Plumbing Charges - What Is Reasonable

Recommended Posts

i got charged $200 for clearing a toilet choke by a plumber. He said my choke was "complicated".

he said he has to use cable but that was about it and he took under half an hour to do it

Question...did i get stiffed by this dude?

How much does it normally cost to clear a simple vs a complicated choke?

ps its an old style 20 yr old private apartment

private apartment charges are higher than hdbs.

charges for hdb - http://www.jrtc.org.sg/services_handyman.htm

complicated choke? he uses a machine to clear it? as long as no machine is used, no hacking of sewage pipe...cant deem it as "complicated" :bangwall:

lol. when i looked at the JRTC charges, i realised that the bugger charged me more than all the 8 items listed combined despite just doing ONE of them. And there was NO machine involve either.

I guess by "complicated", it means he realised i am non-HDB with no basis for comparison and so he was going to have to fleece me !

hehe.... i felt it's better to show you the "official" market rate to let you do the comparison rather than telling you are a sheep who has just got shaved naked.

usually for private estates, minimum charges for handy works are at least $60 and above.
