To these kind of old aunties (i assume she's old), the more you tell her off, the more she'll make your life ****. Trust me, my mother-in-law is one of them. Her neighbour once told her off about her potted plants but she just ignore and purposely buy more and stack near her doorsteps. So i suggest you try to get into her good books. For instance, you can buy her plants and give to her as a welcome/hello gift and put it somewhere or in the middle of both your territories (as a divider). Then you can give her some oranges when nearing CNY. Finally, offer to water her plants whenever she's not around. Then it'll be easier to discuss with her your plans. To these old folks, they are either deaf or they never listen but can still make alot of noise so it's best to get along with them. BUT if everything fails, just go ahead and kill her plants

Hi ladyluck, hmmm...not quite sure what u mean by unclear boundaries...has that person bypass your authority and went straight to your boss? Have you ever had a good talk (be nice!) with that person and let him know that it's unacceptable and you'd prefer he discuss with you first before going to your boss? I'd a really bad face-off with my manager before and she was one big @*?-hole. I wasn't aware that I can't go directly to my boss for his signature/approval of my projects and had to discuss every little things with her and MAN, she did make my life **** from there. Before u jump in at me, let me explain. I'd to approach our boss becos she's always not around for any discussion (busy with customers, out on sales call or meetings) so I thought it's alrite to get our boss for my project approvals. Of course, your subordinate deserves a beating if he always pushes his responsibility around and blames others for his mistakes but he also deserves a good talking to for he might not know he'd 'crossed your boundaries'. Be nice & good luck! ps: if he still behaves as if he owns the world after talking to him, report his bad behaviour to your boss and leaves him to your management's discretion. ~just my 2cents hor~

I must have been so busy looking at the interior of my new flat (resale) that I didn't notice this red hydrant pipe located just along the corridor. It's very obvious when I'm looking out from the inside of the house. It's location is not directly in the middle facing the gate but slightly to the left.

hi all i'd been advised by one of the contractors to do overlay by using ceramic tiles for the living room because of time and $$$ savings but i'd heard of the problems that overlay might cause. Any advice from those who'd overlaid ceramic tiles in their living rooms? Any problems? Thanks! btw, he also suggests overlaying the kitchen and toilets floor and wall tiles. He says it's approved by HDB so worries wor. But I'm abit worried that it might pop or crack and hit someone or worse my own dotter. How? Help???

I too am looking forward to start a family with my hubby but couldn't conceive after 1 year of marriage. I went around seeing one gynae after another. Initially I was given Clomid for 6 months but no results so change gynae to another at Raffles Medical who suggested something call HSG/Xray to see what's wrong inside my womb but nothing wrong so change to another gynae at AMK who suggested doing Laparoscopy to see what's wrong. Did that and found I'd slight endometriosis and my fallopian tubes are blocked. Shortly after the op, I was again placed on medication to ensure everything's alright and after about 6 months of relaxation overseas, I'm finally pregnant! So if you've decided to have a baby and your financial status permits (cos everything's not cheap), use up all the alternatives to determine the root cause of your infertility before you try out IVF. I'm not saying you've to follow my footsteps as there are mothers I know who got pregnant after 10years of trying without any help. Perhaps like what the rest of the forumners said, a relaxed state of well-being could just be the answer. IVF is not easy and it's a painful process with no guarantee of conceiving. Too much of anything is always not good. Have sufficient intake of fish, eggs, tofu etc is more important as having a good health is beneficial to having a healthy baby. I'm not sure if there's any substantial evidence but i feel having too much of birdnest may actually harm your baby. A friend of mine had birdnest every other day and her baby ended up with very sensitive skin. Of course, formula-feeding may also be a contributing cause but it's better to be safe than sorry. So Birdnest is good to have in moderation, perhaps once or twice a month. As to your question of having a brainy baby, like what Thomas Edison said, 'Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration'. You'll need alot of hard work to excel in anything. I've seen parents who are hawkers and their children are doctors or lawyers and they don't even take any special herbs when they're pregnant. So having the apt environment and correct values/teachings as well as the right support, they will grow up and excel in their own fields. So you too will have to work hard in your parenting skills to bring up someone of good character and values. Just my 2cents!

we went to one at Mt Alvernia and they basically teaches you the right breathing techniques when the contractions come and how to push during delivery as well as how to bath/feed/carry the baby and the right confinement food. I personally finds some tips useful but most of the time, I'm dreaming during the classes. keke, i'm always a dreamer. It's really a personal choice. I feel if you're opting for c-section or epidural before delivery and you're intending to get a nanny during your confinement, you can give this a miss but if you've some free time to spare, no harm going as you can chit-chat with other first-time mommies there! So enjoy while you can as you're going to be very busy when your little one arrives! Btw, congrats!

Yalor, don't know if there're any hidden costs and end up paying more than I should if I'm with HoBee. Another forumner who'd engaged IDEAL advised to have everything written down in black and white and gave some useful tips so I guess I just had to cross my fingers and hope that everything goes well. pssst: actually I'm more attracted to IDEAL is becos of the 3 aircons they are throwing in for free ya very gian....no choice cos not enough $$$
