  1. 8th June - A rare dong tu day that falls on Monday!
  2. No problem newnyew =) You may want to check whether they have relocated their showcase from 3rd to 2nd yet. Otherwise wasted trip =( I was told their showcase next mth will be better. I was given a brochure on servo drive. Let me see if I can get any useful information for you tonight =)
  3. Are you referring to Henry as the one who did up your colleague's condo? Anyway I wasn't quoted by Ah Soon. His disciple Alan quoted me. But seeing the QC problem lately, confidence level reduced. His quotation also poorly itemised and some even more expensive than Henry!
  4. @newnyew The entire showroom activated by servo drive. I'm not sure about the energy comsuption but you may want to take these 2 pts into consideration: 1) If there's no electricity, you can only open your drawers from bottom (servo drive cabinets usually handle-less) 2) I have a tendancy to lean against the kitchen edge. I keep activating the servo drive to open the drawer unintentionally. Initially I was really freaked out >.<" I was at Ikea Tampines over the weekend and found that Ikea Rationell to look like old model of tandem box. The design is exactly the same and through web search, someone did found "BLUM tandembox" engraved (cant find any proof that it is indeed BLUM though). Nonetheless, all ikea soft closing hinges are from BLUM. Nuff said? The price of SS @ Welmi or Hoe Kee can easily buy 2 small Ikea Rationell Drawers for 40cm width cabinets. Henry advised discussion with carpertner before I proceed to make any purchase because Ikea items are made to fit their Faktum cabinets. Anyway I will still buy BLUM hinges | KIV on other parts (staff from BLUM provided me with the model no) from the authorised dealers. Yet to call though.
  5. Hmmm who else did you approach? In fact Henry's quotation is more reasonable compared to Yeak and Soon. Of course, I'm comparing the same items. My requirements are quite specific and Henry itemised every detail possible. I would set up a spreadsheet to document my requirements then counter check against quotation details.
  6. Bulky Items Removal HTB and I spent a few hrs on Sun dismantling furniture. Tiring but we had fun with my dad's Bosch drill. A small light bulb will be turned on whenever the drill is activated. Very useful when drilling dark corners. For those who are unaware, you can give Town Council three working days' notice to remove bulky items from outside your unit. Removal only on weekdays between 2-4pm. This service is FOC! =)
  7. The chosen one: Contractor A - Henry from Impress21 HTB and I find him comfortable to work with. Not to mention he is RDAC licensed. Will be signing on the dotted line on Wed! Wooohooo!
  8. Just a freaking hot day!!! And I walked from Bras Brasah Office to Jalan Besar *hot hot* Only visited Royal Fanco - Henry's price really reasonable as compared to Eestilo De Vida. Took a bus back to office then starting sneezing and eyes turning sore - must be the road dust!!!
  9. DIY laminate is not exactly easy...unless you have the correct strong glue u have to apply one layer on the back of laminate and another layer of the surface you want to stick on wait for the glue to dry until it doesnt stick your hand then stick the laminate onto the surface next impt step is to remove air bubbles underneath. learn this from Channel 8 DIY Homes
  10. despite waterproofing already done, assuming no kerb - shower screen will end up installed into floor tiles = possible leakage thru the "crackline"
  11. @Wendy Was showing HTB handleless kitchen...he commented a bit hard to open if its heavy. How is urs so far? If I didnt remember wrongly, yours is a slanted groove down inwards right?
  12. BLUM Showroom Ubi Biz Hub (Ubi Ave 4) This avenue has absolutely no bus! Not to mention a freaking hot Fri afternoon Later found out Ave 3 has bus 58 to/from Bishan. BLUM was relocating from 3rd to 2nd floor when I reached there. The original showroom was still intact. (heard the new showroom next month will be better) Despite being busy relocating, one staff attended to my queries. I was given a very big BLUM woven bag, brochures and one big fat like encyclopedia product & technical guide! (probably not the latest - maybe I become garang guni?) [Door Hinges] Click: BLUM Website - BLUMOTION for doors - spring vs non-spring (non spring goes well with tip-on) - clip on blumotion vs standalone blumotion - hinges of different degrees [Drawer Systems] Click: BLUM Website - Drawer Systems [Runners] - Single extension (drawer does not open fully) - Full extension (drawer opens fully - recommended) Beware! Some actual parts (claimed to be BLUM) which I've seen before does not exist in BLUM catalog or either it is very very old model. If you interested in BLUM, I urge you to understand your product well. Visit the showroom if you have the chance. 13. HDB will not allow no kerb below shower screen. Because w/o it will prone to water leaking. I just found out today because I wanted to remove existing kerb.
  14. eh I'm also @ 706 now...hahaa scully ive already seen you ard I'm facing the new fitness area.
  15. Oh!!!!!!!! My parent's place very very near you!!! Lucky for you that the lift upgrading has completed! I'm getting married and moving out towards end of the year...so gonna miss WC. WC Park - Big macdonalds and Big Playground! Two food centre and One West Coast Plaza now.....more than enough for me.
  16. Welcome to West Coast! Have been staying here all my life! Near stadium or near Nan Hua?
  17. Starts in June yup yup..so that HTB can monitor closely during sch holidays
  18. Desmond did mention that the hob is made of cast iron so it will rust easily than ss. My dad works next door of Asia. Just told him of a good bargain that is not meant for walk ins. He commented whether he is truthful about package originally available for contractors only.
  19. The Hunt Since 9th May, HTB and I have been inviting a handful of contractors and a ID to visit our place. In chronological order, Contractor A - Read from RT Forum - Very cool (almost expressionless) and patient - Everything ok to do yet will remind us what is more expensive to do - Quotation: Well itemised and reasonable Contractor B - Read from RT Forum - Doesn't seem to give any valuable inputs - Anything that is not height, told us to buy from shops - Has projects in Malaysia - Quotation: Not much details; More expensive than A on the same items (no company name somemore! first to strike out!) Contractor C - Recommended by colleague - ID cum Branch Manager with a different view of finishing - Quotation: Most expensive Contractor D - Read from RT Forum - Cheaper alternatives available for kitchen - Easy to communicate - Quotation: Close to of A Contractor E - Through friend - By this time, I was really really "sick" of repeating my requirements - Quotation: A few missing items Only Contractor A and C have their quotes revised twice. A still beat everyone hands down in terms of attitude and positive feedback from others. Most importantly, the price is reasonable too. Now waiting for Contractor A to revise version 3 and we are almost ready to proceed! Wooohooo exciting! Estimated Renovation Duration: 1.5 to 2 months (From June onwards)
  20. Glad to hear this!!!! Thanks!!!!
  21. It is uncommon to see fridge base same depth as cabinet. Standard kitchen cabinet depth is 60cm. Perhaps yours is more than 60cm? It is impossible to find a fridge that is so small! Besides you need to cater space for motor. You better check! I will not be making base for mine.
  22. So far any issue from Power Dekor?
  23. Didn't really spot the plump guy leh. The rest ya lor...one word answer or a sian sian face! Turn off esp since it already very hard to review their ss baskets in such a narrow passage!!! And yes I used Angel's pics for illustration but I didnt buy any. Merely took down sizes and prices. I browsed at Song Cho after that and realised that the steel is thicker but abt 150% more expensive! Then again weight of oil and sauces not that much so a cheaper version probably good enough.
  24. IMM Hoe Kee - awful experience with the lousy service. Arghhhh Uncle/Aunty not really helpful or smiley. I end up measuring the dimensions myself >.<" Anyway, this is what I have.. If the internal max width of cupboard is 40cm, this cost $95.01 each Ehh I forget to check this out.... but if it is two tier (rack + track width abt 23cm) and the upper deck is half width $95.01
  25. Ehhh the rusting part..that happens even w/o ss racks @_@ my mum uses plastic for salt and stainless steel or plastic for pepper i think...
