  1. Hi Rainbowguy, How about going to their shop/office to look for them?
  2. Hi Mickey, Er.. personally, I don't think conceal wiring look nicer/better. To my opinion, only conceal plug and switches look nice (meaning, totally nothing shown on the wall, clean look wall). And after going through the previous hassles, we still stick on to our easy-maintenance motto. Hee.. For our reno, we didnt conceal any wire casing or build false-ceiling for lightings, and we even avoided wiring going into our carpentry. We also put in more effort to discuss and decide the wiring route for both the aircon & electrical. The end-result was neat and hardly noticeable. But for those having hanging lights/ those spot lights on a bar, I agree that concealed wiring definitely make these lights look better without that casing sticking out. But we didn't go for any hanging lights cause we're both scare off by the cleaning of those hanging ones. We belong to the ai mia mai swee kind. I have seen some blogs here where they went for conceal electrical wiring but their aircon route was like a big maze. And another blog who did conceal wiring and after the reno, the electrical works cannot make it (trip etc) and his electrician just refused to come back to settle it as everything was conceal which make it so difficult to check/'re-do'. Even when they check out other electricians, they are refused as no electrician want to clear **** for the earlier one.
  3. Hi Angteko, Saw that your electrician doing conceal wiring for you. Not sure if you have made special instruction to your electrician to do the concealing. But the last that I heard about the guideline was all electrical works prohibited from concealing under the floor. Not sure if there's any amendments to this. Just to share, we prefer not to conceal our wiring as its very difficult or quite impossible to rectify future electrical issue as most electricians prefer not to take on cases of houses with concealed wiring as they want to prevent the hassle of rectifying the conceal areas. We encounter this twice and decided to leave our wiring un-conceal for the recent reno to avoid future hassle.
  4. Hi Crystal535, Congrats on the moving-in. Is it your microwave or oven machine that you place beside the hob? Personally I think it placed to close to the hob and it might get too hot if you cook there. The electrical component inside might get 'burned' from the heat. You might want to relocate the microwave. Your tv console & feature wall look kinda messy. And its my first time seeing that two sound 'sticks' placed on the tv console. It look kinda strange to me, I thought its suppose to be place on the floor? Er.. just my personal view.
  5. Hi Wcseow, Welcome back! Nice flat layout. Our reno criteria was quite close, we also wanted simple, easy to maintain and spacious. But we didnt have your item 7 in list. Hee.. personally I think most of the places features on magazine/ website weren't really easy for maintance. Will look forward to your t-blog on this. Good luck on your reno hunt!
  6. Hi Mountainsmith, Welcome!! You're so lucky to get no. 1 Q#. Your house layout is similar to mine except for the kitchen area. I think your marble look good too, it will be shiny after the polish. I thought marble will be suitable for victorian theme? By the way, Im curious about the floor area of your flat. Is it 110sqm or 120sqm?
  7. Hi Pat@CV, If Im not wrong, risis also used Edmund for her reno. We contacted Edmund before during our renovator search too. But we didnt get him. This is the link to risis blog: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18371 Good luck on your reno hunt.
  8. Hmm.. seriously.. your kitchen look very crampy. 3ft = <1m distance? Thats really tight. And still have drawers/ cabinet doors to take up the space if need to open them.
  9. Hi Mickey, That's quite cute. Personally, I think the motifs look abit too low, they might be 'blocked' if there's any furniture in the space infront. Would be better if they are placed higher, so that they can be spotted from afar. Hee.. So these 'glass doors' can be open right? Er.. I thought those aluminium window frames look ok. Painting the frames white will 'highlight' the windows which I thought look weird in a 'garden' setting, wasn't they supposed be to 'hidden'. From the earlier pics, the frames look slightly brownish to me and it kinda of suit the garden kind of setting. Hee.. my personal view.
  10. Nice DIY. But I also cant bear the thoughts of maintaining them. Hee.. trying not to think about the insect parts... hee.. Im curious about the 3 'door'/ 'hole', will you be putting glass doors or something? Or is it the 'end-product'?
  11. Hi Ossify, Your total reno bill of $13,497.21, does it including the flooring (laminates), power plugs (eubiq), doors (swing & bi-fold) and carpentry (kitchen cabinet, wardrobe, tv console, toilet cabinet, etc)? By the way, for mounting of TV, it usually mount by the tv delivery guy.

Hello Melvin, Welcome! Nice layout. Is this a 4-room with balcony or 5-room? I love your utility room, is it from upgrading? I like your kitchen cabinet layout too... no wasteful corners and lots of table top. Hee.. You might want to check with your ID/contractor about the slight shifting of chute location. I think the chute cannot really shift. But better to check with those professionals.
  13. Hee.. I think thats the problem with EMs. Think alot of EM owners don't understand why hdb design such a small kitchen for EM when the expected no. of occupants should be more than the usual 4-R, 5-R.
  14. Hee.. this trolley looks good. I think we saw some white marble top look-alike trolley ones at causeway point previously (sorry, forgot the shop name, its a furniture shop at the swenson's side). You may want to consider those also since your laminates are glossy white ones. By the way, I suddenly recall seeing a pull-out top at one of the forumer's kitchen. Quite nice and useful. I almost wanted to do it. Its a drawer which allow you to pull out around 2 times the depth but it doesn't have 'legs' to the floor. The owners bought the mechanism and asked their carpenter to install. Good for those with top constraint. You might want to check with your carpenter about this. I think the left-most top drawer look like a good spot to put this mechanism.
  15. Morning Kopi, Saw your kitchen design. Look nice and modern. Hee.. I also have the same feeling as Angel, like not enough top. Have you allocated some space for those rice cooker, electrical flask etc? All these usually take up the top space. Another thing that I noticed was, your fridge is a side-by-side fridge. So one side open to block the sink and the other side open to block the oven... ummm.. abit inconvenient and make the working space in the kitchen even more constraint. And if taking heavy / bulky stuff out from the fridge, is there top available to put it down without closing the fridge doors? I don't know if the fridge door at the oven side will knock into oven door if the oven door is left open for cooling. You might want to check it to confirm. Er.. personally, I think really abit short of top space. You might want to look into alternate top space like having another table at the side, fold down table etc.
  16. Here's our experience with wmf. We also had a set of wmf pots after reading those raves from the forum. After using the pots, we noticed that we got to wash the pots real clean, otherwise, there will be some brown/black stains showing at the inner sides of the pots the following day after the wash. And there will be little white dots (think its some insect or something, but can hardly see the legs, just can see white dots, should be quite micro kind) will show inside the pots. We guessed that these white dots show up cause of those brown stains which are 'food stains'. Hee.. but sound pretty scary, right? Anyway, we try to wash the pot again and it look clean after the wash. But the next day, when we examined the pot inner, again there is still some brown stains. And we spotted 2 white dots again. Ummm.. We are quite surprised to encounter these as we thought wmf was real good with all those good reviews online. I told my mum about these and my mum who had lotsa experience with cleaning, bought us a metal scrub which can easily remove those stubborn brown stains with alittle water. I don't know where she bought those. But its quite good and it doesn't scratch the pots. Despite the hard to 'scrub/clean' brown stain after each cooking, because wmf pots are using good stainless steel material, we can use white vinegar to remove those hard to clean stain. White vinegar are very strong cleaning agent, so they cant be use on pots that use inferior material. Wmf pots can take white vinegar. Hee.. I agree with Charemme, these wmf pots also have water stains on them. So got to wipe them real dry after washing to prevent it, cannot drip/ air dry. Heehee.. but we always air dry them, cant be bother with the pot appearance. By the way, for those who bought these pots, remember to do the 'pot-opening' ceremony before you first use the pots. Just need to use white vinegar to open the pots.
  17. Hi Eugela, Congrats on getting the keys and starting your reno. We got the same layout too. Hee.. I seen 5 t-blog with this layout and all of us came up with different layout after reno. Hee.. looking forward to seeing your completed works.
  18. Hi Gantan88, Are you referring to those bamboo poles for laundry hanging? If so, you just need to measure the length that you want, the shop will cut them on the spot for you to the measurement you provide. So no need to buy the saw and cut yourself. Try to get these poles near your new places because need to carry them back. By the way, you might also want to check the maximum length that your lift can take in when considering the length of the poles. Those 'un-cut' poles cant fit into the lifts. There's another type of laundry poles which are retractable when you turn them, like sun wukong weapon. For those, no need to cut and easy to keep also.
  19. Hi Cat, Nice reno. Er.. don't need those cute signs. You just need to get your ID to install the glass door 'stopper' for both of your doors. The stopper can be installed either at top or side. For both of our glass door, we got them to install the stopper at the top.

Hee.. mine also on a Sunday evening, so by the time everyone left (including bros & sis), around 11pm cause some guests will tends to chit chat abit during send-off, plus the 'special drink' from the brothers at the end. Hee.. we're back in the hotel suite by 11.30pm. heehee.. We went Hokkaido for our honeymoon. Its really freezing cold when we're there. But was quite fun and interesting. Hee.. where are you guys going for honeymoon? Hee.. here's some pics that we took in Hokkaido..
  21. Good Morning Amrasenelya! Seems like your reno is coming to an end soon. Hee.. everything looking good. Should be in-time for your big day? We also cleaned to past mid-night last time, time seems to fly and when we looked at the clock, its past mid night. Hee..

Er.. actually I think don't have to plan too detailed because on the actual day, most of the things wasn't put to use. Eg. the morning session, the itinerary and timeline, we didnt really follow it, just need to know where to go and the car arrangement for the bros & sis. For the evening dinner, we totally didnt follow the timeline because the banquet manager will take care of everything. We just need to tell him how many gown change, the stuff to showcase and he will guide us along the way. Quite happy with that banquet mgr, as he got everything planned for us. Guess he's quite experience. We managed to finish the dinner around 10.15pm and no one left early. Hee.. I think that day even if you want to be a control freak also difficult. Because morning session, we can hardly move around in those heavy gowns so most of the time is Hb going around to check on stuff. And for evening time, most of our time are spent on makeup, hairdo etc, by the time we go down, the show already began. Heehee.. I left everything to hb that day and was quite happy that he managed to coordinate everything well. Hee.. guess you can leave everything to your man on actual day too. Im sure he can do a good job. Haven't collect the pics from the PG yet. My honeymoon pics also still in the camera. Hee.. getting lazy.. will try to take some move-in pics.
  23. Hihi Dextro82, Welcome! If Im not wrong, your layout is similar to kopi's one. Hee.. can take a look at his blog .. er.. but quite a number of pages. Hee..

Thanks! Everything went very smoothly and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. In a blink of eye, the morning session was over. Was glad that one of the brothers told me to just enjoy the day as it will slip pass very soon. So I just focus on being happy. Hee.. kinda miss that day after its over. The whole event felt so magical to me, would definitely tell all my gfs not to skip holding the customary. Hee.. yours coming up next. Remember to enjoy yourself and leave everything to your sisters/brothers and hb. You just need to be a pretty and happy bride.
