Can Kitchen Cabinet Be Removed Partially?

I'll get my resale flat soon. The current kitchen cabinet is maintained quite well so I wanna keep it. The problem is the cooking area. It's located next to kitchen window and opposite to the toilet door. I wanna move it inside, next to the cabinet. But the space left (about 880mm) is not enough for cooking hob. My budget is really to tight to rebuild the whole cabinet and cooking area. Is it possible to remove part of the cabinet only? Anyone did this kinda change before?
