Moving an Above Ground Electrical Line and Pole

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

We've got a new corner terrace that we're going to start work on end of December and one of the things we're trying to find out is how to move a current above ground electrical pole with lines that are coming right to a corner of our house on the second floor.

Anyone with experience how best to shift this pole (with SingPower and Energy Market) and the lowest cost to be able to do this, as we will be tapping on the underground line and not needing this but it does serve the rest of the community?

Cheers.

you will need to engage a Licensed Electrical Worker to do any electrical works.

PUB would know whether the cables there are still in use or not and then advise on whether that pole can be relocated or not.

nowadays not many of these poles in Singapore. you so "lucky" to encounter one for your house. :)

Thanks man.  Yes, ultra lucky.  It's one of the older estates and so some folks are still using the electricity from the poles!

I think it’s going to cost quite a bit if you want to switch from using the supply from the pole to a new underground supply.

Assuming the house doesn’t have an existing underground supply to your house, you need to get PUB to pull a new underground cable to your house. If your house does not have existing meter box outside, then you might need to build a new meter box as well to have the utilities meters relocated outside.

Again, PUB would be the best to advise what you need to do

Is there public land to resite a new pole? Such diversion is only cost effective if easy alternatives are available.

Powergrid doesnt do national service. The entire cost of such a diversion will be charged to you, including neighbours diversion if its still serving them.

Hi there, any updates on this? I am facing the same situation as you. There are lines coming through to the electrical pole situated at the corner of our back yard.

Cheers.

Hi Zesi, not sure if you resolved this already. This is an easy connect with SP services team through their business portal. Their officer will be in touch within a few days and come down onsite to give you advice and then a quotation for the shift. Fairly straight forward.

Do you have a good generator that is able to provide you with the sufficient level of energy? I really hope so, because if it's not, you may experience some serious troubles soon enough. Sudden stops and stuff like that will because something common if you will not solve the problem from its early beginning. In that particular case, I can only recommend you upgrade your generator or to go and see for a new one on a place like https://woodsybond.com/what-will-a-7000-watt-generator-run/. You will be satisfied with their prices and you will enjoy the quality of the product, that I can guarantee.
