place to buy. reliable....hmmm to the extend i actually went away for a 12 days holiday and leave my house to them to do it. I did not wan to come back daily to a super super dusty house. It is not a new house but one that i already staying in. mine is overlay. Original is HDB tiles with no leakage or seepage. So i think overlay is safe, make it double safer by adding waterproofing. i choose not to be around to supervise so i leave it to luck. Hehe, so far...no complain (touch wood) of water leakage. of course there are little imperfections here and there which bound to happen. Workmanship of the tiler is good lah..my gouting really slim. overall 4 out of 5 ba. i merely bought it and get contractor to instal..No recommendation. I jus normal stuff...so dun need special instruction. prior to reno and my flight to a 12 days trip...i already brief my contractor when the shower head should be. I dun have much choice where to place the basin or toilet bowl..

After confirm they bring the wrong 1, one of the technician drove all the way back to warehouse to bring the CLASS 0. heng ah..i check. yes, they drill and drill and all rooms in the house get so dirty, we are prepared for it, bought plastic sheet to cover and cover....they only instal, they dun sweep or clean

Mine is old house, no aircon ledge, the compressor too heavy..they dented abit. Ask senior technician to come..dunno who lah..says no harm done at all. Till now..it is ok..water flowing is very good...but i only use it once a week...the most 3 times a week. Mine sys 3...but i only use 1... not sure if i should at time on ALL aircon to test out the compressor and the water pipping...

  18. hi everyone, an update on my lights. In mid may, I dismantle the ceiling light (high chair and ladder) and took it back to the shop. Luckily the technician was there, after changing all transformers, all balasts, all halogen light bulbs, with few sparkers at times, still the light is not working. The shop will took it back to their supplier to analyse further and will be ready next week. Hope it will be ok...a bit dark in the bedroom since without lights. hehe
  19. i guess you already have all the piping done...u jus wanna change the mixer...right? the mixer can be 'fix' on the toilet wall using a 'cap'....i got a pic i took for my shower mixer..you can pm me your email address and i could share it with u. The cap cost about $10 to $15 at normaly poh joo or royal franco shop.
  20. looks bad, mine 3-seaters fake leather from HDB shop can last more than 5 years before the tears appear. i am saying from my past experience of mine and mil's fake leather sofa is got to clean and moisturise regularly to prevent cracking which is due to stretching when we sit or kid jumping on it. lines appear when a person keep sitting on the same place which result in stretching of the material..creating a sunken effect.
  21. At furniture mall, beach road, behind the hotel that has the Sichuan Dou Foo restaurant. At the 1st floor, there is a shop that sells chair only. Dinning chair, office chair, single arm chair, stool, bar chair...all types. The lady said they supply to restaurants and fast food joints. SHe even give a catalogue booklet too. Jus happen to notice the shop when shopping around there. not yet buy anything from the shop, thou aiming for a nice single arm chair type for dressing table...yeah..abit dramatic...hehe
  22. i also did two toilets a) overlay floor and wall tiles b) change toilet bowls, basins, toilet doors, toilet windows c) install heater, d) change to stainless pipping, e) kerb at masterbed room toilet f) paint ceiling and the fat fat pipe mine is a almost 20years old flat. it cost about $9k excluding all fittings, accessories such as heaters, toilet bowls and basin and shower stuff. you may pm me for pics if u wan. i dun wan to leave the contact here lah...or else might be mistaken for reno sales person...
  23. hi everyone..love that lollipop pink so much that i too have painted my whole masterbed room with that color. MOre convince i made the correct choice when i came here and saw Shix painted the same color too. IT IS A VERY NICE COLOR. As the wall would be of a darker tone as compare to white, the lighting effect is more visible. not sure how to post pic. those need to see the effect on the whole room can pm me. this color goes very well with silver, purple and looks modern.
  24. so angry, bought lights from a shop at balestier. On the day of installation, one of the 3 PLL already flicked too long before the light came on...about 5 days later...it died. Swop around those working works. yep, confirm it died so i buy a new and branded one. So i though, quality of PLL given is no good. 5 days later, half of the halogen bulbs not working, did not light up. Tony from Edison Lighting is kind enough to give new branded light bulbs. Went back home to change, the area that did not light up still did not light up, swop around with other lighted up area to check if bulb problem or light prob. Confirm light prob. Call back again, a older guy (not Tony), after consulting his supplier, suggest transformer problem, told me to buy one small transformer from his shop. Or i could dismantle the lights so that he could give to his supplier to check, something like a warranty. i barely install it for 3 weeks. But his attitude and service is terrible. Sounding like a know-it-all, you-din-pay-me-to-install, i-am-experienced-dun-ketok-me kind of tone & it is totally-not-my-fault. I know they cant change it the whole light for me, but at least a nice tone to convince me that it could be manufacturer fault and no choice i got to buy transformer. The light is less than one month already faced with prob, why cant admit the quality is bad. When some things are spoilt, they are quick to ask owner to change this, buy that. Cant they just come and take a look as a service. Since the spare parts is readily available everywhere since all sell the same thing, i dun see any need to buy the parts from them at all. Or i could just leave the spoilt lights alone as an advert to guests coming to my house.
