im sure she will like it...she taught me about the industrial style...she will be very happy if i turn it into a factory! i think should be ok, i could sand and smoothen the edges, should not be a prob..

Ronald, aka Tiler Seng from Designer house? If so, tiling works are good, no worries de.

Went googling for furniture and i found that by googling for "tyre furniture", "pipe furniture", "pallet furniture" you do get some interesting results. Tyre coffee table, looks easy enough... would love to do 1! Plan to use clear acrylic instead of glass... Pallet shoe rack...i already picked up 2 pallets. i think this will make the whole place look very industrial...should probably paint it white... Pipe furniture gives you beds and racks made from pipes...so nice... first have to find out where to buy the pipes...

thats also like the standard height for kitchen cabinets.. maybe you are too tall...
-
wow...serious...? thats so ex...designer fans? got pics to share?

yes small can be cute, chic and looks just as nice... at first i thought u going to have a hobbit theme... *pengz*

apparantly baby and i do not have faith in hoods, the ones in our families is never used and life goes on..haha so we decided not to install first. baby is the chef so i asked baby about the oil smell since ours is open concept. she uses very little oil in cooking and does not use the wok to do heavy frying...so should be fine... we can still have the option of having a sliding glass/acrylic door later if the situation is bad. but now, everything is about budget.

hi reira, was looking at spotlight roller blinds as well, have you installed it yet? got pics?

this info is useful..my new house's compressor also mount on S/S bracket 1...have to take note of this.. not true that all sliding windows flood...my bed is beside the window in my current house. Never flooded before..

ohh we arrived at the current design after many thoughts and advices from people at Myhometown...many changes before we came to this carpentry supposed to be finished today... hope to take some more pics! thanks to my kiasu-ness, the ladder is able to fit into the tall cabinet..together with the broom... phew... (we have no store room) u going to use the same layout? good thing about old 3 room flats is that we can do gallery kitchen. my fridge would be roughly opposite my sink... the area between sink and hob is for preparation prior to cooking so that the golden triangle is there...

basin small and nice not good? hee...i tink ur basins look nice! height depends on the shortest person in the house..should be roughly around the person's waist level for comfort of use. ohhh u need to be there to try out the height mah...if not have to re-drill the hole and your tiles will have so many more holes.... ur order form would state the dimensions right? can counter check.

very simple la..to use diff colour font just use the "A" on the reply screen... my personal feel is kdk better, i would rarely use speed 3...would on the air con if its too hot...haha... all piping and wiring...hmmm wiring around 2k, pipes depends ba... for pvc sewage pipes if no corrosion, generally no need change... the pipes thingy is interesting...any idea where to get the raw materials..? i might want to try one bookshelf first before venturing further...heee

yeapz from the busy gain city.. gas pipes are fixed onto the wall and run across from the living room to kitchen. (see pic) my citygas heater is fixed beside the full height cabinets. The gas pipe will run from the bottom of the wall back to the rectangular hole (for hob). thats how the gas pipes are done up. As i do not have a hood, i am not sure how it works also. But i see that people's hood are fixed on the ceiling? should not interfere i guess?

pipes paint already will blend in well, no worries... painters will usually just paint the pipes as it is difficult to paint the kitchen without touching the pipe i must say the sofa is a very good buy! where you find the lobang...never share? wanted to try city gas dryer as well but decided to shelve it due to budget.. so will be using bamboo sticks for the time being...

yeap sitting on the cabinets now.. we plan to keep the stickers on till reno is done to prevent damage by workers.. at least those parts which does not require silicon... Outstanding works (in the following order): Install air con touch up painting and cleaning (DIY) spraying of kitchen and toilet installing bathroom accessories and shower screen installing kitchen basin, tap and hob laying of laminates for living and bed rooms install window grilles and main door Cleaning again and again and again.... earliest to complete based on my estimates is mid june. Can't wait for things to be done...its the air-con which is slowing down my progress...only can install on 22nd May...arghhh...

please see my KPO comments in green.. i must tell my parents that 3 roomers are increasingly getting popular! haha.... $20k enough or not also depends on the stuff you are doing (need more details) and the stuff you are buying (lights, hob, WC, basins, showers, hood, taps..etc) noticed that you also did not include main door and grilles..? Hacking of walls to create a new opening will cause some damage to the floor and since you are not doing your living room floor, there will be a patch there..you might want to consider it again.. many things to consider...since you have floor plan, can go around collecting quotations already!

haha, cos i also learnt about choo chiang's pricing thru this forum. i called up a few MK distributors to check and indeed choo chiang is the cheapest! Choo chiang have many outlets, sales staff there also very helpful (except for geylang one.. ) ohh ok my MK single switch is $0.90. All my switches and sockets are MK so i can't comment about other brands. yeap, save a bit here and there. It will add up. -

From Choo Chiang? i was looking at my invoice. Choo Chiang sells things slightly cheaper. Not much though. Here's my bill: MK White Single socket - $1.60 MK White Double socket - $3 SCV PVC Box 5" by 4" - $3.50 SCV splitter (one to two) - $3.50 2.5mm wires -$28.50 per 100m The other things i didn't buy. btw, 5A switch is for what? -
Very neat carpenters, i am amazed. All screws are sorted nicely: we managed to steal a shot of them at work! The guy on the floor is working hard to trim the full height cabinet to suit the uneven walls. They took it up and down so many times that i lost count.. The standing guy is the more experienced one, adjusting the drawers and making sure every thing is level. Borrowed the carpenter's measuring tape. Found out that it is actually a "feng shui" ruler! so interesting, then we went around measuring things for fun...haha! My first try at using putty to fill up a hole, looks hideous!

yeap, but it can be minimised using false ceiling only. there is wireless, i remember chancing on the website before. But decided against it, too high tech most likely means expensive and maintenance is an issue... actually i found out that lights use 3 pieces of 1.5mm wires, so in fact consumers can get the electrician to use the tinest casing for lights to minimise the impact... just that it gives the electrician a bigger headache in estimating materials..

Clementi PR, we also can't wait to tear it off...haha we have been visualising how the set up will look like. No 3D for us..only had our imagination...but we played it safe, using grey cabinet with stainless steel... cannot don't match right? Mickey, i doubt they will clean it la. He outsourced the making of the stainless steel top. So i don't think he will do it. But carpenter is a nice guy with helpers who take pride in their work. So give and take a bit, don't clean also ok...just make sure cabinets and runners are all working can already, thats more important.

Likewise i used post-it notes for convenience... but u must make sure you remember where the defects are...can take picture as a reference. If not when you paste too many, you might forget where the mistake was...haha yeahs i think no sub-con will hire you... their workers will all quit!
-
90% of the cabinets are done...very detailed workers and great effort in making the drawers align Stainless steel top is covered up with protective sticker, up close shot:

my relative's hse has one ceiling fan (close to ceiling type, no lights) and 2 hamburger lights in his living room. Light---Fan---Light No shadow at all. But it also means that he has 3 wire casings running across the living room ceiling, not everyone can accept it.

Carpenters were there to finish up the work. Stainless Steel top has arrived! we were siting at the void deck waiting for the carpenters and our eyes lit up immediately once we spotted them carrying the long awaited countertop! We practically stood there half a day to watch them work, trying to steal some knowledge of how to paste formica and how they adjusted the cabinets to suit the uneven wall and kitchen base. they were unable to finish up the work and have to come back on monday to do the finishing touches. Very good carpenters, they took note of details to ensure cabinet is level, testing out the handles and drawer runners, etc... Pictures to follow shortly as they are all in baby's camera.
