Stablecoin rails are officially cheaper than legacy remittance (SWIFT / Western Union)

Recommended Posts

I’ve been tracking international payment fees for my small e-commerce store. Sending $500 via traditional bank wire costs me anywhere from $25 to $45 after bank fees and currency spread. Sending USDT via Solana or TRX costs fractions of a penny and settles in seconds. We have officially hit the tipping point where stablecoin transfers are objectively the cheapest digital payment method on the planet. Anyone else migrating their business transactions over?

I made the full switch last year. I run a remote agency with staff in Southeast Asia and South America. Saving 3–5% per transaction adds up to tens of thousands per year. I saw a piece on https://fintechzoom.com/cryptocurrencies/stablecoins/stablecoin-transfers-got-cheap/ detailing how modern L2 integration and gas optimization crushed those costs down to near zero. Once off-ramps in local currencies get even smoother, traditional banks are going to lose the remittance market entirely.
