  1. Buy a box spring and mattress, put the box spring on your existing frame and put mattress on top of box spring.
  2. I can respect your opinion. However, if you think about it, a mattress is supposed to last 10 years, the big brands have been around a long time and can be checked for reliability the smaller cannot. Also, if you look at some of the other threads there have been complaints about the brand being discussed here. So at the end of the day my opinion is that I prefer to spend my hard-earned money on a reputable brand or I will buy a series of very cheap mattress. I probably will not spend more than $2000 on a relatively unknown brand.
  3. You are legally entitled to cancel the order if the supplier misses the delivery date written on your order. If you go to small claims you will get your money back.
  4. The Sealy Summit that is on promotion right now has latex and is only $2588 for a Queen size. So you will actually paying more for a MaxCoil than a Sealy.
  5. Continuous coil also known as Miracoil is made by having a single wire coiled throughout the mattress, the entire system is connected and interlocked, the supposed benefit is better support but having tried such mattresses I just feel that they are very firm, not very comfortable. Pocket coil is when every single is supposedly independent. The idea is that there is conformance to your body and motion separation. Usually manufacturers make such mattress very firm to prevent sagging. To make such mattress comfortable manufacturers need to put in soft materials on the surface.
  6. Hi Noobhouse, Here's my take on the mattress shopping experience, everybody is going to say that their mattress is the best because otherwise you won't give them your hard-earned money. Below is a quick summary of the popular brands: King Koil in Singapore is manufactured by Matsu****a Great Wall, they are a licensee only, they don't even use the same logo as King Koil in USA. Simmons in Singapore is owned by a Japanese company, Simmons in the USA recently went bankrupt and was bought over by another company. Simmons in Singapore is overpriced because their technology is out-dated, you can get the same kind of mattress for half the price by buying a reputable local brand like Four Star. Serta in Singapore is manufactured in Batam, in the US Serta sells Mira Coil or continuous coil mattresses in Singapore they promote pocketed spring mattresses. Slumberland sells the same kind of spring as Serta in UK but in Singapore they try to pass it off as pocketed coil as well. Sealy in Singapore is owned by Sealy Inc. of the US, the product is the same as the US but it is manufactured in Thailand to reduce cost. The above are the top brands, the other less known brands are going to be even more dodgy.
  7. Well recliners are comfortable but with the very small homes in Singapore most people do not have the space.
  8. Top hung will be more expensive because of the track. I was quoted for a swing door. I ended up paying about 1.1K for a telescopic top hung door, so 1.3k is still high.
  9. Why are you promoting a US website? This is a local forum for people living in Singapore.
  10. Product quality should be ok but pricing will always be high but then again the stores at IMM are all a bit pricey.
  11. I was quoted $580 for a standard size 90cm wide tempered glass door, you quote is definitely high if it is just for the door. try besglas.com
  12. You can find many at yellowpages.com.sg Try Kim Hwee Sofa.
  13. If you look at the Classified ads in Straits Times you should be able to find someone to do it. It is not very costly.
  14. Aries, The cooker hob and oven is actually 2 separate appliance. Usually the hob is powered by gas and the oven will usually be electric. You really need to think about your need before deciding. Most people these day use a built in gas hob. The oven is optional, if you bake a lot then get one otherwise you don't need one.
  15. Depends, the door made of solid wood can paint, if the door is laminate then overlay.
  16. There's Sia Huat and Moderne at Chinatown, I think Temple Street. Tangs and Takashimaya has a wide range but if budget is limited then may not be appropriate.
  17. I recommend shopping at IKEA when you have a very limited budget. If you have a better budget shop at the better stores such as Lorenzo, Cellini, Lifestorey, OM
  18. I am using the spare room as my wardrobe and mahjong room
  19. Hmm... interesting observation because King Koil and Dunlopillo are the 2 low-end models at Taka. Dunlopillo is made in Vietnam, quality not as good as when they were made in Malaysia. Sealy, Simmons, Serta and Tempur are the No. 1, 2 ,3 and 4 brands in the world. If you trust brand history don't buy Dunlopillo buy Sealy.
  20. In Singapore, the law does not say that a company cannot sell something at a higher price than another. It is up to the shopper to do their research and find the best price. Having said that, I believe that once you actually place an order or buy something stop looking because you can always find a better price. The only benefit of comparing prices after committing to an order is heartache.
  21. There's a thread here somewhere that says the mattress sagged after 2 years. Anyway, what's the obsession with Omazz, it's a no-brand mattress passing off as a premium brand. If you have money to burn buy a Sealy or Simmons.
  22. You can try Robinsons, Tangs, Aussino, OG and Co'zy Just them them that you have a 14 inch mattress, there are many options at 15inches. Entire set should be below $300.
