  1. Hi folks, I've uploaded my latest collection of skills in folding paper lotuses using prayer papers meant for offering to buddhas... Please visit the following link for videos & write-ups if you are interested: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8266/8666705307_50da4c515a_z.jpg I do not sell or trade in these products. Thank You.
  2. Hi folks, I've started on the art of folding paper lotuses for both offering to the buddhas & for our loved ones who had already passed on. If you are interested in taking a look at how they looked like with video links, please feel free to visit my blogging entries that are copied below: http://barbettey.blogspot.sg/2013/04/the-art-of-lotus-origami-for-goddess-of.html http://barbettey.blogspot.sg/2013/03/origami-for-qing-ming-festival-paper.html Thank you.
  3. Hahaha what u guys said r really very funny! Some of these sitcoms by these Taiwanese folks r real jokers. One of such series even featured a temple where people worshipped to a barbie doll at pulau ubin! And the horrible outcome. Scary. There's plenty of black humor in that episode, hosted by the same guy...
  4. I have no idea. U could check with the thread starter. I think he will have a much better idea on the product.
  5. I only saw the celebrity medium taking a huge bunch of whitish looking leaves & sweeping it into the air all over the house. But u can google up many findings on "white sage Singapore". It seems like it's pretty popular to use white sage. I use clary sage aroma essence for my air purifier. But it's more for the fragrance than anything else. Not sure if it's the same as white sage.
  6. Hi thanks for sharing this. I first saw an European lady use white sage to cleanse the home on Channel 425 (Starhub TV) and apparently this lady is a celebrity "medium" who is gifted with a strong sense of telepathy & the third eye (she could see spirits). U might want to share how u go about using white sage to cleanse your home. For the Chinese, we use pomegranate leaves. best regards.
  7. Hi folks, U can watch this video on fengshui. Hosted by a bunch of comedians from Taiwan. Really hilarious
  8. Hi, Siglap is a nice place where I grew up in. You might want to explore your A&A with SIL Bright. This construction company is definitely reputable & they have worked with many well-known architects to deliver award-winning good-class bungalows which were featured in The Straits Times, Business Times. There's no harm in approaching them even though you have got a budget. You could look through their profile on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/silbright Best wishes!
  9. Hi, You could contact Mrs Kang from Han Fong Aluminium to obtain a quotation. They did several stuff for our home. U could click on the link below that would direct you to my blog or go straight to this blogging entry at the following link: http://barbettey.blogspot.sg/2012/05/vanity-drawers-from-han-fong-aluminium.html It's a great pity that they haven't updated their website even though they have done countless of projects for commercial buildings, bungalows, flats, etc. If my new place permits it, I would be getting Han Fong to install top track tempered glass doors for my kitchen. I saw it at one of the showflats they installed last year. It was really modern & nice. I really love it. best wishes!
  10. Hi tealover You could try getting a quotation from Ivy at Sun Sun Glass located at the following address: Block 38 Defu Lane 10 #01-35/39/31 Singapore 539215 Tel : 6-283-3126 I believe that they supply to both end-users, installers & designers. Their mirrors are supposedly thicker than IKEA's version. You might also want to take note that the lifespan of your mirror would shorten considerably if it is installed on the wall without any framing as moisture would seep through from the sides (of the mirror). Best wishes!
  11. I wouldn't recommend installation of electric meters for rooms. Reason being that I had explored that option for the past 2 years but had been advised against doing so by installers. Drawbacks: High installatlon costs - if I didn't recall wrongly, it's about $1k per meterTenants could still dispute over your meter reading; they can argue that your meter is faulty or that you tampered with it such that they are overcharged - it's a similar situation as that of passengers complaining that the fare meter in the taxi is faulty & billed them a higher fare. And the second point above was highlighted to me by both installers (for meters) & landlords.
  12. Hi folks, I just backdated a blogging entry for the folding of paper lotuses for Qing Ming festival this year. If it does interest you, please visit the following link: http://barbettey.blogspot.sg/2013/03/origami-for-qing-ming-festival-paper.html I do not sell any of these products. Thank You.
  13. One of my favourite wedding favours which I received a good 8 years ago after attending a wedding. It's a pair of really dainty looking porcelain chopsticks holder. Definitely oriental in nature, cute & auspicious in a pair. I'm hoping that I get a pair of cute magnetic mini clogs one of these days.
  14. Took me quite sometime to figure out what this gadget was. Slow reflexes. It's actually a pair of tongs for scooping dried tea leaves when brewing tea.
  15. uploading photographs of wedding favours for appreciation... An assortment of wedding favours - cups, mini saucer, coaster (photo), poker cards, tea leaves scoop.
  16. hi thanks for sharing your practices. My side of family only give tea ceremony angpows & the big "bomb" comes from a gift registry. Meaning that the wedding invitation card would have a list of items e.g. washing machine, fridge, oven, plasma tv, hifi, etc attached & guests could either go down to the designated counters e.g. CK Tang to place the order. However, those appliances aren't cheap so sometimes relatives/ friends would just pool their financial resources together to buy an appliance from the registry. But that's provided that it's not been "booked" (bought) by other guests already. On many ocassions, we would still wrap angpows because all the appliances which are still not "booked" yet are too expensive. But we had 2 wedding invitations for these past 3 months. Another 3 more red cards are coming up. And for all, we have to drink tea...
  17. Hi folks, I backdated a blogging entry under my blog recently. Related to altars & prayer accessories bought at a lower pricing. For those who are interested, please visit the following link: http://barbettey.blogspot.sg/2012/06/enshrining-guan-yin-in-our-home.html Thank you.
  18. Hi pills, you could learn more about these fengshui issues by borrowing Joey Yap's DVDs from the National Library. They should be readily available in regional libraries. I believe that fengshui believers would avoid such homes as those houses/ flats facing narrow alleys or whose main door coincides with a "corner" belonging to any structures are classified as bad becox there's alot of "sha" qi involved. Joey Yap's DVDs have mentioned that we want "sheng" qi, not "sha" qi. Joey Yap's DVD would also be clear in explaining what is defined as a missing corner/sector - u will need to "frame" your floor plan within a square or rectangular & dividing it into 9 equal grids (3x3); any parts that had more than one-third missing within the respective grids, it's considered a missing corner. Many new flats have such missing corners. If you happened to be staying at such a place, you might want to consult your fengshui master to see if there are any remedies before selling out.
  19. I have received PMs asking about the origin of this product. It is manufactured in New Zealand, is certified HALAL with stringent QC standards. Please refer to a photograph of the product information that's been printed on the side of the box. Thank you.
  20. They have many cheaply priced stuff. Did you asked their staff whether their furnitures are from China, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc? You'll have to exercise discretion if they are imported from China. Some looked pretty for a start but they aren't as lasting.
  21. Hi pills The price range for mattresses vary. And you would need to test out all the mattresses before deciding on which one to buy. King Koil is well known for their stiff & hard mattresses which are supposedly good for spinal support and seems to be popular among the older generation folks. It's a very old brand and their mattress collection varies across the island depending on where which showroom you go to. If your pockets allow u to stretch, you might want to take a look at Robinsons at Centrepoint. Otherwise, you might want to try out places such as COURTS Megastore - they have a wide selection of brands there. From my observation, many mattresses which contain memory foam & latex tends to sink in. They will "wrap" you up when u lie down on them. So I would recommend that unless your bedroom is airconditioned, otherwise, it's preferable that u stick to those normal pocketed spring mattresses. There were also cases in which users develop problems over time when they sleep on memory foam mattresses. In some other scenarios, it worsens certain medical conditions. If you are suffering from lupus or any blood related ailments, it's not advisable to sleep on memory foam mattresses. However, I felt that it's all up to individuals & not every user would face issues with memory foam. For latex, I think it's getting more complex because I was told by different sales persons for latex mattresses that there are synthetic latex, natural latex & latex with punched holes for ventilation, etc etc. In my opinion, you'll need to shop around & test out all the mattresses to see which one suits you. p/s: I'm supposed to get a replacement mattress but I require customisation as my bed frame is a super King in size. And the troubling part is the transportation of the mattress because my flat's lifts couldn't accomodate to my huge mattress. It doesn't help since we are staying almost towards the top floor. We also had intention to shift out within these few years... so it'll be double the trouble when it comes to transporting the mattress around. But both hubby & myself liked the KING KOIL hard mattress with pocketed spring which we tried at COURTS Megastore.
