  1. Went and see this crystal lighting recommended by my designer (Irene). It looks so beautiful in real life.... but price
  2. Hi Let me first say that i have not meet this Kelvin or know you so i be a neutral comments and based on my judgements & info provided here. I'm sure there must be some misunderstanding or something mishaps. Must really hear from both side of the story. Agree that 7 months is way to long for handover for an initial job of 2-3mths unless you are not rushing the reno, make design changes along the way, disagreement of certain things, or something else. I also find that since you work 24/7 how can you have time to followup things with the ID, let alone not able to take a picture to show everyone here. I also very busy at work and with family but we will try to visit the reno site several time a week and constantly checking with the ID designer/project coordinator to see what is the status & any issues. You will need to contact the ID very often to make sure everything is on schedules. My ID desginer always arrange for regular weekly meeting with us at the shop/site at least to go thru the tasks for next milestones. If any issues we try to sorted out before next milestone (and payment) is to start. Best is to arrange & have Kelvin commit a time when all the defects (maybe you can tell us what are the defects...pictures tells a thousand words) will be fixed. I'm sure he will do his best cos he has a great reputation here and a popular person. He should put your job on a priority list (provided it is reasonable & justified) cos you have signed with him much earlier than the newer project. I would be also very annoyed if my project is delay at the expense of other newer project. I assume you have not paid the final payment... Like hdb_sign mentioned must hear good & bad things (not just the good things) so that others will aware of the challenges in going thru a reno. Just my comments and not defending anyone. Cheers
  3. If you need a good electrician i can recommend my electrican to you. Currently doing my place with >50 lighting points. So far very impressed with his attitude to work and his workmanship. He is the boss of his company and do all the works himself so that he can give the best workmanship. PM me if you need more info.

  5. Nice big place you got there Angie. Happy renovating.
  6. Great stuff eR1c. Happy moving in and enjoy!
  7. My order of prefer choice is: 1) 2) 3) How about yours?
  8. Finishing plastering the whole house soon. A balancing act pic...
  9. Canon 5D is a full frame camera Now almost half the price to the first day when it was launched .
  10. Hey eR1c, your bathroom is very nice now. Simple & clean design so cleaning time will be much easier. Nice contrast in color.
  11. Hi De_princess, $2.8K expensive or not depends on the number of lighting points, power points, heater/hob & hood points, SCV point (around $95/point), phone/fax points, DB Box (most expensive item around $350), etc... you have. Are you changing the Main Cables? Recommended if your place is very old and going for SP testing. Usually SP testing cost is around $250-280 but some ID electrician will recommend using metal casing (which is an extra cost if a lot of metal casing involved) for the wiring (especially behind feature walls, walls, wardrobe) for SP testing so that in case you drill in future you will not drill the cables directly. Cheers
  12. Agree with MaCe. He gave a lot of good points already. Totally agree that no need to spent so much on a HT cable (especially for the rear surround speaker). Less than $3/m is very good already. I have some Balden cables (retail around $2/m) for sale to meet your required length. PM me if you are interested in it. I just sourced my cables yesterday as currently doing electrical wiring or my place. Got myself QED Micro for the rear speakers. It retail around $3.50-4.50/m (I paid around $4/m for the QED micro at a shop in Adelphi cos the salesman let me test the cable to hear the differences first before i bought from him...so a very good service in that respect). You do hear the difference for music between the good speaker cable (eg QED $10-14 range) & the stock speaker that come with the HTIB...but the cost of good cables sometime does not warrant the investment unless you are the audoiphile person....which usually ave expensive HT systems. The front speakers + centre speaker (most important as this is the vocal) you can spent a bit more on cables if your budget allow but not neccessary for HTIB. Recommend to use around the same length (preferably 2m min) for all front cables. Got a QED Silver Anniverary XT speaker cable with 4.5mm banana plugs for my front speakers. Most people suggest that you spent around 10% of expensive HT system on cables. Even less for the HTIB type. QED cables got a very good reputation especially in UK and some popular magazine reviews. There are many range of QED cables. Not sure which type that you saw for the $3/m? Is it the QED Micro..the slim type?
  13. Thanks ah_kiat & Sumobear, Using 5D and 17-40 lens which give more wider angle No flash most of the time as can set a much higher ISO setting of 800 to 1600.
  14. Thanks Cantona & eR1c. You reno also very nice too.
  15. Started plastering of interior walls & ceiling today ...so whole house dusty again. Using acrylic strip angles to get perfect straight edges on corners... Tools of trade
  16. Some updates... Living room tiling/skirting done. Toilet view.. Master Bedroom cement screeding done.
  17. eR1c, your renovation is coming along very nicely and fast. The lighting switch looks excellent !! Did you bought yourself?
  18. Hi fteocs, You equipments will cost you quite a lot.... For the rainshower, careful not to choose too big size as the water pressure will be an issue. Why not try out the new B&W 604 series which will be available in a few months? Design-wise it suxx but audio wise is excellent for the price range. Good choice on your Denon 3806...my only concern is it's not 1.3. Think there is a newer Denon model just on the horizon. Cheers
  19. Hi fteocs, Wow ...thanks for the great recommendation & very informative reply. Definitely you have a very good taste there Yes, i was all set on the Sony 46X full HD TV with Epson (~$5.5K) or JVC DILA 1080p proj (only $7K) on a 100" Steward screen but decided wait for the next upgrade instead as not be suitable with the large floor stand speaker for our design. For now it will be a simple clean cut HT. Planning to get a large 50inch plasma (hoping the new 8G Pio arrive in time...else will settle with the Panasonic latest plasma). Decided on the KEF as that was the best lifestyle speaker we could find which is quite good on music as well. Will be doing 70% (movies/SCV) and 30% (music). Only issue is the subwoofer which is not that powerful (only 250w) and cannot be upgraded as it comes in the package...would love to change to a Velodyne 1000r sub. Any suggestion on the amp to go with the KEF. Was thinking about the new Onkyo 805 which is HDMI 1.3 future proofed but design wise was average . Speaker placement was told should be about 6ft apart for the two front speakers and i have cater for about 12ft for the rear speakers which will be wall mounted at ear level. Cheers
  20. Congrat Mr & Mrs Wormzzz's. Enjoy the renovations. !!
  21. Major tiling are completed in the living & kitchen area !! Also the door frames are done. Here is a pic.
  22. Thanks for your reply bro Cantona, I think i know what you mean So during our renovation we do not need to make the floor drainage pipes higher (say like 0.5m) in order to meet the service man own pipes. No issue with leaking water from the F&P pipes if we connect to the pipes to the drainage pipe which is at the base of the washing machine base..hope you know what i mean? Cheers
  23. Hi, For those who have the Fisher & Paykel washing machine, can you show me your pic (prefer as a picture tells a thousand words) or else describe of how the water drainage pipe be connected to the floor drainage area. Understand that the F&P washine machine pipes start at a higher portion of the washine machine unlike other brands which are at the lower base. Should i need to make a drainage pipe much higher than say 4inch from the ground? Thanks
