seriously until this time, I am still not quite comfortable with the Master room laminates... i dunno y... but my carpenter says today is the dateline, no more changing liao!!! *scratch head* any comments for me ??

Choosing laminates is the worst part in the renovation process for me.. because, once choose wrong, u got to live with it for many many years (unless got money to change..haha..) Have to decide what theme you want and then from there choose the laminates.. still it is not easy.. cus got to match table top lah, kitchen top lah, lightings lah..... soooooo mannnyyyy .... if u ask me what is my theme, we wanted modern resort feel.. but at the look of my laminates, it is quite rojak already...hahahahahaha

My reno is almost coming to an end as my carpentry will be out around next week or the week after... It was not an easy task to plan out the carpentry works and selecting the laminates... I have a liking for wood like laminates and that makes me even tougher to select. Do note that the laminates in the catalog is simply too small piece. For this reason, I decided to go down to the laminate factory to take a look at the bigger piece, below is to share my experience: 1) EDL - they can give you A4 size laminates samples from their office 2) Seng Lee - they can let you view the A4 size laminates samples from their office 3) LamiTAK - they actually let me go into their warehouse and view the actual BIG piece of laminate! Actually I didn't request EDL or SENGLEE to let me view the actual big piece of laminates.. but I guess it can also be done if one request... Conclusion: Most of the laminates looks better than the catalog! But, BEWARE, some that appears to be dark colour in the catalog turn out to be not so dark, the feel is totally OFF! Do note, this only applies to mostly wood feel laminates and not solid colours.. Cus i don't have solid colours for my carpentry so I can't comment.

Here's a glimpse of the LED lighting effect in one of the common bedroom: i reckon if the walls were white, it would be even more brighter.... because of the odd corners in this room, i installed 7 sets of LED, each set comes with 3 MR16 bulb, each bulb is 3w. total power consumptions when all LED lights are on: 63watts if i were to use normal downlight: 182watts (if i use 13watts tubex2x7points) or 224watts (if i use 16 watts tubex2x7points)

hi matchgirl i hear your frustrations... i also encounter the same thing but the only console i can tell myself is, uncle give me alot of discounts... u are very kind to bring food n drinks down to the worker... for me, i hardly have the time to do so... hows ur house progress... was so busy choosing laminates!!!!!! u doing any carpentry?

actually drawing not very nice is still ok... most impt thing is the carpenter can give practical advise (mus be experienced enuff) and workmanship is good... mine carpenter drawing also not very fantastic, but talk to him find him very experience and vvv patient... so now only wait for his final work and see his workmanship

wind78, cheater is not a nice word to use. if he is, he is a criminial already... yes i was delayed too, nobody likes to be delayed. but, in the end, things are still done... yes, delay already comes in the package when we engaged him... how about the discount we get from him? i change n change my ceiling works at least 3 times, he also let me change and did not charge me anything. ..we all talk about the delays but we didn't want to talk abt the good things we receive from him... i m not saying he is perfect, but at least i know there always be time he is accomdating to us, do not charge us, & give us free things... just that now uncle works is abit stuck due to his HDB project in sengkang... but he promise, this is going to be resolve very soon... there are still quite a number of house that are HO despite due to his problem over at sengkang...

hi, yes, alot of ID talk very smart, comes to real work, alot of 'taichi'.. anyway, ID comes with a price, better to shortlist someone who is very knowledgeable -- ask them more technical questions and see if they can answer..? i approach some many IDS, i realize alot of them, technical knowledge is poor. when this happens, end up, alot of things may need to change or add due to the overlook on the technical aspects.. then one will be stuck in the situation whereby, 'dun pay also cannot' kind of situation i was quite surprised that we, houseowners, are also repsonsible to ensure that the contractors work is within HDB guidelines! i hope u find ur ideal ID soon and have a smooth journey!

actually this one blade fan, is for nice only, the wind not so strong... if i remember correctly, elmark sell around $1200-1500 in jb, u can get it around RM$1800 (if i remember correctly) ... in fact, elmark headquarter is in m'sia one...

fini n trev n jesslyn i also ask uncle when can HO, but hor, he keep quiet... haiz... now awaiting his confirmation with the carpenter to go ahead... if the deal doesn't go tru, i got to wait again... if the deal goes tru, high chance u alll will be the same carpenter as mine... this new one is call AH HOE...err... very uncle type one de... haha...but he gives very good n practical advises... can say, he is very experienced type one....
