My first experience in choosing IDs so far: I uploaded my floor plan on Renotalk website and requested for quotations. Initially, I was flooded with many calls from several IDs. Almost all of them AGAIN! asked me to send the floor plan to them, even though I uploaded the floor plan on the website in the first place. Also all the IDs wanted to meet me and see the site. I asked all the IDs to drop me an email with their first quote based on the floor plan and my initial requirements for me to consider before I can meet them up. If not, I need to spend next many weeks just to meet them all! Surprisingly, most of the IDs never send me any email after the call. Only a handful few sent me emails some with standard package offers inspite of me mentioning what I wanted to do! Few of them sent me intro email and after that no response! I was impressed by Vincent Blog (http://www.vincentinteriorblog.com/) on his knowledge and advice to new home owners like me. I reached out to Vincent and sent him my floor plan and requested for quotations. (similar to Renotalk). I was recommended to 2 IDs by Vincent. Unfortunately AGAIN, no response by both the recommended IDs, inspite of me waiting for over 3 weeks for them to respond! Looks like every ID in this business is very busy with loads of projects! Appears to me that ID business is a good business to be in! In the next part, I will write about my experience in shortlisting the ID’s – thanks to the Renotalk friends feedback and some personal contacts.

Hi folks, Recently thinking of a partial innovation of my hdb flat (smaller type of 4room, 83sqm). Here is a quote that I have just got. Is it possible to find a quote a few hundred dollars cheaper? Or maybe can the current quote adds a couple of small work items? . Supply and lay 600 x 600 homogenous floor tiles (based on $3.30/sqft) for the living room of about 200 sqf (hacking off cement). $1700 Supply and lay wall tiles (based on $3.30/sqft) at kitchen to the ceiling (hacking off existing tiles and cement) $2000 Demolish store wall and block the existing entrance using hollow blocks including haulage $800 Demolish kitchen entrance wall including making it good/touchup and rubbish disposal (about 33 sqf). $600 Change electrical casing and switches $300 Paint the entire unit/doors/frames/piping $1050 Free application for HDB permit No GST Thanks a lot in advance. Please advice.

Thanks for your compliment! The dining table is shipped via Oops and its not expensive at all. Considering its solid wood and in such a beautiful shade of colour, its approx $650 with shipping + gst , I've seen this table in SG for $1k++ and those laminate/veneer ones going for $500+ Its price-worthy in my opinion and I've got a lot of compliments for the table!

If I've used Peeks might be more straight forward. But I try to save a bit by liaising with the sellers direct, cutting away the fee that have to be paid for assisted purchase service. Initially was a bit confusing with Aliwangwang, Alipay blah blah...but I do get to chat direct with the sellers on my queries and ask for customisation for certain items if they do provide such service . Yup, what I like about my house layout is that it is clear-cut enough, no weird corners or space to waste
