  1. yes, no payment involved during 1st appt. all will be explained to u during 1st appt. we were advised by our lawyer to submit cheque payment a week b4 2nd appt. u'll receive letter fm hdb & ur lawyer days later after ur agent submitted the form. docs needed to bring for 1st appt are all mentioned.
  2. YISHUN! was searching around this area b4 we settled for sembawang but find the units there are abt 30 yrs old & a little more ex. sembawang's units are abt 10 yrs old only....new. sad.... an ID called & told me if open a new door for my only bathroom, it would be abt 20% narrower than the standard. seems like hacking away one of the bathroom might not work. haiz...
  3. Thanks, Reiki. I got the hardcopy of it actually but YET to flip too lazy. well, time to study this & less DVD
  4. OIC.... in short, if we r sure of what we wanted, the cheaper way is do without the ID (juz like what we did for our current home). got it! i thot it's a must to engage an ID in order to get things going. tks Pbtgal, streak04.
  5. rierie, not from far away, juz a stone throw, Msia but travel back is like 3 hrs & 7 hrs respectively. pbtgal, am getting very confused! ID & contractors they r diff? ID is doing the design & we need to engage a contractor for the work on our own? is this wat u meant? pardon me, am not so clear abt this in sg. all i see is the details of ID engaged by RT members but hardly ppl mentioned abt contractors. confused confused confused. can u tell me where r the contractors mentioned in RT?
  6. pinkpetter, meaning so long as i don't touches the beam, it shouldn't be rejected by HBD, correct? walls i wanted to get rid off are none of those actually. not too worry abt the time taken to get the permit, rather whether it will b approved as i did heard abt the beam thingy b4. shall see how it goes... tks.
  7. not yet engage an ID, Blue_Diamond. Wanted to get straight what we wanted in mind 1st. Doesn't want them to give us too much suggestions & at the end not happy of the final product (juz like what happen to our current home). Preciousjam, Familyof4, yea.... not really sure if the toilet is hackable. will sure submit for approval. BTW, how does it work? Get ID, confirmed work, ID to get approval fm HDB, reno start? Familyof4, I thot any reno works done MUST get approval? No?
  8. thanks everyone! Ivy, Probably because they are Indian Muslim. Part of the ceiling is a huge "WOW" if you do see it. Very Deepavali cum Christmas. Merryman, SINGAPORE is a good place. Sembawang is alright just that it's a little too far from our workplace at Central. Familyof4, Yea.. consider spacious except the kitchen! SO.... it will be hacking, hacking & more hacking for kitchen, service balcony plus the bathroom 1. Including the walls too as i wanted a spacious kitchen. As per plan below but still, it's just a plan. At the end of the day if hacking down the walls are not allowed no choice but to reconsider.
  9. If it's not for our dear daughter, we won't have plan moving to Singapore. So this is especially for her, our Princess Cottage. Getting our keys before the National Day but not the Cottage until 2.5 months later. Meaning nothing can be done until end of Oct 09. Patiently waiting since.... No plan of renovating except the kitchen area but still considering. White is the theme of our Cottage as it's "too colourful" in our current. Sharing our floor plan below as well as some pictures taken where the current owner is still in-house. The Living Room, love the flooring but not the ceiling... the colour & theme that is! Painting it white should do the trick. The Master Bedroom The 101 Reason-To-Hate Kitchen but one thing I like about is, "THE RUBBISH CLUTE IS NOT IN THE FLAT!" The Bathroom
  10. yep! that's what i heard too but main purpose is not really this, it's more of savings. especially bb yr, need to change to a new lot of clothings every 3-6M.
  11. i know it's going to b messy. we r thinking if wanna reno, get it done once & for all. else, don't do anything, juz accept as it is. my only concern is, is it alrite to hack the toilet wall & make it part of the kitchen? but i guess no one done this b4 since most prefer having the extra toilet & won't get an answer until doc is submitted to HDB for approval. fm my understanding there r certain walls that we can't hack but the toilet wall shouldn't b one of it (hopefully). haiz.... y built the kitchen so small in the 1st place. citizens here don't do cooking at all? anyway.... else, i hack away the partition at service balcony to extend my kitchen..... seems there is no other places that i can "steal" some space for my kitchen other than the toilet & service balcony. here's what we r thinking of doing but again.. thinking is one thing, able to get it done is another. well, shall see how it goes.... hopefully it work out as we wish for
  12. save as much as u can be it for the child or rainy days. we don't start saving only when we foresee it's needed. how much needed is very much depends on what we wanted the child to be provided. i always believe in saving whenever possible (& not spend too much on the unnecessary) so that should a sum of money is needed in the near future we don't hv any issue getting it. during bb/toddler yrs, use hands-me-down items as much as possible. i've not bought much for my girl since birth, now almost 2yo, as she's got all her necessity hands-me-down fm friends/col/siblings. it saved alot this way. my sil who insist not having "old" items for her daughter end up spending so much which she insist is necessary as hands-me-down items are not hygenic (which i somehow don't agree).
  13. not so when u r used to it i guess. it's juz a few steps away anyway. at my parent's place, we even go down to 1st floor to use the toilet at night tho she have 2 toilets on 2nd floor (she don't used it & we r only there once in a while. in order not to inconvi her & make her wash after we left, we refrain from using it.) floor plan attached . the kitchen is only slightly bigger than my toilet. for someone who do cooking almost everyday, it juz won't do.
  14. Anyone converted one of the toilets into part of the kitchen (or others)? Who do we check with whether it can be done or not? Bought our 4rm recently but yet to obtain the keys. Was happy with everything except the kitchen which is really small. That's why thinking of hacking away the main toilet to be part of the kitchen plus sealing up the masterbed room toilet door & open a new one at the other side. we are fine with single toilet since we are not even using the 2nd toilet at our current home. any comments?
  15. actually this is what happen to my seller too, waiting for the money to come in before they can proceed with their new purchase. i am rather amazed that ur seller never bring the matter up earlier. we agreed when signing to OTP to allow them to stay to a max of 2.5M. we even signed a letter to it. no rent will b collected but they agree to reduce their COV which is alrite to us since we r not in a hurry at all. utility is on them as well. the rental collected from a tenant will go to us as well.
