Toa Payoh Blk 79 Kakis

Recommended Posts

Hi Neighbours,

Heard a murder case happened at block 79C. Anybody knows about it? Yesterday night at about twelve plus, there were a number of police cars parked below my block. Only knew it was a murder case this morning but do not know the details to it as yet.

Elderly man found stabbed to death in bedroom

By Carolyn Quek

A 73-YEAR-OLD man was found dead in a pool of blood on the bedroom floor in a flat in Toa Payoh Central on Thursday night.

He had stab wounds to his upper body and a knife was found next to him.

His daughter, who is in her 30s, is believed to have found him dead when she returned to the flat in Block 79C after 10 pm on Thursday.

The victim, said to be a retiree, was lying face up in a pool of blood.

He was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene at 11.05 pm.

Neighbours The Straits Times spoke to said they heard no commotion.

Police are investigating the case as murder.

Thanks! This is the 2nd time the mailman mis-delivered already. :furious: Luckily it is delivered to you. :notti: Wonder how many such cases are there... Nowadays, we lock our movable slot to prevent junk mail so if the mail is delivered wrongly, we also cannot put it in the correct mailbox... only way is to put it in the returned mail box and hope the mailman delivery correctly this time...

Anyway, if I'm not in when you come, you can just slot it under my door. Thanks!! :sport-smiley-004:

:yamseng:

will your doggie chew on it?? Wait important mail then kana eaten how?

Hi all,

Yeah man. I totally agree with you. The people drinking at 24 hrs coffee shop are a potential problem. And really, where the **** are the police. Shifted in so long, never seen them on foot patrol before. Especially at night when all sort of weird people gather in and around our estate.

In the past, I would see them cycle or walk around. Are the Police officers too pampered these days that they have forgotten how to use of their legs?? Toa Payoh NPC... better wake up your idea..... You guys are giving your station a very bad name. Our estate is just next door and you guys are letting criminals S**T on your head. Well done........ Do something about all the crime in our estate please.......

Yah man! Always must wait until something serious then they will pull up their socks!! Just like what one female million $$$ MP has said, "Want pangsai then go find jamban". And now the sai already "lau kui khor!"

No news yet on whether it's break-in or by someone known to the victim... maybe tonight's Chinese evening daily should have more info.

So i think for now, all neighbours should be wary of strangers coming to your house, especially those who say they're from the HDB, SPower, Starhub, etc. Must ask for identification or call up to check. Even those who are selling locks, security alarms, replacing hinges, etc. Must be extra careful!

Hello Mr Wong & Mr Hen! Pay you million $$$ salary to sleep on the job har?? Or too busy counting $$$ to notice what's happening to your GRC?? Honest mistake again or complacent again??

Hi Pooh_75,

You don't say! Just last month or so, there some police going round our units knocking on doors to tell us about the numerous break-ins in our blocks. As if we don't already know??!

Then still have the cheek to say that although they are just next door, sometimes due to shortage of manpower or time constraint, they may not be able to attend to our calls that fast. So they hope we can understand and give them time to respond. They also said that it's not very possible to do frequent foot patrols as there're just too many TPY blocks to cover, but will TRY.

Heard morale in the SPF super low... that's why all the recent screw ups... from Mas Selamat to the ICA. I don't blame they bottom level personnel... when the top is crooked, what do you expect from the bottom?? Want to be First World government and take First World salary but give Third World results and performance!

Hi meepok,

Ya lor. We have to take extra care when walking back from MSCP. Stupid HDB design, so many dark corners where would be criminals can hide and ambush.

Also don't understand how HDB can issue permit to allow 24hrs coffee shop to sell alcohol round the clock when they are so many families with women and children living upstairs. Wat's next? Maybe we will see "massage parlours" popping up in HDB Hub? :sport-smiley-004:

For all unhappy residents with the crime rate in our estate. Please arrow emails to the IC of Toa payoh NPC and cc MP if necessary.....we tax payers are the customers..... as highly paid public servants.....they better give us satisfactory service.

I think they should introduce a “Worst Unit” award in the Singapore Police Force and let the public vote. I will definite vote for Toa Payoh NPC.

Was very shocked when I heard about the murder case when driving to work this a.m. Safety and security is definitely an issue in 79 now. So many break-in case and now a murder case (dunno whether it's a break-in though).

For those that are going to finish renovation works, especially when u have already some valuable items to yr unit, pls be careful. I understand that there have still been several break-in case and these people always strike after the units were cleaned up after reno and some items already there such as fridge/oven etc. Seems like there are people monitoring the reno process! My contractor told me that some workers (who look like cleaners) will pop by to look at the unit and asked if they wanted to throw away some rubbish at the unit. Hence immediately after my contractor cleaned up the place, he asked me to lock up the gate and main door, instead of just lock up the chain lock. Luckily I did that and the next day I noticed that someone had meddled with my chain lock!

Saw that someone mentioned about Meet-The-MP session. Do you think it's useful for us to gather and feedback our concern to our dear MP before other unfortunate things happen there again?

Just some of my input, I do notice that the new neighbours who bought Tv, fridge, washing machines, fans, lights, etc etc just discard the boxes at the lift lobby. This is really serve as some "guidelines" to those who have evil intention that there items for them to prey on, on that floor.

Hope these people will seriously do their fair share to bring those boxes downstairs to the disposal area. I mean the big rubbish collection area and not the small rubbish bin in front of the lift lobby. I think a gentle reminder to the delivery guys helps.

Ware is Hana??? Quick draft a super powderful letter for security lapse in TPY. Then we can all gather at someones home and sign and pass to the MP to complain complain complain ah!... :furious:

Security issue in Singapore is getting worse by the day, police personnel low morale, price increasing, ppl up there shaking leg getting big pay getting cover ups.

Casino is coming soon, the worse is yet to come. With this kind of security issues at hand, i cannot imagine wat will happen when the 2 giant casinos start their operation.

Local population is getting lower, so need to employ more foreigners to take over the police force.

But wat can we do? sit down and nod head. Yes Sir! Yes Sir! and smile :D

;)

I agree. Instead of giving excuses all the time and stepping up patrol for only short periods of time, HDB designers and planners should also do their part more actively and look for long term solutions to help ease security issues in Public housing area.

They should be following the examples of their HK counterparts. Although the flats in HK don’t look nicer than ours, most flats have restricted access via security access card systems. Shouldn't first world countries have first world public housing with first world technology?
