How do funded accounts work? Can you trade with a platform’s money without depositing?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into funded account programs, but I'm confused about the mechanics. If you're trading with a platform's money, do you ever have to deposit your own funds into the live market? What happens if you incur a loss on the account, are you personally liable to pay back the lost money to the platform?

No, you are generally not personally liable for trading losses on a funded platform account as long as you operate within their risk parameters. Most online models require only an initial evaluation or challenge fee rather than a full capital deposit. The firm absorbs losses beyond your evaluation fee, while profits are shared according to a pre-agreed ratio (often 70%–90% to the trader).
