Ideas For Renovating An Old 4 Rm Flat

Hi all,

I am looking for ideas to renovate the house. Floor plan as follows:

Have not approached any ID or contractor yet and would like to get the opinions of the old hands. Can the kitchen accommodate an island? And a proper washing/ laundry area?
