  1. Hello neighbour @Xiaoyang! Hmm, also hoping to find ways to dispose/trade the rack for good returns ?. The electronic rack I intend to purchase does provide trade in for $20. I shall see how, maybe I'll check with my ID to see if he has "lobang" ?
  2. Hello @mmoh! I never thought that the sample layout idea provided by hdb is important, now I know ?? Oh, the rack can fetch $100+, mmm now I have an idea how much the rack can worth.
  3. Hello @Xiaoyang! I am at Eastcreek too. I also felt that the laundry rack is very big for the kitchen and the position is inconvenient. Interestingly I am also considering to position the rack parallel to the window. But the hdb laundry rack may be too long for parallel position, I intend to remove it and install a smaller sized electronic laundry rack parallel to window.
  4. Hello @Xiaoyang! Being curious where is your new home located, type 1 or 2? Actually, I face the same problem. I had planned to place sink and stove on the same side, washing machine (WM) on the opposite but for my case the drainage for sink and WM are all on the right side of the kitchen. After checking with my ID, although drainage piping can be routed to the other side but it will be ugly and troublesome. So I forgo my previous plan, now my sink and WM will be on the same side while stove will have to be on the opposite. Airing my thoughts about squarish kitchen. Most of the earlier layouts have rectangular kitchen allowing only one row of cabinets. One can kind of guess where the drainage pipes for sink and WM will be located. For squarish kitchen, there are 2 rows of cabinets, you won't know which side will hdb designate the drainage pipes. Now that I look back, I think the Sample Layout Ideas in hdb sales brochure gives a good hint where the drainage pipes for sink and WM are located. Otherwise, the flat interior photos released during hdb roadshow for your new home will give a concrete answer as to where are the drainage pipes. I saw the roadshow pics from HDB website dedicated for roadshows and noticed the positioning but I just brush aside without giving much thoughts until I went to my unit, and then I realise the designated positioning of drainage pipes by hdb will jeopardise my kitchen layout plan! ?? Like what Ryanyth mentioned changes are common, thus got to learn to keep an open mind when dealing with home planning and renovation?
  5. Hello @mmoh! I actually engaged the service of Defect Inspector, and the first thing the Inspector did when he saw that I was annoyed by the auto closing door, was to take a pile of complimentary tiles from my bomb shelter, and tucked it between the door and frame. It did hold the door stationary at a certain angle.
  6. Hello @SuperZ! I hope I am not raising false alarm here??! I was initially rather upset at the measurements but after a few days of "calming" down I felt I might have been too uptight over the matter, afterall I did not use a proper measuring tape!! ?? I will take measurements properly with correct tools and post my results here. But it will be some weeks later till I pop over to my new home. Happy Holidays to all! ??
  7. Hello @snoozee! Indeed I was initially expecting to lose about 15 to 25cm, even went up to 30cm. Nevertheless, I will definitely measure with proper measuring tape.
  8. Thanks @BunniBoi, I'll look out for its bundle pricing and make a purchase. ?Indeed I was really hoping I had a door stopper when I was at my new home for the first time but later it came across to me that a door stopper will come into use provided you have opted for HDB to do your flooring. For my case I opted out so the floor is bare and the floor level is lower than usual thus a usual door stopper is not thick enough. If you opted for hdb flooring, a door stopper will come in handy☺️
  9. Hello, @ryanyth! I did not know there is such door stopper mechanism till I read your blog. Would have chosen the magnet, but magnet will turn rusty after some years (that's the case for my current home) and for usual rubber door stopper, I foresee asking myself "where is that door stopper ?!" when I need it ??. So a door stopping mechanism installed above the door shall be best choice?
  10. Hello @BunniBoi! Noticed you bought Yale digital lock from lazada. If I'm not wrong they will only deliver on the date of installation. So how did you make your purchase? I am also interested in getting yale digital locks for my new home.
  11. Hello @ryanyth! I was following your blog 2 years ago and now I re-visit your blog to refresh my memory as I prepare for renovation. Thanks for sharing your experience! One thing I wanted to point out is I finally understood why there is a need to install the SlideArm. When I read your blog I thought I do not need that as I do not like to leave my main door open. Yesterday I went to open my bto door and I had ENOUGH of that soft closing door! I did not prepare a door stopper and it was such a fuss going through the door with it always moving towards shutting. Immediately I remembered reading in your blog that you have installed something above the door as a door stopper and I made up my mind to install that too!
  12. Hello to all! I had collected my keys few days back and I went to open the door yesterday. On the whole I am happy with my new home but was disappointed at the measurements of the the rooms. I know the measurements on the floor plan cannot be taken as it is because we need to take into account the thickness of the walls, but I have underestimated the wall thickness. For example a wall in my living room shows 4750mm on the floor plan, I guessed the wall would be around 4500mm but it turn out to be about 4000mm. I just used my feet to measure, so it was an approximate measurement but it was obvious it is definitely no where near 4500 and definitely not 4750 as in the floor plan. EDIT(Mar 2020) : Finally took measurements with proper measuring tape, turns out to be satisfactory because physical measurement is near 4600mm (on floor plan it is 4750mm).
  13. Congratulations ?! This email notification is like Christmas present to you. I suppose you shall receive keys in the first week of March. My PCD was end Nov, and I was allocated to collect keys on 2 Dec. But I delayed 2 weeks and had just collected in the past week and opened the door yesterday. However when I went to collect keys, the lady ask me to fill the update particulars again, I wondered why but did not question and fill in again lor?
  14. Hello! I was deciding between induction and traditional stove as well but decided on old school stove. I was thinking of trying out 1 or 2 of my mum's recipes for kueh kueh (if I ever really try making?) I was afraid induction cannot do steaming for long hours.... Also never used induction cooker no idea how it's like so I stick to old type. I guess depend on what and how often you cook?
  15. Thank you @evozero! I tried applying online but there was some error, can't get it done online. just wondering what documents do you need besides IC when register SP account via online. Can't register online then I just have to queue at SP counter on day of key collection ☺️Cross my fingers Q won't be too long.
  16. Hello to all! I'll like to ask about SP utilities. I read that nowadays new bto has their utilities pre-turned on so turn-on appointment with SP technician not needed. But also read from another article that even though new bto has utilities pre-turned on, you still need an appointment with SP technician to check something else. A bit blur here, so need appointment with SP technician or no need at all
  17. @BunniBoiGood Morning! Actually I did ballot for NorthShore but failed to get a q number. Do you get a view of the sea from your unit?
  18. @JhongHello! Not spreading superstitions here, just that someone asked and I am in similar situation so I shall share. My initial intention is to officially start renovation right after the LNY holidays, somewhere early Feb. But my mum made consultation and she was told no starting of renovation during first fifteen days of LNY. So no choice I gotta follow the advice and can only start officially after 15th day, that will be mid Feb.
  19. Hello @BunniBoi! I can understand your current feeling. The "agony" of anticipation, logging in regularly hoping to see fresh update of estimated completion date and nothing changes ?? HDB wants your latest update on marital status and ownership of private property, bought or inherited... I really don't know whether hdb will mass send out notifications for particulars update to all owners of the same building project or hdb send out in batches in line with individual key collection date. Nevertheless the Particulars thingy will come before key collection date. HDB only send out email notification for Particulars update but send email AND sms notification for key collection. So if you did give your email address to hdb for contact, you will have to keep an eye on your email inbox. For my case, it was stated Q4 2019. So since September I logged in regularly hoping to see new update. Oct received notification to update particulars, and FINALLY new update stating End of November 2019. Coincidentally, my mum has a friend whose son got an unit in the same area as me and he got his keys in Oct! While in Oct my latest hdb update is end November. So my guess is the estimated date is targeted at the whole building project initially but towards key collection, the update on myhdb page will depend on individual block. Actually l think you can guess whether you will be the earlier batch or later batch in the Quarter by looking at the building progress photos hdb upload to your myhdb page, provided you have been following the photos. For me, the photos showed that while the other blocks in my area are already few storeys high, mine just started foundation. So no wonder others got their unit and started renovation and I was just about to collect keys. Tentatively, no intention to hack anything. Unless upon seeing the actual unit and I felt hacking is necessary. OK, paiseh, above is very long post ?
  20. Hello! I have been notified to collect my keys this month(Canberra) but I haven't the determination and "courage" to set on my choices and buy items during this year end sales period. The only item I got during Black Friday is a bathroom fitting which I had eyed for a long time and the discount was good. You must have a good space at your current home to stock up? My mum will "kill" me if I take up her precious storeroom space? Just sharing my sequence of hdb notifications leading up to key collection for your reference. Oct 2019 - received notification to update Further Particulars on MyHdb Page. Dec 2019 - received notification to collect keys (hdb will only notify you one week prior to key collection date) Thus have you been notified to update your Particulars? That will give a bit of hint when you will be collecting keys.
  21. @mytinybtoHello! My new flat did not complete ahead of time but right on the dot. From the very start hdb state my new flat will be expected to complete in Q4 2019. And indeed I was notified to collect keys in December. But I did hear of projects completing ahead. And I was initially hopeful that I can collect keys in June/July but that never happened?
  22. @daztan89Hello, neighbour! I think mine is the last block for building completion and key release. Finished reno means you can move in before LNY, Congrats! I will only start to reno after LNY, no point rushing now. Getting my keys this month.
  23. Hi, to all, Here's my floor plan. I do like the squarish kitchen. But I am not accustomed to having the bathroom door in the living room. @evozero: I tried balloting for eastlink but obviously I didn't get it, eastlink so much nearer to the canberra mrt, unlike eastcreek at a far flung corner, but I'm still glad to get an unit just that I need to travel a bit more to the mrt station?
  24. Hello to all members here! I have been following this forum for 2 years. This is my very first post. Expecting my keys this Dec/Jan. Location: Eastcreek@Canberra Type 2, 47sqm @studioflatter: Really sorry to hear your horrifying reno experience. Hopefully, everything unpleasant will be over and done with and you can settle down nicely in your new home. @CaseBlue: I plan to put up insect screen too. Could you share your experience in sourcing for the suitable service provider for insect screen? Thanks in advance!
