  1. I'm staying at top floor and facing a garden. Good thing about it is windy and the view is good. One a while got funny looking insect visiting but no big deal cos don't look harmful to me. I think u will face insects problem from the reservoir, again to me no big deal.
  2. Same tots..... better pay to have peace of mind.
  3. bepgof all the best to your long expired further studies. Better late than never having the heart to get what u wanted. I had similar situation like u had faced before. Graduated 1998, can't do Master even tot my FY supervisor had something planned for me, house came needed $$, 2000 collect house key, same year got married, 2002 first child. After which all attention on family and work, work and work.....
  4. Nothing compare to yours lah....... Stock: a) many years back i had Singtel stock, the one offer by gov, waited for all the bonus payout before selling at $3 plus. b) 2005 went to do fix deposit, end up bought posb up side(20k), kind of regretted. Still there, about 5% to go. Capital guaranty. c) extended from b) use CPF special account to invest 10k, some unit trusts, surprisingly doing ok. A couple of insurances. Consider investment? One maturing next year(20 years), about 4.5% return per year. Another 3 got 10 more years to maturity. Got 3 kids, 9, 5, 2. Got a roof over my head, HDB nia. If really want to invest, will look at blue chips like some recommended. Buy DBS lower risk but returns not high. Also i low risk taker. Oh... another thing super important, i failed accounting, finance as free electives during my uni days...
  5. Thanks for the advice. Mine is a bank loan, at 1.28% this year. I used 65% of my monthly contribution in OA to finance HDB loan and have more than 2 years of excess in case for raining days. Not planning to do any investment that's why people like me only can lead simple life. So my only option is to save on housing interests and work towards clearing the loan soonest possible, plan to clear it in 3 years time with lump sum payment. Besides, my AHWL is still within limit. Probably will consider investment once I cleared my housing loan, fund manager a good idea?
  6. Humm,...... I'm not good with figures.... neither am i good with investment. About financing loan, my view is to repay as soon as possible since I'm not using OA to invest, isn't the sooner u repay the less interest u pay? Which mean u save on interest, say 30 year loan u repay in 15 year time, save 15 year interest, the next 15 years for u to accumulate $$ in OA for retirement. Tio bo?
  7. I remembered applying to HDB the day after i exercised the OTP, I paid 5k straight cause pretty sure am getting the flat. Then next, with the valuation report + OTP apply for bank loan. The bank loan paper clearly stated that if i am to cancel, there will be a % of penalty on the principal amount. That was my time in 2008. Don't know how it works now, better double confirmed on the bank loan part.
  8. Can't really advice much. You are at the mercy of HDB. MP can help? Do u have a agent to represent u? Can u fault your agent? Have you sign the bank paper? Hope u did not sign it, at most lost the 5k OTP fee and pray that your seller will not sue u for any losses. Good luck.
  9. Married for 12 years can definitely ask a certain % of what he owns. Talk to your lawyer, lawyer will advice accordingly. I say ask for 50% of what he has. U have kids? Can ask for maintenance for the kids.
  10. If u can prove u indeed contribute to the loan, get your lawyer to ask for 50%. This is definitely court case.
  11. This is not allowed, u can have home office but not causing any disturbance to neighbor. This must stop. Write to HDB, they will investigate.
  12. To me it is very expensive. How many IDs/Contractors have you shortlisted and asked for quotation? U sure can compare them.
  13. Just sharing what my FS told me when he audit my house. What's your husband kua number? The placing of certain things in the house is closely related to your husband kua number and will affect your 1) wealth 2) health 3) harmony in the house 4) career 5) study So better do some studies if u wish to DIY.
  14. Hi Bro, Like many suggest, 1) Either legal approach on the seller to make good all illegal modification, pay for your loses OR 2) Ask yourself this question, are u going to over haul the whole place? Especially on the illegal modification, if not keeping any of it then just knock down everything and reno to your own theme and style. First time i heard stove build on balcony, they cook at the balcony? power man.
  15. Top right hand corner, under your login name, there is a "sign out". I think could be browser issue, i'm NOT facing any problem with sign out. Edited.
  16. So many things u didn't mention.... good to give it a pass since nothing is right. Good luck ya...... On the reno thingy, sometimes people just want to redo the house even if it is newly renovated cos simply don't want a trace of ex-owner. Of course must be supported by $$$$. Although i paid 40k COV and spent another 40k reno cos the house was in bad condition, if good reno will be bonus to me. My primary concerns are location first, facing(Feng Shui), high floor etc, reno is last.
  17. Seriously everything looks like it is on your side, val 553k, cov 55k(lower than ave asking 100k), can partition more rooms, near to your kids school etc.. So why gave up because of past transaction?
