  1. yes, I guess so.. but WTB is all eager to showcase our home to our frens and relatives. Haha.. I'm okay with that. Future MIL actually got us an auspicious date & time for our house-warming party, so I suppose it should be fine. Yea.. the 2 doggies of the wall decal are really cute!
  2. Wahh.. so nice! *envy... my new place can only hear traffic noises from the causeway customs early in the weekday mornings... I miss the tranquility of my parents' place.
  3. House-warming (1) Had our first house-warming party on Sun. Super tiring, but enjoyable! Afternoon session was for our (non salsa-dancing) friends while the dinner was for WTB's relatives. Felt good to be able to share with them on our joys and pains in the journey of doing up our own place. WTB baked a cheese cake and chocolate brownie cake while rest of the finger food were being prepared by my future MIL and WTB's grandma. We most probably would've opted for ordering pizza and KFC if not for their help. It was also the first time our kitchen got 'tested' extensively! We still have at least 2 more house-warming sessions to go. "Looking forward" to more cleaning to do! whahaha..
  4. Gosh.. it's so exquisite and pretty! ur hse reno & style has always been one of my fav, among the many t-blogs in RT
  5. Hey, very unique and beautiful place u got there!! Quite different from the usual styles featured in magazines.. Like ur choice of furniture too. Creative Gd work!!
  6. ur WTB's shoes collection must have been extensive!
  7. The PD-Mirror-Door 'expands' the space to a great extent! Well-done
  8. I think the wallpaper goes well with your dining set. 'Urban Manhattan' feel?
  9. Congrats on your moving in! Like ur MBR. Looks like a classy yet comfortable place to Zzz in And ur dining room windows are facing the park greenery! Nice..
  10. Study-room finally ready! Received our last piece of large furniture yesterday, a bookshelf cabinet. While we are not particular about the design details of the study-rm furnitures.. it is a must that all must be of walnut color Bought it @ Homiz at old Woodlands central. Doors is a must, for ease of cleaning maintenance. Computer desk is from Vhive @ IMM. We don't want too big a table-top, and the metal legs reinforces stability which we prefer. Installed our DELL desktop system. The monitor turned out abit too big for our computer desk but still manageable.. We didn't expect to have such a large monitor in the first place! Saw the display glass cabinet at the corner? Yeah.. I'll be uploading pics on my precious collection at a later date. Stay tuned!
  11. Hi potatoes, thks for dropping by again. We will be moving in only in Nov, after our wedding. But we are quite 'efficient'.. the hse is almost ready for stay already
  12. I would agree with you.. Sales/Marketing teams always push for the pdts which give them more profits.. and not necc better. There are websites around which give very technical reviews on TVs.. but again, I believe most of us dun really bother or understand. For me, as long japanese or korean brands.. and min 40" = gd enough
  13. Hey Dreaming, Thks for the compliment! Me and WTB thought the doggies look really cute!! It gives us a warm, fuzzy feeling.. which is apt for a 'welcome sign'.
  14. Hi rayfox, sad to say, we installed the rod before we started looking for curtains and didn't expect the usual length of full-length curtain panels to be this long. I think it will be easier for us to trim the curtains than to re-install the rods.
  15. MBR curtains up The curtain rods were from IKEA and installed by my future FIL. Now left the curtain for living hall. (not hanging for other 2 bedrooms) The mattress was deliberately put at an angle, as we haven't "安床" yet. Bought at NTUC Xtra. We wanted one that is (i) white, (ii) with no outstanding prints (ours was small, simple flowers prints) (iii) opaque type to block out the morning sun Abit long. Can't be helped since we wanna save some $ by buying off the shelf
  16. Agree with you. It defin adds more flexibility without the false ceilings and cornies. Having said so, my hse has L-box and cornies in living & dining areas. These are done up by ex-owner and it restricts my electrical work to a great extent Yet it would burst our budget if we to hack everything away and redo. No choice, we just had to make concessions on our wiring layout plan..
  17. I got the same tissue box from the small shop beside Kinokuniya @ Parco Bugis. u can check it out there
  18. Very nice-looking bins and tissue boxes! Too bad I already got my bins.. I have the exact tissue box as yours but is red in color. Thinking of getting another one for MBR.. Read that you order it online from tabao.com So many links there that I kinda got lost in it..
  19. Whahaha.. A bird for each door. Why so angry?
  20. Our laminated flooring is very similar to the one which you felt is 'old and commonly used' Yah, laminated flooring always have this water issue.. and it seems unavoidable some planks will have gaps in btw them which will trap dirt.. If I can choose again, I will defin. go for darker tiles and laminated floor planks!
  21. Can't agree more. I bought my PC from Comex and had a tough time 'bashing thru' the crowd with the bulky cargo.. only to realise later that its available at DELL website for the same price with delivery included! But again, I wasn't sure which model to buy unless I was there to compare the prices and specs of those available. ur purchase ($999) sounds like a gd buy!
  22. The ex-owner of my hse had this lamp too! In fact 2, in the living hall. I sold them (abeit too cheaply on hindsight.. ) via RT, as they do not blend with the style we want. We got ourselves Legrand switches too.
  23. Shifted in Piano, Wardrobe & Glass Cabinet I've engaged movers to transport x3 items from my parents place, which is just 5 min away by walking! No choice.. as transporting these items by myself is really beyond me. Overall quite satisfied with the services of "Helping Hands", though they came 1.5hr after the appointed time. They are not really considered the 'super-pro' type of movers.. But that's good enough for me considering the relatively low price quoted. My trusty companion for nearly 20yrs! My parents said we can have this --> saved some $ from our pocket We would need this extra cupboard, as the new one in MBR is not big enough for us For the display of my collection of model cars & anime figurines.
  24. The movers will be transporting (i) a wardrobe, (ii) a glass cabinet, (iii) upright piano.. from my parents' house tmr afternoon! Has engaged the services of Helping Hands, as I read quite a few positive reviews in the forum. Their quotation is also lower than the 3 other companies I have enquired. Hopefully all goes well tmr, esp for my piano!!
