  1. so sad.... Teka ovens mostly sold out Teka microwaves all models sold out...... unbelievable hopefully the models I want will arrive in the next shipment
  2. actually if there is hardly any heavy cooking or deep frying, you may want to consider ceramic hobs.. according to the demos i have seen, they produce less fumes yet produce high heat within shorter times with less fumes, not having a hood is probably fine
  3. no need to go Sitex.. was at Sitex on Thur, Expo was ridiculously crowded then Best Denki on Fri Prices are the same for LG and Samsung at both venues as for the hourly specials, I read in HWZ that they are nothing to shout about Overall, during my 2 hours at Sitex, did not feel that deals were all that good nor worth the trip
  4. Hi, it's based on market valuation and condition of reno at point of assessment plus a little premium In my case, the compensation (decided by Govt) in 2005 was market value plus a small premium So a 3rm flat then was valued at $176K, compensation was $195K
  5. nice.. you have the luxury of a lot of space
  6. i had initally wanted a washer/dryer combo as well till i notice the pricing methodology there are washer/dryer out there cheaper than washer alone and that is for the same load; i.e. 8kg/4kg washer-dryer can cost less than 8kg washer for the same brand somehow i think it should not be this way till i realise the drying cycles in most of such machines take anything from 2 to 4hours imagine a 1.5hr wash cycle and a 2.5hr dry cycle... twice since a full wash load needs to be broken into 2 dry loads moreover, a breakdown in 1 function means the loss of use of the other function of course, it may take many years to break down but i think not worth the risk
  7. I have not used one previously but will still get one for the new place to avoid having to dismantle the top cabinets in future should i change my mind for HDB, only recycling models are allowed so the fumes pass thru the filters and get circulated out again into the kitchen for chimney hoods, you will see air vents on the chimney, that's where the air gets released in terms of effectiveness, i have only heard of Fujioh one being effective the downside is that designs are not pleasing to the eye to test suction power: for Fujioh, go to Hoe Kee at IMM for Rinnai / Ellane / Turbo, go to CityGas gallery at Somerset for Brandt / Bosch, go to Rina Electrical at Lido building
  8. why not LG? the 47in LE5500 is going for $2,399 (at the Maximum Credit Co. booth) and $2,599 (at HN booth) cheapest for the kind of specs and size i did not buy as LG was not on my radar previously could you share the cons of LG?
  9. Sitex running a lot of hourly specials for these sizes; though I'm not sure if it is actually cheaper than store I looking for 46in; waited 2 hours also dun have You have plenty of choices if you looking for 32in to 42in By the way, Sharp has no booth there There's Samsung, LG, Sony, Toshiba, Palladine
  10. promotion is $700+ for heater plus dryer check out citygas website
  11. Hi, any updates? i am also thinking of buying this but every shop i asked says cannot install rain shower
  12. yah I was very impressed with the functions however it does not really fit into a tall cabinet and design is somewhat quirky with a vent on top to release the steam the closest i found with similar functionality and size was the Bosch steam combi and Miele but i think it could be too much to pay for such a small cavity
  13. Hmmm... I remember seeing it... If not mistaken, I think such a combo will result in a fair degree of function overlap Not to mention probably increase total cost by 15 to 20% I'll check the specs again
  14. another item that underwent "rigorous" window shopping Bosch WAS 28444 my dream machine, made in Germany $1,399 at Everjoint with standard free Bosch vacuum (you should get this whoever you buy this item from, it's given by Bosch) due to budget busted think may settle for LG F1422TD made in Korea $999 at Best, Harvey, Mega discount at a 40% price premium, unless I see an 8kg front load made in Europe close to $1,000, think it's LG for me think Korea is no less reliable than Thailand
  15. Went to Teka today.. oven was my most researched item as i neither own 1 now nor used 1 previously Had checked Miele (way way too expensive) Brandt (affordable, made in France) Bosch (more expensive than Brandt for same specs; made in Germany; better built quality) Finally went Teka today and I think I am set TEKA TMW 22 BI beauty is in it's simplicity to pair with TEKA HE 635 again simple with 8 cooking functions and digital timer build quality better than Brandt with pricing in Brandt's range
  16. Hi Kitchen Matters and all, anyone have any comments on Brandt ME655XG? It's a combi oven
  17. XZQT has really nice extendable tables A wide range too.. compared to all the other shops I have been to However, it is also fairly pricey in the range of $2K to $3K But I must say their build quality is also better
  18. Same block! Finally a neighbor But my keys only collect 2 dec Aron quoted me $3800+ for mitsubishi inverter system 4
  19. I think if less than 8kg, all are made in Thailand For 8kg and above, Bosch should be Germany and Electrolux is Spain I think Electrolux has a new model in HN; 8kg but made in Thailand. You can tell from the price difference I think it's EWF 1482 I think when asking which is better, you will get different responses at different shops Even within HN or Best, going on different days to the same store will yield different recommendations I know cos I have been going to the same few HN and Best the last few weeks Often, you will not know if the salesman were advising in your interest or in his interest
  20. Guys, just to share just sent an email to aron for quote responded within an hour, very prompt his email aronputt@gmail.com
  21. Thanks.. seems only slightly larger at 39L no pricing though I see something like US$3,000 being mentioned.. which 2 did you settle for?? i am thinking of the Brandt FE811XS1 / FV800XS1 combo the price of both combined is about the same as the Bosch HBC36D753B
  22. Hi everybody, finally went thru all 12 pages of this thread could not seem to find the info I want I am looking for an oven with steam function something like Bosch HBC36D753B however, does anybody know if there is one with same functions but bigger cavity?? any advise appreciated thanks
  23. Hi, I interested in Bosch HBC36D753B retail $2,799 Harvey Norman having 9th anniversary at Millenia, last day tomorrow can potentially get 11% discount problem is last day tomorrow things i want to buy are in my signature delivery no later than CNY 2011
  24. Samsung UA46C6900 (lowest price so far was $2,499 at Best Denki sale; hopefully Sitex offers a lower price Mitsubishi MR-F62X (at least 500 litres and no wider than 800mm; not our first choice but 1 of only 3 that meets our criteria) Philips HTS-6120 (bought $599 at Philips Carnival sale) Sharp Healsio AX-1500V (know nothing about ovens but using this as a reference for features; appreciate any recommendations in this area.. ) Electrolux EWF 1481 (was $1,099 at harvey norman warehouse sale over weekend but did not buy!! now $1,399 )
  25. meantime... recap on how to post pictures.. Ellane EH-2688 (would have loved a Fujioh hood but the design was just unacceptable) Ellane EGH-28 (not yet bought but almost certainly confirmed due to hood)
