  1. Give some poison, can check the good range of knives from http://www.razorsharp.com.sg/Knife_Index.htm For pots and pans, initially I used teflon but moved away from that since it might release unhealthy molecules. Now, i'm using greenpan, the other variety of non-stick. I also have a stainlees steel plan. For all to be non-stick, the key is the heat. You need to get the pan to the "correct" heat then you put the oil. By then, your pan would be non-stick. How to get to correct heat? Get a water droplet dancing on ur pan. The water won't even evaporate. If it's not hot enough, the water won't be come like a "ball" or droplet shape. If it's too hot, the water would immediately evaporate. There's some URL abt this on the net (I can't find it anymore). By saying so much, my favourite pan is still my cast iron pan The best of the class and can pass it on to the next generations (that's how good the pan is)
  2. Can't remember much, I turned off my ears when I heard the price ... At most is basic cleaning + ironing. I have checked the cleaning auntie in my office, but she stayed very far and abit "noisy" so not so keen
  3. Still don't have yet ... I called one, quoted me $70 for 4 hour for 1x/mth or 2x/mth. Very expensive ... And I still have to pay 1x fee somemore ...
  4. Hi .. do you find the solution for your part-time maid alerady?
  5. Don't get the knife block bah ... to many unused knives. Not useful. If you're keen, you can go to sunrise academy. I have a friend who enrolled to such class.
  6. The windchimes really look much nicer. Maybe I should do the same for mine
  7. Yes, the fire is really big. Though I don't think can compare with those chinese restaurant stove. Those are on different level. Definitely it would help on make the wok/pan to heat up. But don't expect to cut down the gas usage. Cooking time depends on what you cook right? If you are cooking with low-fire in longer period, it doesn't matter whether your fire is big or not.
  8. Yes, its center holes are bigger but that's where the fire come from right? What's the probability your item/food would fall there? Well ... it might cause a concern if you leave it for 1 or 2 hours because the wind might blow the fire off while the gas is still on. If you do this kind of cooking often, better get the one with safety valve. For me, I have slow cooker for this type of food
  9. Personally, I would take the inner flame because I love the strong fire. The safety valve is indeed important but that is only if you leave your stove unattended. If you keep attend to the stove, it doens't matter right?
  10. Nice place ... I love your spice rack and dining table
  11. Anyone know whether I can download all those cooking shows ? Actually, I want to brush up my cooking and learn from start, like how to use the knives properly, and other standard things.
  12. Well .. D is a bit quirky but he delivers I sms-ed him on Thursday(?) to ask whether I can collect on Saturday. He nvr replied, then I also forgot abt it. Then Sat afternoon, he sms-ed me that I can collect the sideboard. I quickly called my mover and swing over to his shop, met his son and collected the sideboard. Luckily, my mover was available, otherwise, I had to wait til next week.
  13. Bro ... can also explain the Solar July and Lunar July ? I can't reach chinese, how to read all those books? Though I hope one day I can start to read those ... now still brushing up my chiense
  14. It does ... Initially my wife was skeptical for the high cost of the varnish (compared to the price of the sideboard). But now, there's no regret :D
  15. I assume her solid wood chair is very very valuable, possibly a custom made from a very good teak wood. Buying a new set to replace them woudl cost a bomb. Hence, she upholstered it. But like you said, if your bed frame is a standard bedframe frm normal shop, u can consider buying new one.
  16. Get a professional mover and go to the various shops to haul them at same time. I paid $50 for 1 way to delivery of my sideboard. It's being done by 1 person.
  17. Haha ... true Usually my heavy stuff are: - Books - Audio CD (with complete packaging), leaving them in store room after rip them to mp3. I saw your quotation of your racks. Where did you get it from? Mind give me to contacts and also any pics of your racks?
  18. It's her old table and she got it to be varnished. The dining chairs really look so nice ..
  19. Bepgof, any reason why it has to be solid and can't be hollow? Nowadays, there are so many "amazing stories" like windchimes that can break negative energy but there's not much "logic" behind it. It's good to follow fengshui that seems non-sense but do make sense.
  20. Where did you buy it from? Is it similar with mine minus the fishes?
  21. Mine has dolphins attached to it. I hope it can be used for fengshui. A windchime is a windchime right? At most, I remove the dolphin? Otherwise, where to find a "real" windchime with solid rods?
  22. My sideboard after varnishing, courtesy of Umaisairah. It's beautiful ..
  23. You might need some "home server" + GSM Modem (to send out sms). No simple solution, have to do many DIY.
  24. I don't think the locksmith would just dismantle the lock open and replace with new one. For this, you can just use any drill to dismantle the lock
  25. I am looking for knives that can be passed down to the next generations Btw, don't waste the money to buy 1 set of knives. In kitchen, you can survive with just: 1 Chef's knife 1 Utility knife. 1 time investment so can last for years ..
