This sounds like engaging a freelance ID. For the 1 space planning, does it mean that only 1 space planning is done and no changes are allowed? and the 5 3D perspective drawings, is it just showing 5 drawings from different perspectives or up to 5 changes? If limited to only 5 drawings, it might be a slight challenge. I personally will prefer minimum 2 perspective for each room to capture everything. So if you break it down, it'll be like: Living room x 2 Dining area x 2 Kitchen x 2 Service Balcony (if doing anything there) x 2 Common Toilet x 2 Master Bedroom toilet x 2 Master bedroom x 2 Bedroom 1 x 2 Bedroom 2 x 2 That's about 18 drawings for modern day 4 room or 5 room.

Vinyl is definitely waterproof because it's well, plastic. And plastic being plastic, it's not scratch resistance. it's quite different between vinyl board and laminate board. Vinyl board is very thin. So I doubt they switch it out. It's up to you to decide what will work for you though. i personally will not go for vinyl flooring for the same reason symphony had pointed out. Laminate flooring is made of HDF board which is generally wood fibre. Thus, it will swell when it gets liquid seeping in from spills. I don't believe those "display" that the companies show during expo and such, with their boards soaked in water and all.

do a search around and you will find your answer about PD doors. I hope they had improved their customer service though.

Ask them to test the scratch resistance of vinyl flooring right in front of you. From what I've read and seen, vinyl flooring do not even hold up close to the level of laminate flooring in terms of scratch resistance. You will be in for a surprise. also ,put it this way, they know we do our homework. So if the person is not keen to seal the deal, the price will remain as it is.

Hi clouds00007, Would you like to consider tiles that looks like wood from White Horse or vinyl flooring? Both of them are able to provide what you are looking for and they will not be that easily damaged by water. The issue with kitchen is that it is a place that is highly possible for water to leak and from what I know, kitchens with wood-finishing are usually using vinyl or ceramic tiles with wood texture. If you still feel like going for laminate flooring in the kitchen, a suggestion is to use laminates with groove lines so that even if it swells by only a little, it will not be that obvious. My personal point of view is to use either tiles or vinyl flooring for more convenience.

Hi diva79, unfortunately, CASE is not going to be effective for angrybirds' case or even mine. The disappointing thing which I believe angrybirds is also facing, is that there are loopholes in our jurisdiction system and to sue will be generally a "rich" person's game as it requires a relatively huge amount of money to take legal actions against these people who are out to cheat and scam. The part that is really disgusting to me is that such people will not get criminal charges against them as they are using the characteristics of that a company, no matter limited liability or sole proprietorship, is a separate legal entity. In other words, the company is like a separate person that is responsible to you when you engage them, not their owners. So we as consumers, we are on the losing end because we have unlimited liability and we are engaging them as an individual but for those rouge IDs and Contractors, they can hide behind their companies since they are using the companies to enter into a contract with us. As a result, these owners who have the intention to scam or cheat, they are not liable directly unless we are able to prove a case to lift the corporate veil and go after these people instead of their companies.

Contractor Run Away
potat0 replied to 78Degrees's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
From what I have gathered so far and meeting up with main contractors, that is not the usual practice. If you read around here, what I gathered matches what most of the folks here experienced. It's usually the following process: 5-10% downpayment on quoted price upon signing contract with ID/contractor Payment up to 40% on quoted price when materials are being delivered to your place and work is going to start. Payment up to 80% on quoted price when work is completed halfway. Payment up to 90% on quoted price when work is completed and keys hand back to you. The remainder 10% will be payable when you stay in your place in about 2 weeks to 1 month period, having rectified any defects and such. If still have outstanding defects, withhold until all is completed and satisfied, then the final payment is made. The above payment process is not the usual practice if you engage sub contractors yourself though. -
Kronotex Or Supreme For Flooring
potat0 replied to jazzblue's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hello, I'm looking for owners who installed Kronotex Mammut or Amazone series. If you had installed either one of those series from Kronotex, care to give me some reviews of your experience with the product? I'm trying to decide which I should go for. Thanks. -
Hi jojo, I get what you mean as I am also planning to do the same for my new flat. However, for me, i am taking a slightly different approach to have a little concrete wall on the top to be used to mount a cabinet or just to cover the "chimney" for the hood. What is your concern about tempered glass backsplash? IMO, I won't suggest having a sliding window because of 2 reasons: 1. I believe that your sliding window will have frame and there will be rubber to hold on to the sliding window panels. Heat and rubber are not best friends. It will cause the rubber to harden. 2. There will be sliding tracks and having it near a cooking area, oil residual is definitely going to be trapped in the tracks and that will be difficult to clean. Just my thoughts. I'm still trying to find out if it will be ok to do tempered glass for that area as I am concerned of the heat. But then, looking at those foodstalls with tempered glass kitchen, it might not be an issue if the right material is chosen. The immediate drawback I can think of is that this will require almost immediate cleaning to maintain a good look after every cooking session.

Borrow your thread to bring awareness to ID firms and individuals as well. Andy Yeo Boon Heng, ex-employee of Grupp Marketing Pte Ltd and partner/owner of Y & C Resources that provides QuickStep Laminate Flooring, is currently on the run. He collected my deposit and now he is uncontactable. His ex-partner and other sources had confirmed he had skipped town. Any IDs or individuals who engaged him to do laminate floorings, please pm me if you had made a police report. I will share with you my police report number and I/O for us to link our cases together. Quick-step Laminate Flooring
potat0 replied to khengjoo's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hi Khengjoo, no problem. I spoke to Woodculture as well. Unfortunately, they are not able to support my request as it's a small project. From what I was told, they do deliver Quick-Step if requested by customer but only economical to do so for big scale projects. Can't blame them. Met up with them about Berry Floors before. Wasn't impressed and the price was about the same as what was quoted for me for Quick-Step. I've lodge a police report actually and was encouraging Grupp Marketing Pte Ltd to do so as well since they shared with me that Andy Yeo also owed them money. Tried to create a topic at Renovation Firms and Works to bring awareness about Y & C Resources last evening but I think the topic was either still in the midst of being approved or it's been rejected. I still hope to find someone who can do Quick-Step flooring for me but now, it really looks impossible. I wonder what would be similar quality in the market though. Hopefully, Quick-Step will be able to find a good dealer soon. Just in case folks who are looking for Quick-Step is not aware. Quick-Step is a product from Unilin Group. -

Hi angrybird, Just to check with you, on the Police side, are they doing anything? I myself just got scammed by a laminate floor salesperson. Now i'm wondering if it's worth it for me to continue to do the "detective" work. I'm under the impression that if the amount is not like million of dollars or if you are not an elite, such scammers will still live to scam. For my case, the scammer is currently confirmed skip town and last known location is Malaysia.

Quick-step Laminate Flooring
potat0 replied to khengjoo's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Thanks PuffDog. I'm still hoping to get Quick-Step for my home. Quick-Step's local office recommended to check with Woodculture for my case while they look for a new dealer. The last time I checked during March 2012 exhibition at Expo, Woodculture was promoting Berry Floors though. For now, I'm taking a break away from finding a flooring contractor as this incident had caused me to be super skeptical when dealing with any contractors. Need some time to calm down and be normal again. Really can't believe how the chain of events unfold from all the information I had gotten so far. Can't imagine how many people was scammed for Andy Yeo Boon Heng to skip town. -

At the same time, I had contacted Quick-Step to learn that Grupp Marketing Pte Ltd is no longer a dealer for Quick-Step since March 2012. It's just unfortunate that I contacted Andy Yeo Boon Heng at the end of March, where he was supposedly still a Grupp Marketing Pte Ltd's salesperson. -

Gotten information that a number of contractors and customers had fallen victim to this person, Andy Yeo Boon Heng, who was an ex-employee of Grupp Marketing Pte Ltd. If you need his NRIC number to verify, please PM me. If you have any outstanding deals with him, please go and make a police report. -

Do you have a company or brand to recommend? from what I see here, almost every known brand and its distributors have it's fair share of positive and negative qualities, as well as their staff. -
Quick-step Laminate Flooring
potat0 replied to khengjoo's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
I wonder if there are any others who signed up with Y & C Resources. Now is back to the drawing board to for reliable companies and alternative laminate flooring that have similar colours of what we are looking for. An expensive lesson learnt and I really hope our Police will be efficient to investigate the case. -
Quick-step Laminate Flooring

Terrain1976, After speaking more to Grupp Marketing, I think I can safely said I got scammed already by their ex-employee. I believe the salesperson that attended to you was Andy Yeo. I have also informed forumers who shared the contact with me and whom I had shared the contact with that this is most likely a scam if they engaged Andy recently. I paid a slightly higher than 40% deposit because he told me that is the company's practice to help keep and reserve the stock for me. After hearing your case, I think I will forgo getting Quick-Step flooring. I even chose the colour and was told it was available. I should have not gone ahead when I saw that their Singapore's website was "hacked". What a waste, a good product that is going down the drain and will no longer be available in Singapore unless someone else takes up the distributorship. -
Quick-step Laminate Flooring

Just to share with anyone who is still looking for Quick-Step Flooring. You might want to engage them directly through the distributor, Grupp Marketing Pte Ltd instead of a particular company called Y & C Resources. After looking through here and gotten good reviews from forumers here, I thought I found a reliable person to deal with for Quick-Step Flooring. Signed the quotation with their contractor, Y & C Resources, which was highlighted here that the company was registered late 2011 but went ahead because the salesperson (let's call him A) presented his business card, indicating that he is working with Grupp Marketing Pte Ltd, who is the distributor of Quick-Step. I was introduced to another person (Let's call him C), as the contractor who will be doing this deal. Sounds really legit that a salesperson A from the distributor company, introducing me to deal direct with their contractor, C. When I make payment, A gave me a printed invoice, indicating the deposit amount paid but it was not signed or stamped by Y & C Resources. I should have held back then but I trusted A and paid in cheque as he promised that he will follow up with a signed copy. Long story short, A had failed to meet me and pass me the signed invoice. When I asked it to be mailed out, he did not do so. Eventually, when I contacted C, I was told that C is no longer taking on the project and all of their Quick-step flooring project had been passed back to A to get the supplier to fulfill the order. Then I called Grupp Marketing Pte Ltd, the horror unfold when they told me A had left their company almost 2 months ago. There was not information of my project being passed back to them to be fulfilled and they will not be able to fulfill it because the deposit was paid to Y & C Resources. Now I will have to go through legal means to get back my deposit. -
