  1. it really depends very much on individual needs and preference. i definitely need slippers cos i'm very accident-prone and slip easily ... slipped a few times at the shower area (w/o slippers) at my previous place...
  2. yea i also didn't know until i asked the young painter why they changed the paint can for me. hahaha... I'm sure the paint was correct cos i was present when painting was done but i do get a feeling that contractors do little investigation when receive complaints like wrong paint - probably too rampant in the industry - they just do re-painting for you and get the complaint done over with.
  3. LOL that's how i became your "friend". heehee
  4. haha busy with your babies (Jaden and camera)?? kekeke. I haven't had chance to use my air-con yet - never expect the ceiling fan can be soooo cold................
  5. Photos continued - common toilet Before: Not as yucky as the MBR toilet, but still bad......... After : love the cheerful-looking tiles~ most of my guests prefer this to my MBR toilet! hahaha The other side of the common toilet, and my Mistral instant heater. For both toilets, due to the odd layout of the WC, pipes etc, shower screens cannot be installed.............. Henry kept suggesting that we should consider a glass panel for the MBR toilet, besides to prevent things on towel rails to get wet, he said "your MBR toilet looks so classy, got rain shower some more... if you put shower curtain, wasted all the effort la..."
  6. Haha you're welcome you can take a look at the link dexufto provided above, and visit a few more shops in Jalan Besar... no harm comparing prices from more places
  7. can one... if you and your gang of friends go and mess up his place..... steamboat anyone?
  8. hey bro, long time no talk... enjoying your new aircon?
  9. LOL yea indeed... when i asked my friends, it's either they had bad experience with their contractors/ID, or it's simply too expensive for us ... maybe i have rich friends~ if you are not in a hurry to move in, maybe you can spend more time in detail planning before starting reno.... haha yea i enjoy reading t-blogs too, so interesting to see all the transformation of homes~!
  10. hmmm it may sound bad but i'm actually looking forward to see how bad it is... haha because it can't get worse than original condition? LOL
  11. wah i pity the seller agent... have to endure nonsense from this kind of pple and dun get the $$ he should earn... sigh.
  12. well bro, frustrated it was, you finally got your keys... CONGRATS!!! no more badminton patterns from her from now on i read about something like your case before... seller left everything behind... think in the end the buyer got town council to clear for $200+ or something and the claim the $$ back from seller...
  13. LOL... the conduit in false ceiling and stuff are done by your reno ID/contractor... not Opennet... they are not so "advanced" just simply run trunking for you only lor.... mine will be installed tomorrow. In the end, me and hubby still decided to run trunking along skirting instead of getting through the L-box... sigh.
  14. Welcome to RT~ actually hor, sometimes even for local SGreans, it's not easy to get referral from friends and relatives... that's why all ended up in Renotalk Good luck for your reno journey~
  15. my previous place also dun have both fridge and washing machine bases. but, you can consider a washing machine base if you wanna hide the drainage pipe for the washing machine.... just make a larger base to ensure that you have ample space to accomodate a bigger washing machine in future~
  16. Ikea wardrobe - got both good and bad comments. the one at my previous home was with me for 8 yrs with no issues. I guess it depends very much on how you use it... You can check out another thread on Ikea, some pple mentioned they dismantled and re-assembled their Ikea wardrobes at new home with no prob....
  17. anyway, found out something when chatting with the young painter (while waiting for the paint to come). while painting walls, they will normally get bigger cans of paint that is enough for use. After painting, it doesn't make sense to keep the leftover paint in such a big container. So they will get spare cans that are smaller to store the paint. However, very often these spare cans are the Maxilite paint cans becos this is the most commonly found spare cans from the painting companies. In this case, then how do you know what paints are stored inside these sapre Maxilite paint cans? Usually the painters will: 1) Draw a dot on the cover of the spare can with the stored colour to indicate the actual stored paint (most common) 2) or take out the label from the original can and paste on the spare can. 3) or do all of the above. None of us would want to be cheated by contractors to use the cheap Maxilite paint in place of the better quality ones we paid for, however, the paints sitting inside the Maxilite cans could actually be the correct paint (Dulux All, Nippon... whatsoever). We also should get our facts correct before confronting the contractor. To ensure your contractor used the correct paints, it's easier and more accurate to check the cans before and during painting. Noob Lesson 2: Don't get too worked up and immediately accused yourcontractor/painter for cheating with cheap paints when you see the Maxilite cans being left behind. Investigate and confirm if they are not simply spare cans to store paint, before firing your contractor/painter with your powerful AK47
  18. The Paint Story - Part II (continued from here) So, as i was saying... the painter totally forgot to rectify the errors: We urged Henry to complete the painting ASAP cos our book shelves were coming in (the shelves occupies the wall with Marina Blue paint). Just a day before book shelves delivery, a painter came... young chap from Malaysia But the problem is the paint wasn't here! This young painter kept calling his boss to bring the paint over.... about an hour later, the boss finally came, put down the paint and left. when we opened the paint can, we were SHOCKED to see a pink colour......................... what happened was, instead of this Marina Blue (AL21004) the painter boss should get: He got this - AL24001 - Barely Pink: :bangwall: and it really didn't help that it was a Saturday evening, when all paint shops were already CLOSED................... Actually at the point when i saw the pink paint, i bursted out laughing - dunno why, somehow i thought it was really funny but the painter wasn't amused at all... he was so fed up that you could almost see the dark clouds and flames above his head~ LOL in the end, the painter only managed to correct the MBR wall paint and do some minor touch-up. book shelves came before the blue wall was painted and were forced to put at somewhere else first.... but nevermind, cos Henry promised to send some "muscle men" to help me move the shelves in place... hahaha Finally, when our bookshelves were delivered and being assembled at our home, the painter came. It was the painter's boss himself.... me: (surprised) "why you came personally to do the painting?" Painter boss: "no more money to hire worker ma, that's why i gotta do it myself lor.........." he painted the Marina Blue wall, but the colour didn't look even, so got him to come back 2 days later to repaint........ though the blue wall turned up ok in the end, frankly we felt his workers' skill was much better than him!
  19. thanks dexufto! that time we were in a rush to move so didn't do much research on customisation, but sure your lobang will come useful when we decided to do one later - i most probably would do one so long as hubby doesn't violently object Thanks~
  20. Yo, that colour is Bisque (AL22803), Dulux All. Hope it helps~
  21. Oh dear, sorry to hear about the break-in... hope that the loss is not big... anyway, with your new grilles and alarms, should be more safe now! Was it the recent serial "spidermen" break-in case? My fren staying in JW told me about it....
  22. I prefer the 2nd one too! 1st one seems to have to many "grids" welcome and all the best for your reno~
  23. Do take note on the slight protrusion from your worktop that may "eat" into the 10cm allowance you left. cos when you tell your contractor to leave 850mm, they measure from the cabinet itself but don't take into account of the worktop. This was exactly what happened to my friend - in the end, they have to change the fridge
  24. Yo... i got it from Royal Franco at Jalan Besar (in fact, I got almost all the toilet/kitchen stuff from them). They have 2 choices of colour for this cabinet - dark brown or white. When i measured my bathroom, I got the exact same dimension as you - 45cm for basin.... we got same weird toilet layout maybe? in the end, this basin + cabinet i got is 46cm x 46cm... 1cm more only nia btw, i read from the other thread that you got a 4A in Bishan? wow at first me and hubby looking at Bishan also cos we really love the neighbourhood! But it's really too far from our workplaces...... Gotten any quotes from Henry already?
  25. Thanks! Haha i guess now it's harder to find this kind of flooring liao... gonna extinct soon
