  1. Does Alex replaster the area around the window for you after finishing installation? Seems that most contractors just leave the window area "raw" after putting in the window.
  2. That really sucks. Not sure if it will do any good but file a complaint with CASE? If you want to try blackhat tactics, go to the shop when it's busiest, say Sunday afternoon when there are lots of customers around and make a scene.
  3. Well, I'll review for the fabric Klippan sofa I bought about 10 years ago. Pretty satisfied overall since it only cost $300 plus. I got washable cotton sofa cover for it, so extra $100. Only complaint would be the springs go "soft" after about a year but still ok until recently when I can feel the springs in some places - so time to change. But if I can't find another sofa that has clean lines and value for money, I think I would still buy another Klippan sofa - maybe another colour though.
  4. Tiler Seng: Do you do smoothening walls? I need to resurface the wall area around a bedroom window that has been damaged by water seepage. If you also do repair/change standard casement window, that would be great cos it's better to have the works done by same contractor. Let me know your cost estimate if you do. Thanks.
  5. Best to check with town council on recommended contractors. $430 is expensive even for 2 louvre windows.
  6. If you know the brand of your laminate, you should call the singapore distributor who will then advise you. Since it's only been 3.5 years, chances are, the company is still in existence, unlike mine - closed shop already.
  7. Got quotation - bery ex...almost 5k for 2 bedrooms - the old 3rm hdb size. So now looking for company that can replace/repair existing laminate. Any recommendations?
  8. I handled my own renovations last time and that's how I got so many white hairs. Better to get an ID because: - they know what are the options - they know how to make things look nicer - coordinate and supervise contractors who may otherwise try to cut corners since you don't know anything about materials and stuff. But looking for a good ID who genuinely cares for its clients instead of going all out to make as much money from you as possible can be a challenge. Best is to see if any friends who have used the ID before so you can look at their work and decide.
  9. http://www.starbamboo.com/2009/06/18/bambo...alue-for-money/ Looks just like teak, but must see the real thing.
  10. What about bamboo flooring? Anyone tried? Supposed to be more durable than laminates - of course more expensive than laminates but cheaper and 20% harder than solid wood. I'm getting quotation now.
  11. hi Tiler Seng Since you have ID background, I think you could be good for my plans to rejuvenate my flat. Please pm me your email, thanks.
  12. So what do you all do with the old aircon. Sell away or just throw out? I want to sell off my old aircon - units and compressor if possible. Any one got contacts pls post.
  13. One effective way to prevent cockroaches from hanging around your rubbish chute is to pour soapy water eg. after washing dishes to wash it regularly and also spray insecticide around the lid inside - guarantee no cockroach wants to go near your rubbish chute.
  14. Gosh...that is really bad. My Ikea fabric sofa lasted me 10 years...time for a change but looks like not at FC.
