Furnitures/ Furniture Shops

Recommended Posts

I can't really find a thread that gives a general review on the furniture shops but I wanna share what I have seen so far!

Visited TradeHub 21 last week to visit a contractor so decided to look ard at the furniture shops..

1. Defu

Service: Attentive staff. Followed us around the whole shop and recommended stuffs.. No black face when we left without buying anything.

Furnitures: Nice TV consoles & dining tables. One sofa caught our eye.. Ermm.. Can't comment much on the price coz I'm nt sure what's the market price?

2. Sincere Furniture Centre.

Service: Sincere! Haha.. Joe is a great sales man and I feel he's frank with us on the furnitures he is selling..

Furnitures: Nice and Cheap. We end up buying a bed frame with storage + mattress for $1600. They have some bundle deal with TV Console, Coffee Table + Sofa which we are thinking of taking up.

3. Cellini

Service: One guy in the shop and he only smiles at us..

Furnitures: Classy, expensive looking and really not cheap! Oh.. Quite a lot of wooden furnitures!

4. Nova

Service: Waited a bit for a staff to attend to us but he ran off to service someone else after awhile.. Think they are abit short staff.

Furnitures: Alot! But I dun like them! Haha.. A bit old fashioned (I feel Defu's design looks beta..)

Another Day at Marina Square..

5. Mode Studio

Service: I feel the sales person was pushy.. Tried to pressure us to put in the order by saying today's the last day of their sales.. (which I think is not true!).

Furnitures: Very nice BUT expensive!! We liked a dining table in that shop and it is still at the top of the list for us..

Note: I read online that they are part of Red Apple. Not sure if it's true? Btw they call themselves "la-ca-sa" when I called.. Hmmm..

6. SY Living

Service: Not pushy. Patient. Attentive. Guy asked us to come back after renovations starts so we have a better idea what type/ colour of sofa we want.

Furnitures: Lots of wooden pieces.. And we liked a sofa in that shop! But nt cheap!!! 2.1k for a fabric sofa!

We went to most of the furniture shops at Marina Square.. Those that I did not mentioned = not much impression (Sorry!)

And I also visited Park Mall the night before.. Let's just put it as: Nice things are super ex. Else dun waste time. =p

SG?

My furnitures/ electrical appliances have mostly been sent over to my place last sat.. so some reviews on the companies:

1. Harvey Norman

- Eager to deliver my stuffs! Supposed to come after 1 pm but they called ard 11am ish to check if they can send over.

- No hip-cups. Just that my washer/ dryer's pipe need to change to something longer. And fridge can only be used after it sits there for 2 hrs.

2. Star Living

- Called when they are reaching.

- Ordered dining table chairs and coffee table.

- Chairs a bit shakey but they will fix it for u on the spot. Coffee table was nicely made.

3. Mode Studio aka La Casa

- My dining table with wrong legs!!!!

- They fixed up the table nicely for us and as we were checking, my husband asked if this is the same table we chose the other time around.. The table we chose was on their website and guess wat! We chose a 8 legged table and it became a 4 legged one!

- Called the lady who sold us the table and she said to leave the dining table behind and she will check for us and revert on Monday. Remaining balance not paid.

- Monday/ Tuesday: Her reply was "China side doesn't do the 8 legged one anymore and SG side wasn't inform of the change. We will arrange to change for you soon. Not sure when is the nxt shipment from China. Will keep us inform."

- Story will continueeeee.....

4. Sincere Furnitures

- 3 separate deliveries.

- Bed came first. Ok. No problem.

- TV console came then. There was a slight chip at the side but nvm..

- Bed Frame + Sofa came together at last.. All went smoothly.

5. Forty-Two (beds.sg)

- Ordered carpet and 2 bar chairs from them.

- Carpet is different from the one I chose. Delivery man called his boss and let me talk to them. Story: Carpet I chose was out of stock and the carpet they sent is very very similar to the one we chose.

- Bar chairs: dirty seats!

- Accept the carpet and reject the bar chairs.

- They have been very prompt to follow-up with me on the chairs on Monday & Tuesday. So nt bad la..

Hi Cysta,

some shops / websites where I've bought my furniture:

THE GOOD ONES

1. Star living (www.starliving.com.sg): Got several items from their shop near Labrador Park mrt. Services is pretty good, price reasonnable.

2. TANGS: bought my bed there, it's exp but they do special discount days for cardmembers, citybank, etc.. Service tip top and good quality, smooth delivery.

3. The designer chair (www.thedesignerchair.com) Got this website on recommandation from a friend, they specialise in designer replicas. Nice and knowledgeable sales guy (not sure he is French or Italian...). I got my lounge chair here, A bit exp but still cheaper compared to other shops and quality is really tip top.

4 Franc franc: got some home accessories there, service is very good, some nice designs.

THE AVERAGE ONES

1. Sea horse: got a sofa and a mattress there. Cheap and quality is ok but service is terrible, like... no service actually

2. Ikea. Well, it's like...ikea. Huge shop, large choice, pretty cheap but quality so so

THE BAD ONES

1. Red apple. Deliver items that are broken (and they knew it). Just don't go there

2. Ritz Rymen. Service is pretty bad, sofa looks good when new but ages quickly

I have a blog here on mid century modern, vintage, wood furniture that I've checked out over the past month or so.

Those I like for Vintage is Journey East and Like That One.

For Wood pieces, Commune has pretty nice ones too.

Take a read at my blog for a much longer write up. :jammin:

Hello there! I recently moved to a new city and needed to furnish my apartment on a budget. That's when I discovered Kaiyo. Their wide selection of pre-owned furniture caught my eye, and I decided to give them a try. Not only did I find exactly what I needed, but the kaiyo customer service was also exceptional. They were responsive to my inquiries and ensured a smooth transaction.
