Hide-and-sneak Sales Tactic
marshmallow replied to neubie's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
this kind of thing was already happening before the "new" rule kicks in.... -
Hi, remember reading somewhere in renotalk... for carpentry, usually ABS trimming are done on doors so the edge will be smooth, while for the main frame, trimming won't be done so will still see the joining line - did you specify ABS trimming for carpentry in the quotation? as for ready-made one, usually don't have this same problem. hope this helps

hi all, please PM me your contacts as per dexufto instruction~ thanks! -
heh when baby comes, you'll appreciate the storeroom... my frens who don't have storeroom (their previous owners hacked the storerooms) all regreted not rebuilding it cos now they have no where to put all the baby stuff~ on the ventilation fan, i think (can't remember clearly) the rule in relation to ventilation fan is the one that says things cannot pertrude out of the wall facade or something like that... so only a certain type of ventilation fan can be used. also, need to buffer enough time for HDB approval cos it might take quite long. you need to check with your window contractor on details. anyway, just to share my discussion with window contractor: usually, toilet windows are already not so big. in order to put in the ventilation fan, you have to seal up part of the window, which effectively reduces your windows opening. for a small ventilation fan, diameter is already ~150mm (6-in), plus the clearance on both sides of the fan and the window frame, you will lose quite a bit of window opening. small fan suction is so-so only, in this case, you might be better off without the fan - just open the windows fully and blow with standing fan my $0.02... for your consideration

sigh, something you gotta live with esp. if your HDB is the old one... i supposed Sims Drive should be at least 20 years old, rite? i also never notice about their "good" workmanship until i started renovating my own home....... is your WC those water saving type? the more "water saving" it is, the harder to flush stuff away...

yup, top and bottom cabinets are counted separately. so if top = 20 ft in length and bottom = 20 ft in length, final will be 40 ft run. say if the contractor charges $100 per foot run, then the cost for this top and bottom cabinets is 40 x $100 = $4000. hope this helps

i'm impressed by the number of posts and the amount of research done by csingeu... some more part-time studying... win liao LOL i did the same... always camping at Jurong East Library~ and hor, there were pple that just tore out the pages they wanted and left the magazines back in the rack. really terrible! it's better to space out the big events nia... i moved into my new home just 5 days before wedding. almost died~ so tiring!!

i think can la... you don't look so fat mah~ quite a number of forumers used the LACK shelf as seats. i guess you can do it without legs~ i initially wanted to use a LACK or EXPEDIT for shoe rack + seat too, but dropped the idea cos i felt it can't hold many shoes..... it's good and practical to have the store room... keep the junks out of sight i think ventilation fan is not allowed for HDB?

and... the final product sorry didn't take any pics after we cut the cake into small squares... the cutting was really bad and we were busy eating Some notes and comments: 1) i made some slight changes to the original recipe - the recipe called for a pan with size 9"x13"x2", but my baking pan not so big... so i reduced the size to 8"x12"x2". As a result, everything in the recipe was reduced by the same ratio. 2) i accidentally spilled some vanilla extract into the mixing bowl (oops.) i *think* i added more than what was instructed in the recipe... Thank God vanilla extract tastes and smells good! 3) Hubby commented that the crust can be thicker, i agreed with this... but i noted that the problem lies in me not able to spread the crust evenly on the pan - experts, how do you do this step properly? 4) Another spreading question: how to spread the cream cheese nicely over the crust? - experts, please help again~! 5) i think i need a proper mixing bowl - as you can see, i m using a rice-cooker pot for mixing... good thing is it has non-stick coating hahaha 6) breaking the digestive biscuit into small fine grains took me a really LONG time... i think next time, i should throw all biscuits into a ziplock bag, hammer them into small bits and then pour out or is there any proper method to break the biscuits? again, experts please help !! okie that's all for now

i finally tried baking over the weekend... very simple one though after looking through the recipes, decided to try this cheese cake squares cos it seems to be the easiest (recipe supplied by Angel81 here) went to Daiso on Friday to get some basic baking stuff... don't wanna invest too much yet until i really get serious about baking kitchen scale and spatula. there is no indication on the colour of the scale on the box, so i just randomly picked one... dunno if i will get the green one? in the end... i got a transparent (with slight grey) one~ okie la neutral colour that matches with almost any kitchen~ Clockwise from top left: 1) crust made from digestive biscuit - just out from oven 2) poured cream cheese mixture on crust... it's so difficult to spread them out evenly~ and i sort of gave up the top right hand corner of the cake cos I BROKE the crust while spreading the cheese over it...... 3) the aftermath... well i come from a very strict traditional Chinese family, where it's a sin to waste any foodstuff~ i've never had a single grain of rice left in my bowl after meal... so i was kinda annoyed by this sight~ (btw, i managed to scope out a little more cheese after taking this photo, but still.... hahaha ) 4) Baking in progress... it smelt GREAT!

okie... my guess is, the HDB wall is not straight (there must be at least one or 2 main walls original from HDB right??!) so if that main wall is not straight, then your new wall will be affected. Say for example (okie i'm thinking aloud): --------------------------- Wall A | Wall B Wall B Wall B | | Wall B Wall B Wall B | | Wall B Wall B Wall B | | Wall B Wall B Wall B | Wall C Say, Wall A is from HDB and it's slanted, when you make new wall, you will take it perpendicular from Wall A right? So your Wall B will be slanted la... and if your Wall C is from HDB, chances are, it will be slanted too, it's really difficult to get all your laminates aligned swee swee. just speaking from experience cos NONE of my walls are straight (in fact, they are supposed curved at R=10000, according to HDB floor plan). So all my reference points go haywire

hey reglxt, you can try this blog from a fellow forumer (see below). she has a number of recipes there http://www.mybakingrecipes.blogspot.com/

no mah... they won't come to your house and count how many electrical points you have they are more concern about the rating of the electrical appliances you are using and so they set rules on this
-
