If u need to buy hood & stove from Mayer etc, can ask ur ID to give u a better price. My TIP ID got Mayer lobang, the price is ard S$100++ cheaper than what i get from Mayer directly for electrician, i quite satisifed w their contractor. Very knowledgeable cos im also laying cat 6 network cable in my house to prep for OpenNet and speakers cables for my HTS and the contractor has done a very good job and can even give me alternative suggestion in the laying of cables. I have go to quite a few famous ID recommended in Renotalk but so far TIP offer a complete solution for my network thingy. for carpentry, they do give me some discount in my kitchen & living room storage after i complain that it overshoot my budget so u need to discuss w the ID and act very broke

my reno juz completed so far nothing much to complain (except some minor issue but TIP solve it instantly) I would say my reno w TIP is quite a smooth one

last time i also thot TIP price quite high but end up it turn out almost the same as Intra Design(another popular ID firm in renotalk) quotation so i guess its all depend on what u wanna do for the reno

yap from initial discussions to 3D drawing oredi took almost 2 mths. I am quite fussy so change this change that and need quite alot of carpentry & wiring So far the ID from TIP has done a good job in accomodate my request. Actual reno will start after CNY which i guess is another 1.5mths b4 it complete My current impression w this ID is she is very on the ball. She was the one that always contact me instead of me looking for her. So far all my appointments with her went smoothly she also able to work within my budget and suggest alternatives solution/design But still need to see her performance during reno that y will give u more feedback after 2mths her name i think i will tell u after my reno complete cos wait later she also frequent this thread and will know i BK her bad things if there are any but my advise for u is must make sure u ask the ID to bring u to visit some of his past projects. In this way u can gauge the workmanship/relationship between the ID and the clients etc

my take on powerline is that currently may feel sufficient for the internet need but once opennet (our local optic fibre network service is up & running), then powerline not enuff liao Reason is powerline throughput cant even reach 100Mbps (i know some advertise saying can get 200Mbps) but trust me..cant achieve that kind of speed. Optic fibre is 1Gbps and if u subscribe to this optic fibre service in future, ur powerline will become the bottom neck so do think carefully which direction u wanna go my recommendation is for new house doing reno, lay cat5e or cat6 cable is the way to go cos both type of cable can reach 1Gbps and its will be futureproof secondly for powerline iif u using powerstrip w surge protector then ur powerline may not work. thirdly for houses built in the 2000s powerline shld work but those old houses which built 15yrs ago or more, it may not work cos i encounter a few frens living in tampines & pasir ris cant use powerline as the devices cant detect each other Some pple here talk abt wireless N for home network. Well wireless no matter N or G or B always got 1 big limitation. Signal Strength. The signal strength depend on a few factors like number of walls, number of signal interference etc. For wireless N, its new so signal interference from ur neighbours may be minimal but in 2-3yrs time hard to say when all u can find is wireless N router in the mkt. Not to mention wireless are prone to hacking. If one is careless and fail to secure ur wireless properly, it can easily invite intrusion and god know what the hacker will do to ur network So all in all...wired connection by laying cat5e or cat6 cable is still the best and recommended way for home network all re juz my opinions as an IT engineer myself

can only install by opennet contractor cos the fibre cable & termination point come from them if u doing reno now, u muz designate location for the termination box openet recommendation is the termination box best locate near a SCV point w 2 power socket However if u guys wire up the house (laying cat 5e or cat 6 cables in the house and terminate w network point), then u can put this opennet termination box near your network termination point (either in a closet or study room or storeroom) u can ask the contractors to lay a hidden conduit above the false ceiling from ur main door to whichever location u want for the opennet termination point. The conduit muz be a straight one or maybe bend abit and must come w a draw rope so that the opennet contractor can easily run the optic fibre cable thru it

One thing abt IntraDesign is that they re too popular and so very busy I rem i approach 1 of the ID there, even after the 4th meeting, she can still forget my new flat address and mix up the requirements with her other clients:p The design is not too bad and she even bring us to 1 of her clients flat to look @ workmanship However in e end i nvr choose her cos more "click" w my current ID

This thread is not simple There are fanboys of AS in it There are spies/secret agents of AS in it There are pple w hidden agenda in it There are pple who simply juz wanna watch free show and once in a while add oil/salt into it There are pple who are suffering under AS wrong doing One word of advice, all these victims shld juz gather together 1 fine day and determine the next course of action. If possible create a private forum to share info instead of using this thread. Last but not least, don't let AS off cos he may just try this trick on other pple
