  1. Hello @Ankle, Beautiful paintings! I was pondering on the idea of getting a painting or decal to decorate my storeroom door. But I can't paint pictures myself, can only buy print or pics or get decals?
  2. Hello! @JOYWALKER I like storage boxes from IKEA too, will buy boxes from there as well. I am still waiting for my ID to handover to me by end Nov, I shall wait till 12.12 to go on shopping spree??
  3. Hello! @JOYWALKER I guess you are a cat lover. You got such a cute kitty peeping at your kitchen entrance and more cats around your home? I too intend to get metal shelves from IKEA . But I have my eyes on another model. I would like to know , did you assemble the shelves yourself, or you get IKEA to assemble?
  4. Hello, everyone! ? Recently, I got my floor grout lines shielded. Yes, I have chosen floor tiles vs the now popular vinyl flooring. I prefer tiles but the main headache is that the grout lines will turn dirty in time and that is very unsightly. The first pic is the condition of my parents' floor tiles. Second pic is my newly grout shielded floor. Many years back, I bought detergent for cleaning grout and spent a whole afternoon cleaning my parents' living room. Cannot finish the room and it was real HARD work. Almost broke my back??. Result was splendid but it got dirty within a year and so effort wasted! I am not going to personally grout clean again, not for my own unit either. Frankly speaking, I got no friends or relatives who has done grout shielding. Don't know how effective. But something very certain if I do not shield the grout lines it will definitely turn like the first pic very soon. So I decided to go ahead with the shielding. Suppose to last 5 to 10 years or beyond if you take care not to clean and scrub your floor with harsh and acidic detergent.
  5. Hello, @BunniBoi You mean you have moved in? Congrats! ? You have a very nice view from your living room window. I am still at the Carpentry stage.
  6. Hello @mmoh! How I wish i could post pics but Hiakz.... Don't know when my renovation can resume?? The sliding system is specially for such transformable dining table, so it has proper weight load and overall design to serve its purpose, but kind of pricey, I do hope it is a worthwhile expense.
  7. ? I will be having a hidden/pull out dining table in my living room. Another such table in my kitchen for extra worktop when needed.
  8. Hello @Magenta, Your living room would be enviously spacious (for a 2 room) if the bomb shelter do not get in the way in such a manner. Maybe you can consider space-saving transformable furniture at the area between bomb shelter wall and living room wall. Such as hidden/pull out table, bench or bed within built in wall shelves/cabinets.
  9. Hello @Humhum, I am not redoing bathroom and kitchen. But my idea is to make use of the complimentary tiles as much as possible. Using them to tile curbs/bases and concrete corner wall shelves. And then keep the remaining for just in case.
  10. Hello! @Humhum, I do need the complimentary tiles, may have some left after my flooring is done but I can't be sure since my floor tiling is half done and then got to stop work due to the circuit breaker.
  11. Hello! Neighbours! I think there is a "handful" of Eastcreek neighbours here ?
  12. Hi @BunniBoi, Tiles already picked BUT just been notified that no stock. Choose another, again no stock because its from Italy...... Not rushing indeed because staying with parents, not that I need to hand over my current flat to new owner. Whatever pops up due to covid-19, I have to take a deep breath and then move on to deal with the issue, take an alternative route to resolve. Affects everyone... Press on... and wish all will be fine for everyone. Like mmoh mentions 'patiently', Patience and keep one's cool ?
  13. Hello @BunniBoi, still doing paperwork for reno. I have to do flooring first, so other works got to wait. Previously was hoping to finish reno late April, but I don't think so now.
  14. Hi, @BunniBoi, you are making much progress, I bet you will finish reno before me with or without covid-19. Well, i am mentally prepared for delay too although my ID did not mention anything.
  15. Hi @Xiaoyang, Repositioning the rack like this, does make the kitchen look slightly spacious. I was contemplating this position, now I can be sure I'll do that too.
  16. Hello to all! Finally took measurements with a proper measuring tape. @snoozeewas right, the 4750mm wall on floor plan turn out to be very near 4600mm. So relieved that I don't have to adjust "drastically" the measurements of my planned cabinets to fit the actual space.
  17. Hello @BunniBoi! Ah, so you got your wish to collect in Feb after all, Congratulations! Although I got my keys last Dec, I am only going to start renovations next week ?. Probably your reno schedule will be very much in line with mine. Your living room is about the same size as mine, but the photo looks like your living room is very spacious, maybe yours is already tiled, mine not yet.
  18. Hello @TerryS! Before hdb inform you for key collection (about 2 months before) hdb will email you informing you to update particulars, excerpt from the hdb email as below: "Prior to keys collection, you will need to update your particulars, such as marital status, family composition, citizenship, income and property ownership, via My HDBPage. You can login anytime from your home PC using your SingPass and complete the "Submission of Further Particulars" within 10 days of this email. " Well, I missed out the email and exceeded the 10 days time frame, I emailed hdb for advice and they emailed me pdf form instead, but the the pdf form did not require update of income, I don't know how it's like if you update via hdb portal since I missed it. ?
  19. Hello neighbour @Xiaoyang! Hmm, also hoping to find ways to dispose/trade the rack for good returns ?. The electronic rack I intend to purchase does provide trade in for $20. I shall see how, maybe I'll check with my ID to see if he has "lobang" ?
  20. Hello @mmoh! I never thought that the sample layout idea provided by hdb is important, now I know ?? Oh, the rack can fetch $100+, mmm now I have an idea how much the rack can worth.
  21. Hello @Xiaoyang! I am at Eastcreek too. I also felt that the laundry rack is very big for the kitchen and the position is inconvenient. Interestingly I am also considering to position the rack parallel to the window. But the hdb laundry rack may be too long for parallel position, I intend to remove it and install a smaller sized electronic laundry rack parallel to window.
  22. Hello @Xiaoyang! Being curious where is your new home located, type 1 or 2? Actually, I face the same problem. I had planned to place sink and stove on the same side, washing machine (WM) on the opposite but for my case the drainage for sink and WM are all on the right side of the kitchen. After checking with my ID, although drainage piping can be routed to the other side but it will be ugly and troublesome. So I forgo my previous plan, now my sink and WM will be on the same side while stove will have to be on the opposite. Airing my thoughts about squarish kitchen. Most of the earlier layouts have rectangular kitchen allowing only one row of cabinets. One can kind of guess where the drainage pipes for sink and WM will be located. For squarish kitchen, there are 2 rows of cabinets, you won't know which side will hdb designate the drainage pipes. Now that I look back, I think the Sample Layout Ideas in hdb sales brochure gives a good hint where the drainage pipes for sink and WM are located. Otherwise, the flat interior photos released during hdb roadshow for your new home will give a concrete answer as to where are the drainage pipes. I saw the roadshow pics from HDB website dedicated for roadshows and noticed the positioning but I just brush aside without giving much thoughts until I went to my unit, and then I realise the designated positioning of drainage pipes by hdb will jeopardise my kitchen layout plan! ?? Like what Ryanyth mentioned changes are common, thus got to learn to keep an open mind when dealing with home planning and renovation?
  23. Hello @mmoh! I actually engaged the service of Defect Inspector, and the first thing the Inspector did when he saw that I was annoyed by the auto closing door, was to take a pile of complimentary tiles from my bomb shelter, and tucked it between the door and frame. It did hold the door stationary at a certain angle.
