  1. hey marsh why procrastinate? I think it's a great tool!
  2. very nice! And different from the usual colourful blossom, pussy willow and stuff how long does it last? Thinking hard about getting some hardy plants to place outside house, but never had green fingers ...
  3. Surprised to see a thread on auto here - was actually trying to look for car forums Have a 4 yr plus car, thinking whether it is better off selling it now or continue to hold on. Most friends say it's better to sell, bc of depreciation. But car prices are at a high now, isn't it? We roughly know we need to look at things like PARF, COE, besides the $ of new car, etc etc but definitely do not have a clear picture. Can any kind souls enlighten us on what exactly are the various things to look out for before coming to a decision? Eg how to calculate how much we can offset for the new car? ie if we sell now, 1 yr later, 2 yrs later etc? thanks so much!
  4. Hi Robin I do give my folks a spare set of keys too, but seriously doubt they will give surprise visits. Our rationale is really simple - in case we forget to bring our set, we can just pop over to get it from them. Perhaps this is what your mum is thinking too when she requested to keep a set?
  5. hi gals mama time really flies. Even I have moved in almost half a year! why not ask your gals to do some paintings for the walls? Personal touch which does not cost a bomb
  6. some recent bakes to add on .. forgot to take the completed product, this one already being attacked
  7. hi danelow here you go. hope these will give you a better picture overall view under the sink support - concrete + tiles + wood and lastly laminate and to answer yr questions 1. yes, it's concrete, then tiles, followed by wood then laminate (for the sides), but for top, no wood layer 2. I chose concrete for sink area bc it being always wet, I felt more secure. It's more like my old kitchen with the tile top, except that in this case, we have a granite on top for more aesthetic appeal. I only use concrete support for my 2 sinks in the kitchen, other cabinets just wood, except the base, of course. bear in mind also that concrete is thicker, so does take up some space that can be extra storage. So need to balance all that before deciding on which to do. and of course, extra cost. hth
  8. rondy is baking soda one of the ingredients? I think this will give crusty top
  9. marshmellow, you and rondy from hk? You are both so familiar, but I have never been there - so suaku. Next time want to go must ask you for info on thiings to do and places to go
  10. leak lor, so sian right? But they came down to service quite quickly, and after a few unsuccessful attempts, plus some noise from our side, they change a set for us
  11. moved in in sept last yr, and have been cooking almost everyday since. Like you said, the space between the 3 burners are just right. I can put wok on left, small pot in centre, and soup pot on the right. So a meal is quickly done. And very easy to clean also. Once, I forgot to watch the fire, and contents spilled. Thankfully this hob does not have many "holes" so still relatively easy to clean. i think you know what I mean, since you set your eyes on this one. As for hood, I think it does what it is supposed to do. At least when I turn it on, I do not feel the fume in the whole house. However, I don't think there is a 100% kind of hood, so still need to mop/clean etc after each cooking session. To put simply, I am happy with both buys. Brandt's service is pretty good too. I had problems with the washer, and their service staff were prompt and efficient. what stage of reno are you at?
  12. ht? yup, melt choc, put in piping bag, make small hole. Make sure hole is small, unless you want chunky patterns, which imo, not nice. thanks bun bun! btw why yr nic so cute - you like to make bun ah?
  13. so many coral spring here. At the moment, we only can see less than 5 units lighted up, but soon the place will be bustling with actiivities! Congrats!
  14. danelow, thanks for bringing my blog back into existence! yup, it's concrete support, granite top, and laminate exterior as for pix, sure will take some. but have put alot of things under the sink, got to clear them first. What is it you want to see/tell?
  15. Bun bun want to ask you - for the peaches, do you arrange from centre out, or from outside into the centre?
  16. or a simplier way - put biscuit in plastic bag, then roll over with rolling pin. If you want very very fine, just keep rolling till your desired consistency
  17. Bun bun it's actually quite easy. Just place a long strip (strip should be longer than cake circumference) of plastic sheet on a piece of greaseproof paper. Pipe the pattern on plastic. Pick up the plastic sheet and leave to dry (either on table or fridge). When it is almost set, wrap sheet round cake (of course cake must be iced already at this stage). The choc will stick on the icing. Once the choc is harden, peel plastic off. and well, the picture says it all - it's a lemon mousse.
  18. Bun Bun your mango cake looks yummy! I also join in .. just did this, wanted to post it before i hit the bed ..
  19. hi all long time never check RT. This is the first thread I look for now! Bunbun, what is the brown parts in the lychee layer?
  20. ya, bc for FV, i am selecting from the leftover, at that time, they already started building FV. I still remember that time very stressed. Before my appointment date, everyday check online for the units that had been taken. By the time our appt date, I think only 5 or 6 units left liao. We really needed to get a unit, so though not our ideal unit, still grab ! But having lived in FV for a good 3 months now, I really liked the place!
  21. Hi does anyone know where to buy foam for chairs? Thinking of DIY our set of dining chairs and giving it a new look thank you!
  22. it's that time of yr again .. have always grated, but this time trying chopping. Hope it turns out good after 2 hrs of stirring and cooking .. to continue tonight
  23. Hi Nuar hope I am not too late to welcome you! Wonder what's yr decision about the drawer vs basket issue? I find that between the two, drawers are a better bet. Baskets can be flimsy, and sometimes when you have too much to put into the basket, the items may fall behind. Also your point about cabinet depth being 600mm, and drawers being less deep. Yes, it's true, but that's taking into consideration concealed pipes. For my case, the drawers are only 400+
