  2. Hi I have a 5th floor resale 3 room flat that was recently returned by the tenant. When I enter the house, i felt that the place is energy draining. It has a new coat of paint last year and the living room was repainted. Lighting were bright and natural light seems OK, but I would prefer more sunlight. Only thing dated is the kitchen cabin that my agent suggest I let it be as tenants don't take care of it. Is there anything that I can energize the place without all those elaborate FS placements & ceremonies ? thanks
  3. Besides Ikea, where else is good to view ready-made curtains + poles for the windows in MBR Budget priced items will be fine. Thanks

  10. To see if your new place is fiber internet ready, try this link (top right side) http://www.opennet.com.sg/ Personally, I am using MyRepublic at home (HDB). So far , a few service issue but was resolved quickly.
  11. helped a friend to checked on this topic last year. here is my summary of finding : While there are LED bulbs out there which will fit a halogen holder, it is highly recommended to change the entire setup. Simple logic being that the halogen uses higher wattage and fitting the LED means stepping down the power > a potential failure point.
  12. We need to install a 3-4 layers in our store room. Any recommendations appreciated. Thanks
  13. anyway, it is just a matter of time for the enforcement to be strict and also who complains. Esp when everything is computerized. Cover backside 1st with the portion about valid documents.
  14. Reviving an old thread here. Need some racks for our 1.4m x 1.1m store room. Any updated recommendations ? Those boltless racks looks solid and cool, unsure whats the $$$ these days. Cheers
  15. Had similar issue with my tenant once , about him allowing his parents from India to stay for a few months or that his relative stay over until EP is approved & finds a place to stay. Called up HDB to check and the answer is : by the book, the answer is Not Allowed. "c. Non-citizens legally residing in Singapore who are holders of Employment Passes, S Passes, Work Permits*, Student Passes, Dependant Passes, or Long-Term Social Visit Passes. These passes must have a validity period of at least 6 months as at the date of subletting application." http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10323p.nsf/w/RentOpenMktRentOutRoom?OpenDocument but my agent said that parents are usually OK so as long as their visas are valid. This is more "hear say" to me than anything , so far no one is caught or been warned.

  17. After having to deal with 2 fridges in one week, I made a few observation and liked to share with you While one do look at price, features and volume size of the fridge, it is important to take note of the following : Check the size of the fridge against .... a. The space available. You need about 5 cm allowance between the walls and fridge for air circulations b. The size of your front door, gates, kitchen enterance and (maybe) the lift (for us HDB dwellers who has no access to cargo lifts). In my case, the delivery guys had to remove one of the front gates, the back protective panel & PCB of the fridge to move it in.He also used the carton box packing, to protect my front door against stretches. Had we not renovated the kitchen, removing an arch on the kitchen entertance & the sliding door + frame, my guess is that it might not be able to move in. Yes, we bought the fridge while the reno works is in progress and informed the ID about the size. He factored this into the kitchen's platform design and we have a nice fit. I am unsure if the agents will take the lift size in consideration when offering various models here. Hoped this helps.
  18. In the evening, we returned home to find the fridge chilled. Brought some fruits and drinks to celebrate this. At last. Samsung or GC never once called to follow up if everything is OK. I just leave it as it is. Case closed. Thank you for reading.
  19. This afternoon, the replacement fridge was installed. The service guys said to wait 3 hours before starting. Now still waiting. If it screws up, Samsung Gain City can take back this items and I will want a full refund plus damages (loss of use and my food items). Already had to discard a few items because of the fridge problem. I was fortunate that the previous experience with Samsung products (S2, Tab 10.1, washing machines) are positive. This lead us to consider the brand for our Smart TV, Fridge, Washer and her mom's new smart phone. Nothing and nobody is perfect. But to be pushed around by all the blur sotongs and made to repeat the sob story with each and every phone call. I am sure you will also be pissed. Worse is that i had to do this during office hours and the Samsung hotline is a 1800 number which I can't dial from office phone (thats another story internally). Imagine you the supervisor/manager seeing your staff spending excessive time on the phone on personal stuff. How will the performance review goes ? All because of a stupid fridge.
  20. at the GC expo, we view many models. needing a big fridge that is energy saving. this model @ 560L for <$1250 was a good deal. plus all the inverter & LED light thingy. hence the decision. anyway, as at 4pm GC's Danial Tan (manager) called saying that they will arrange an exchange tomorrow 1-3pm. btw, we also bought extended warranty on this model. just for piece of mind.
