Storage Water Heater

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just installed a storage water heater(Ariston 30L) in my new house(not staying there yet) and I also asked the plumber to change all pipes in both toilets to stainless stain.

After the pipes are changed and the heater is installed, the plumber open back the main water valve to check if there is any water leakage and to fill up the storage heater.

After checking there is no water leakage at the pipes and storage heater, he switch on the storage heater to ensure the heater is working(there is a red light to indicate the heater is on).

After about 20 mins, the red light on the heater went off. This means the water in the heater is already heated up, water rdy for usage. We tested the water and it is pretty hot so I guessed everything is okie and I went back to my parents' place.

The next day, I decided to go to my new house to test out my new rain shower and the heater. I switch on the heater and the water is ready for use after 20 mins.

So I went to shower but as I was showering, I realised the water get colder as a few mins so I turned the knob on the rain shower mixer to allow more hot water in.

After a while, there is completely no more hot water. I tried a few times, the hot water at most only lasted for 10 mins.

Is this normal? If it is not normal, can someone share with me their experience? Thanks

Regards,

Jiaxing

The water will get colder then the hot water is slowly using up, but it shouldn't last for 10 mins only unless you are using VERY hot water. My Ariston is 15L only and can last me through a 15 mins shower with no problem.

What is the temperature setting on your heater? (the dial near the red light - it is pointing to around 50%? 75%? max.?)

Current setting is at 75%. Does water pressure make a difference?

hmmm 75% is quite a norm leh. Sorry a few more questions:

1) Is your storage heater in the same toilet as your rain shower?

2) okie this is going to sound very stupid, but no harm checking - is the piping connected correctly, i.e. cold water to the cold side of the mixer and hot water to the hot side of the mixer?

why i asked this is becos this is what happened to my tap... the water was getting cold gradually, so i kept adjusting to the hot side but it just gets completely cold soon. after that i realised the plumber actually swapped the cold and hot side... no wonder water not hot.... i felt really stupid at that point :bangwall:

Water not getting hot enough can be caused by:

a) the hot water is not hot enough to start with.

b) there is not enough hot water to mix and give you the desired temperature

I think in the physical sense, water pressure should not play a significant part unless the water need to travel a long distance before reaching your shower ;)

Meanwhile, you can try turn the temperature setting higher, say, 85~90% or even max., it should be able to last for a longer shower :)

I staying in an EA, I think I have the same model as you 30L Ariston. To replace the old same ariston 30L tank (rusty water).

The tank was fix in the kitchen next to the toilet. Setting was at 75%.

it took about 1 mintues to enjoy the hot water in the kitchen (almost instantly) good for my kids but took about 20mins for me to enjoy in my room which is about 12m pipe which lasted only about 15mins and the water turn cold too.

Did you try in both toilet?
