Advice Needed - 2mm Laminate Used For Kitchen Cabinets

Recommended Posts

hihi.. was at a home-stuff roadshow and i was perusing some of the sample lamintes by Formica at their booth.. this sales person mentioned that using 2mm laminate is better for kitchen cabinets.. (i didnt know what's the standard thickness in the first place).. does anyone know why so? and if anyone has used the 2mm thickness before for their cabinets.. cost-wise, definitely more ex but i wonder what are the advantages (and disadvantages) too...

any kind soul can help shed some light on this? or share their experience?

thanks!! :D

Hi, I do not know much about this and can't offer much help, but from my experience, most laminates I saw for kitchen cabinets are 0.6mm to 0.8mm. There was a 1mm thick laminate that I saw in the book of sample laminates, and it looked pretty impressive. Thicker laminates does look to me that it is unlikely to warp and peel off.
