We are not likely to cook very much so the kitchen is more for show . Initially, we wanted to configure the space near bathroom 2 into a service balcony. Then our ID propose a layout similar to your suggestion above with an open kitchen concept. But along the way we decided to construct a maid's room and since the space near bathroom 2 has to be reserved for drying clothes, we settle with the current design.

Hi welcome . To upload photos, follow the instructions here. Need to open an account at photobucket and upload your photos there first. Happy reno .

Thanks for the advice . We haven't thought about it yet. We are indeed short of working space in the kitchen and our ID has told us to get as small a hob as possible. Will discuss this with him before the renovation starts.

Yes, I will post the pics after everything is done. Meanwhile can only patiently wait for the renovation to start. For the fountain, I am not so worried about the electricity or maintenance. I am more worried about its stability (or lack of). It is slim and tall and very heavy. If it falls, I will have to redo my living room flooring .

Yes, we first saw it at Taka, but in the end we bought it at Central because we do not have Taka membership .

Hi all, we have selected our tiles a few days ago. As I forgot to bring the 3D drawings, and my ID too, I have the freedom to change the colour scheme of the MBR toilet. I roughly remember that the 3D drawing uses black and white tiles, but when I saw the marble-like wall tiles of the 'showtoilet' at the tiles shop, I decided to go for it instead of using the black and white theme. Our ID has also given us the renovation schedule. Hacking will start on 9 Feb, one day after the second appointment. We are counting down each day towards it . Here is the fountain we have ordered (the twin dancers). Cost $675 after 10% credit card discount: My wife and my ID both like it, but I think there is too little water.

I think so too. I copy the red and white colour from supersimon . We met our ID Kennedy yesterday to finalise the tiles and laminates. For bedroom 3, we are also considering laminates of the same pattern but change the colours to black and white for stronger contrast. It seems that quite a forumers like the original colour combination proposed by the ID. Maybe I will put up the new 3D pics once Kennedy email it to me for everyone to comment and vote.

Thanks. I told my ID that the pictures I saw in this forum - Supersimon's and Butterfingerzz's are all very nice but they say pictures can't tell or maybe they used spray paint rather than laminate. Now it seems that the outcome of glossy laminate is indeed very good and I should go for it .
-
Hi butter, In my recent meeting with my ID to select the laminate for kitchen cabinets, he told me that glossy white (in fact any glossy laminates) laminates will appear uneven under reflected light. Since your kitchen cabinets is glossy and light coloured, can I check if you have such problems?
-
Hi Simon, I like your kitchen very much. In fact, I showed my ID pictures of your kitchen and told him I want a similar colour scheme, but he told me that glossy laminates, glossy white in particular, will appear uneven under reflected light. May I check with you if you have this problem with your kitchen cabinets?

Hi, sorry but I am quite ignorant of this: Can we call up OpenNet to ask them to install while reno is in progress? I mean I checked their website and it seems that my flat will only be installed with OpenNet in 2012. Is it possible to ask them to install now?

Wow, valuation 595k! Must be one of those blocks opposite the MRT station? You bought it at 60k below valuation , supergood deal ! That's probably sufficient for your reno.

Welcome to Reno T-Blog . I like full-height windows ! Very classy. And the views from your windows are very nice (will be even nicer if the river water is blue) . Have you started looking for ID? Happy reno!

We upgraded the insulation to 1/2 inch but the copper pipe is gauge 23. The salesperson who served us advised us not to upgrade to gauge 22 because it is too thick and may break when bent. This is quite contradictory to his colleague at Marina Square who recommended the upgrade. What do you mean by insulation twice? Frankly I am very ignorant of air cons and it would be great if you can share your expertise . By the way, we went to All Best before we went to Gain City and the salesperson Bernard told us their pipe is Johnson Control etc and it is not ordinary copper pipe. I was very confused then because it looked like a copper pipe. I later found out from Gain City which is using 'ordinary' copper pipe that Johnson Control is just a brand. So is it necessary that the copper pipe must be 'Johnson Control' for better reliability?

We love it too. We got the idea while searching through the webpages of different ID firms for inspiration. Hope the actual construction will be as good as the 3D drawing.

Any Study Room Pics?

Hi welcome to T-blog . looking at the pictures of your old house I can understand why you can't bear to part with it. But I am sure your new house will be even nicer . By the way, since you want to install Tempered glass wall and door at study room, I attach a photo below for your reference. I came across this house when I was searching for my flat and it has the same layout as yours. I like this layout a lot because the bedrooms are separated from the living room and have a lot of privacy. Unfortunately the owners were asking for an unrealistic price. Happy Reno.

Welcome to renotalk, and happy reno . Your wife is an Interior Designer?

Hi CJREDDEVIL, Thanks for the compliments. We are also eagerly looking forward to start the reno in about a month's time. The view? Of course not real one lah . Tampines cannot have such high buildings since we are near the airport. I think the highest is probably only 13th or 14th floor. I will post the pictures of the current state of the house after I have gotten the keys because it is not so nice to do so now since the owners are still staying there .
-
Yes, that's the one. But strangely I find the things in evov significantly more expensive leh. I remember they were selling one simple balcony table/chairs set at about $2500. After that I know evov is not for me.
-
They are a new shop so probably don't have a website yet. They are located at ground floor of Balestier Point, beside the famous lightings shop lightings.com, both easily visible from Balestier Road.

Wah, better don't let my wife see this picture or I will surely go bankrupt .

Citrus Box Interior
SGK replied to jerms's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Hi AMK2009, We also approached Citrus Box during an expo exhibition in which we were served by an uncle who was previously a contractor. We did not hear from him again after the first meeting. Anyway I was quite worried when he proposed hacking so many walls unnecessarily. Just to check: are all your IDs from expo exhibition? That was what I did initially but luckily one of my colleagues who just renovated his house recommended his ID to us. It turns out that it is cheaper than all those expo IDs I spoke to. Another forumer also told me that the expo IDs tend to be more expensive. So do check around this forum for more choices. Happy reno. -
How come all husbands have the same fate ? My wife is always so excited when she sees those lamps with hundreds of crtstals dangling below and she never thinks of cleaning. And by the way, I still need her approval before I confirm on the hanging pendant.
-
Thanks for all the advices. Yes, since there are already cove lights and down lights at my dining area I think there is no need for a very bright lamp. My ID has a slight preference for the hanging pendant but I think he likes the pendant lamp as well .
